There are different ways to help maintain your favorite smells in the room - with the help of scented candles, aroma lamps, smoldering sticks, sachets, electric diffusers.

In our article, we will talk about diffusers that fill the air of a room with aromas using porous clay, sticks, which do not require fire or electricity, it is enough just to periodically replenish the volume of the aromatic liquid. The best part is that we can make this device at home with our own hands.

Classic version

A diffuser is a bubble or a pretty bottle of aromatic liquid. Bamboo, reed, wooden, clay sticks are inserted into it, which absorb liquid and then exude a pleasant aroma.

In the classic version, the aroma diffuser is oil, for manufacturing we need:

  1. Vial or any other glass, ceramic vessel 50-150 ml with a stable base... To prevent the fragrant oil from evaporating in vain, the container should be chosen with a narrowed neck.
  2. Capillary rods... The reed option is most suitable. The larger the diameter and length of the sticks, the more intensely they fill with oil and the brighter they exude aroma.
  3. Aromatic oil... The aroma is selected according to taste or action, for example, mint, lavender - soothing, tea tree - bactericidal.
  4. Base oil... Essential for the dilution of aromatic oil. This product must not have its own odor.
  5. Alcohol - 1 tablespoon.

When all the elements are assembled, you can start making the diffuser itself. The principle of collecting the aroma device is as follows:

  • Into a prepared vessel with a narrow neck the base oil is poured. You should not fill the bottle to the end, you need to leave room for other components and sticks, which at the initial stage will raise the liquid level.
  • Further into a bottle of oil 20-40 drops of your favorite aromatic composition are injected.
  • Add 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol to increase the volatility of essential oils.
  • Insert a bunch of cane or bamboo sticks and leave them to soak.
  • Then the sticks are taken out, inverted and reinserted into the vessel.

The diffuser is ready, all that remains is to replenish the aromatic liquid as it evaporates.

By the way, if the composition is transparent, you can add a little food coloring to it. The tinted oil in the glass vial will look more impressive.

How to make with gelatin?

We have dealt with the oil aroma diffuser, now we will make a gel device for aromas. The Latin word gelo (gel) and the French word gelee (jelly) are related words and we will prepare our gel from gelatin, as is done with ordinary confectionery jelly. To make a flavoring agent, we need:

  1. Gelatin - 2 teaspoons. It allows the fragrance to be retained for a long time.
  2. Glycerin protects the composition from drying out.
  3. Water.
  4. An essential oil with a pleasant scent.

The manufacturing process takes place in the following way:

  • Initially, a mold is prepared for the filler. It can be a beautiful shallow jar or a small, wide glass.
  • Send 2 teaspoons of dry gelatin to the container. Add some water until the product swells.
  • Stir gelatin and add to it 1 teaspoon of glycerin
  • Essential oil with your favorite scent (7-8 drops) mixed with the rest of the composition.

The resulting product is placed in the refrigerator for hardening. So that the flavoring does not look like an ordinary jar with unclear contents, but has the appearance of an original decor, you need to work a little with it.

  • Using food coloring to give the desired color to the gel... But tinting is done during the manufacture of the product, and not when the product has already frozen.
  • Instead of a banal jar for a fragrant gel, you can take a wide glass. In it, the tinted content will look tempting.
  • For interiors in eco-style, they use stripped of the pulp and dried orange halves
  • When the consistency is still liquid, pleasant trinkets are immersed in the container, which will decorate the fragrance - rhinestones, shells, beautiful plants, spices, candied citrus slices.

Making a soda diffuser

The simplest flavor is made from soda. The product neutralizes unpleasant odors well and retains the aromas of the essential oils added to it for a long time. These properties of baking soda are used to cope with specific odors in plumbing rooms and in the kitchen. To create a diffuser you will need:

  • baking soda as a base filler;
  • essential oils;
  • decorative jar;
  • a suitable object with holes that acts as a lid.

A soda flavor is made as follows:

  • At the bottom of a beautiful jar, soda is poured several centimeters thick.
  • Add up to 10 drops of any essential oil and mix. Instead of oil, you can combine baking soda with anise, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves or cardamom.
  • Next, the jar needs to be covered with a lid, which will be dosed to let the aroma into the atmosphere of the room. For this, holes are made in the lid. Or use a piece of rough fabric as a covering, for example, matting, burlap. Some people cover the container with foil, having previously made perforations in it.

Such a jar with simple contents will not only fill the room with fragrance, but also remove unpleasant odors.

Making from water and alcohol

We offer a small master class on making a home aroma spray, made on the basis of water and alcohol. To do this, select a small container with a spray bottle. Further actions will be as follows:

  • the sprinkler is removed from the vessel and 20-40 drops of aromatic essential oil are placed inside the container;
  • add 1 tbsp. l. alcohol for volatility;
  • fill the container with water, up to 200 ml;
  • return the spray arm to its place.

The spray for creating a fragrant indoor atmosphere is ready.

See the video below for tips on which scent diffusers can be made for different situations.
