Not every woman has a combination in her wardrobe. Someone considers it an attribute that is not included in the modern understanding of basic things, someone has never come across this subject at all.

Interest in the combination is growing today because fashion is evolving in a spiral and many vintage items are becoming ultra-trendy.

A combination is called an elegant tight-fitting women's shirt, which is worn over underwear, under a dress. The main task of such a wardrobe element is to enable the dress to fit better. Once upon a time, the combination was derived from a shirt and pantaloons, more precisely, it was able to connect these underwear together.

The twenties of the XX century became the identification of women's freedom and independence, the destruction of age-old stereotypes. The appearance of various variants of women's shirts at this time is not an accident.

In tsarist Russia underwear was sewn to order. Before 1929 in the production of linen, elegance, a variety of colors and shapes were still preserved: the legacy of pre-revolutionary Russia was still felt in mass production. But since 1929 in the USSR, the ideology of equality is strengthened, and beauty, individuality, grace in the production of lingerie for women disappears.

Since Soviet times the production of lingerie reached the state level, became widespread, so the models were produced as standard and rather modest in their performance.

Soviet combinations were available to every woman; they were sewn from a simple canvas that could withstand even boiling. In the 50s fashion became more sophisticated: combinations began to be sewn from silk and cotton fabrics. And in the 70s synthetics were added to the production - viscose and nylon.

Of course, it is not worth treating the combination as reprehensible. There were models that were really unattractive, but there were no less beautiful, feminine, seductive, graceful designs. And if a Soviet woman of fashion "got" an imported combination, one could truly be proud of such booty. These were, as a rule, silk models with an ebb that adorned any figure.

In other countries (if we draw a parallel with Soviet fashion and light industry), there were also combinations, but they were called differently. Basically, this name played on the phrase "underwear". We can say that everywhere an elegant women's shirt was considered a combination.

She could look differently.

• Slimming (body shaping) model. Today, there is a lot of such underwear, it is comfortable and inconspicuous. It was a little more difficult with the combination, it was especially difficult to put together a summer bow with a combination under the dress. But on the other hand, there was no need to worry about the extra centimeters at the waist.

• With clip-on straps. If the outfit suggested their absence, then the straps were simply unfastened. It was a normal practice for young girls to acquire such a model, because many of the blouses were transparent, they wanted to open their shoulders. But the neckline was moderately open, everything else was hidden by an elegant combination.

• On wide and narrow straps (loose fit). Usually women bought both options. Narrow straps were not always comfortable, but this kind of underwear was suitable for many outfits. With narrow straps, the combination became a more elegant wardrobe item.

• Smart and standard. If the combination was made of beautiful shiny and sliding fabrics, then heavy dresses and tight skirts lay perfectly on them - folds fell easily, and the gatherings acquired a pleasing drapery.

• Tissue. These are models that were sewn from silk (natural and artificial) and cotton fabrics. One could buy a combination of taffeta, chiffon, cambric, marquise, crepe de Chine.

• Knitted. They were made from viscose, nylon and acetate yarns. Models could be with side inserts, without them, with inserts forming a bell.

This entire list can be found today, although graceful, beautiful, very elegant models are in demand now. Staying in negligee, in a pretty combination, is a completely different feeling than just in underwear.

Fabrics for underwear and related products of light industry should be not only beautiful, but also comfortable. It is important that they do not irritate the skin, make the body sweat, rub the skin, or stain clothing.

• Batiste. Summer women's sets and shirts are sewn from it, which are made from linen or cotton yarn. And so that the surface shines pleasantly, the canvas is mercerized. It adds strength and elasticity, and therefore becomes wear-resistant.

• Atlas. This fabric assumes a satin weave of fibers, the front side is shiny and smooth, and the back side is rough and matte. Usually, viscose is used for the production of satin, combined with cotton, nylon or polyester. Satin combinations are often done with lace.

• Micromodal. In appearance, it is not inferior to satin and not to say that it loses to silk fabric. Recycled beech cellulose produces a thin and light weave. Outwardly, the material is similar to artificial silk, but it is ten times stronger than it.

• Lyocell. Another word that many women hear for the first time. It is a state-of-the-art cellulose material made from eucalyptus wood. The appearance of the fabric depends on the density and structure of its weaving. Lyocell can resemble linen, silk, and cotton. It is an environmentally friendly, hygroscopic, airtight material with high wear resistance.

• Guipure. This lace option makes the dressy chemise a sexy wardrobe item. This beautiful fabric is represented by convex patterns that are connected by the finest mesh. Guipure is made from natural silk threads, combining them with elastane and polyester. The fabric is lightweight, transparent, shape-stable and undoubtedly practical.

• Cooler, interlock. Combinations of this thin jersey are made less often, but this option is also found. Items made from these fabrics are hygroscopic and breathable. They are completely safe for health, have good thermoregulation and color fastness. Finally, they are very easy to clean. Knitted combinations are comfortable, warm, lightweight; wearing them in winter is useful not only for better presentation of your own figure, but also for keeping warm.

• Bamboo. Both sets of underwear and combinations are made from it. Innovative textiles are considered man-made, but they are very sustainable materials. It is a highly durable fabric that is pleasant to the skin - it is soft and elastic. Absolutely hypoallergenic material, characterized by hygroscopicity, breathability and the ability to neutralize not the most pleasant odors.

In terms of color, there should be no problems with finding a combination. In the Soviet years, the choice was not great, and one of the most popular colors was "flesh". I must say that models of this color are popular today. As the demand for underwear that blends into the skin is growing precisely because of such a flesh tone, so the combination is increasingly choosing "natural".

• beige - it is difficult to do without it if pastel colors prevail in your wardrobe;

• red - in order to wear at home under a robe, the option is more than worthy;

• white is a classic choice for lovers of perfection.

If you buy a combination for a transparent dress, it should be contoured and soft. You should not wear a white or dark combination under a delicate transparent beige dress - only a flesh color will be appropriate.

• The average length of a standard combination is up to mid-thigh. Such models are more comfortable, as you can wear them with a relatively short dress, and with a long evening dress.
