Sleeve features

Raglan is a sleeve that is cut out entirely along with the shoulder of the back and front of the blouse. Raglan has a deep enough armhole and does not have a shoulder seam. The sleeve got its name from the name of the English Baron Raglan, who lost his right arm during one of the battles. The Baron came up with a special sleeve style that visually disguised the absence of an arm.

Raglan sleeves can differ from each other in the location of the armholes, shape, as well as the number of seams.

Who is it suitable for?

Raglan sleeve blouses are suitable for women with diametrically opposite body types.

For those with an inverted triangle shape, we recommend a blouse with a ¾ raglan sleeve and a V-neck. In such a blouse, the shoulder line seems smoother, and the figure looks more harmonious.

Raglan will help to visually correct the figure and women with a "triangle" body type. Thanks to the unique sleeve shape, the shoulder line appears more defined and the difference with the hips is less pronounced.

Raglan sleeve blouses are also recommended for women with curvaceous shapes. The loose fit perfectly hides the full arms and heavy chest, the silhouette seems more graceful.

Models

Raglan sleeve blouses can be fitted, straight or loose fit. The sleeve length can be very different. Models with short, long and 3/4 sleeves are relevant. The sleeve can be loose or narrow, complemented by a cuff or elastic band.

The raglan sleeve itself looks very impressive, therefore, such blouses, as a rule, do not have collars, but are made with a simple round or oval neckline.Sometimes the neckline on such blouses is decorated with decorative lacing or ribbons so that you can adjust the depth of the cutout yourself.

For sewing blouses with raglan sleeves, soft, thin, flowing fabrics are chosen that keep their shape well. The color scheme of such blouses can be very different: from restrained pastel to bright, saturated. All kinds of prints are also relevant.

What to wear with?

A blouse with raglan sleeves usually creates a rather fluffy, voluminous top, so it is recommended to harmonize it with things of a simpler cut. This can be jeans, tight-fitting trousers, or a straight skirt. High-heeled shoes or platform sandals will help make the look as feminine as possible.

The raglan sleeve itself is a rather original decorative element of clothing, so you should not overload the image with an abundance of accessories. It will be enough to emphasize the neckline with a thin chain. You can add an elegant bracelet and laconic earrings to it.

Spectacular images

The blouse, made in a combination of two contrasting colors, looks original. White trousers and black heeled sandals are perfect for the pink and black model. Excellent choice for every day!

Another casual look: a feminine peplum blouse is made in a combination of white and orange. The set is complemented by light blue skinny jeans and light sandals in the color of the blouse.

I love blouses with unusual sleeves, but did not know what they are called. Everything is laid out on the shelves + invaluable tips. Thanks!
