The sheepskin coat-pilot appeared in the women's wardrobe recently, having migrated there directly from the cockpits of the aircraft. It was originally created for US pilots who needed a warm, lightweight and comfortable outer jacket that could withstand extreme temperatures.

What is a sheepskin coat pilot?

This is a cropped jacket with a zip, sometimes covered with a placket with buttons. As a rule, a pilot sheepskin coat has a large turn-down collar that fastens to the top, securely covering the neck and lower part of the face. There are not many decorations on such a sheepskin coat - these are patch pockets and fur, which can be seen on the cuffs.

Length

Simple cut and laconic color (most often "pilots" are black or brown) allow young ladies to wear this jacket "to feast and to the world", while remaining stylish, but at the same time feeling comfortable.

Models

The designers put in a lot of imagination, working on a variety of models of sheepskin coats-pilots. Today they are presented both in a classic, slightly rough version of dense leather, and in almost weightless combinations with various types of fur. Thinly dressed sheepskin coats are suitable for the off-season, when you do not want to make the image heavier, more "impressive" models will warm you up for the winter no worse than a fur coat.

The "pilots" also differ in cut.

Absolutely straight models are considered traditional, which can have utilitarian decorations in the form of tabs along the hem that can be tightened.

But there are also fitted sheepskin coats, and even variations of the “pilot” with an A-shaped cut, where the bottom of the product is much wider than in the shoulder line.

Despite the fact that initially "pilot" does not imply a hood, designers use it all over the place. You can easily find models that are adorned with a fluffy voluminous hood.Sometimes, as a tribute to history, it is even decorated with flight goggles sewn over the top.

Pilot sheepskin coats are a favorite cold-weather clothing for auto ladies. Barshians are happy to choose this type of outerwear, as it is resistant to wiping on the seat, and its length allows you to comfortably steer or enjoy a ride in the passenger seat. The length of the "pilot" in the classic version can vary from ultra-short - to the navel, to elongated - to the middle of the thigh.

The length up to the trouser belt is considered canonical. So the back is covered from the draft and cold, but at the same time the legs do not constrain the jacket's floors. Of course, the designers have found a way to get around the classic length of the sheepskin coat. There are long sheepskin coats-pilots, the zipper on which is sewn in only to the waist. That is, the jacket fastens like a short one, and the floors remain free.

Material and color

Most often in stores you can find sheepskin coats of the "pilot" model in a calm restrained range: black, dark gray or blue, khaki or brown. There are deviations towards light shades - beige, coffee with milk, sand. It is rare to find "pilots" in bright colors.

As a material for this outerwear, a dense sheepskin is usually chosen, which is excellently worn for many seasons without losing its appearance. Variants with dark skin and light, even white fur are often found.

What to wear with?

The sheepskin pilot will fit perfectly into the everyday wardrobe, as it is versatile in combination with other things. The ideal option is high boots or boots with rough soles, skinny jeans and a sweater. In cold weather, you can put on a very warm jacket under a sheepskin coat, tie a voluminous snood around your neck, and dark ugg boots on your legs. Cozy and comfortable look!

The "pilot" looks great with skirts and dresses of any length. For every day - with soft knits, knitwear, cashmere or wool. Boho-style floor-length skirts look good with a rough jacket.

Lovers of contrasts will appreciate how the "pilot" is transformed by wearing a light lace or silk dress under him. Thick dark tights and ankle boots with steady heels complete the look. Please note that a thin stiletto heel will not fit the "pilot", it will look ridiculous.

Bright plain dresses or outfits with an active pattern are also good in combination with a sheepskin coat. Emerald, scarlet, ultramarine dresses, skirts with a leopard print or ethnic prints will become the center of the image, beautifully set off by leather clothing.
