A hoverboard is undoubtedly a useful thing, but in some cases it is difficult to argue that instead of it it would be better to have some other means of transportation. It is a pity to throw away the old two-wheeled unit, but reselling it at such a price that you can buy another type of transport is unlikely to work. Craftsmen in many cases are not engaged in trade, but in reworking the mechanism with their own hands - thanks to this, it is possible to make the transport change beyond recognition. Let's consider what can be made from a gyroscooter.

Electric scooter

One of the popular options for altering a gyro scooter is production of a self-propelled scooter on its basis. Such a unit does not require passengers to have the same high ability to maintain balance; in this regard, it is even simpler than a bicycle, therefore it is in demand.

It should be clarified that in most cases, for the manufacture of an electric scooter, an ordinary scooter is needed - it will be this scooter that will be the basis for the future unit.

From the hoverboard itself, only the wheel motor is used - ideally, it should be the same diameter as the scooter. Experts advise to first make a rear fork for a motor-wheel made of wood or thick cardboard - so you can immediately see your mistakes. And you will make a full-fledged part made from a reliable square pipe according to a previously checked sample.

After the metal fork has been cut, welded and sanded, the bracket is bolted onto it with nuts and bolts. Wherein it is necessary to provide a voltage supply to the brushless motor - without a controller, your scooter will remain ordinary, not electric.In terms of power, the controller must match the motor. Most often, it is mounted on the rear fork, which means that you need to route the wiring along the frame to the throttle handle, while the wires are usually fixed with plastic fasteners. In a convenient place, a charger connector should be installed in the system.

Lithium batteries will store the electric scooter's charge and can be installed in parallel or in series. Excessive charge threatens, at best, with rapid deterioration of the batteries, therefore, you need to additionally install a BMS controller - it will not allow the capacity to be exceeded.

The assembled structure should be carefully tested in the room, protecting it from dirt and dust. If the resulting scooter works properly, and there are no complaints about it, you need to take care of protecting the main units from dirt and moisture. The lid is best made from a 2 mm sheet of aluminum using a template previously made on cardboard. In order not to spoil the design of the unit, Before mounting on self-tapping screws, the cover is painted in a color that logically fits into the color scheme of the vehicle.

Baby car

An ordinary gyro scooter for a small child can be too difficult a test for the ability to keep balance, and it will not be able to take two passengers at once. One of the inventive parents once realized that a small electric car can be built on the basis of a gyro scooter - not only will the structure turn out to be much more stable, but also there are two places in it instead of one!

The key feature of this solution is that kart is just a "trailer" for a hoverboard, which means that it can be unhooked at any time, again getting an ordinary hoverboard at the exit in its original form.

The beginning of the "car" assembly consists in uncoiling the rear axle, on which you will need to attach two wheels of the same diameter as that of the gyro scooter itself.

In this case, the width of the rear axle can be deliberately increased in comparison with the width of the gyroscooter - this increases the stability of the machine and minimizes the risk of an accident. Further, the frame of the future electric vehicle is welded from the profile pipe with a reserve for the front and rear seats. The rear seat usually rises directly above the rear wheels, and shock absorbers are built into its supports to mitigate shaking for both passengers. Driver's front seat, it should theoretically be more convenient, because for its manufacture they usually use a ready-made version of a seat with a backrest from something.

The welded frame is tried on to the gyroscooter, and if everything is in order with it, the master proceeds to the next stage - the final adjustment, grinding the seams, sanding any traumatic notches. After that, it is necessary to weld on the floor from a thick layer of sheet metal that can support the weight of two children. In all cases, preference is given to aluminum, because, despite its low weight, it is quite strong and is able to withstand the mass of passengers without creating an excessive load on the gyro scooter engine. After the bottom is welded on, you can start painting to give the product a decorative look.

Some craftsmen also consider it necessary to take care of the case in the form of walls and doors, at least not high. If you have the material, time and good skills of the welder, they can be done, but it should be remembered that the possibilities of the gyro scooter engine are far from limitless. Planning to construct a whole "convertible", you must be sure that either the engine is powerful enough or that you are choosing really light materials.

Children's bike without controller

In some cases, the original hoverboard is so old and worn out that there is simply no point in updating its electronic components.In this version, it would only be subject to being sent to a landfill, but an experienced person with hands is able to use it more logically - as a part for making a children's bicycle. Such a design, due to the lack of a controller and batteries, will represent transport, set in motion only by the efforts of the legs of a small passenger, but he will certainly be delighted anyway.

The hoverboard may not undergo any design changes, although it is not forbidden to remove all unnecessary from the case - since the batteries and controllers will not be used for their intended purpose, let them not add extra weight to the vehicle. Otherwise, this is a ready-made rear axle with wheels attached to it.

The task of the craftsman is to find an old or purchase a new front wheel with pedals, which will replace the missing motor in the new vehicle. Having in front of your eyes the rear axle with wheels and the front wheel with pedals, you can make an approximate drawing of the frame, so that it fits a small passenger in height. For the manufacture of the frame, it is best to use aluminum profile pipes, since they are very strong and light at the same time, which means that the child does not have to make huge efforts to travel.

If you have never had any prior experience in designing such complex mechanisms, you can first try to make all the parts from more malleable materials such as wood. After trying on everything that turned out, you will see your blots, if any, or you will get ready-made templates that allow you to more accurately cut aluminum.

Having cut out the required number of parts, weld them, try again on the hoverboard and the front wheel, with which they will need to be fastened with screws or welded seams. All surfaces must be carefully sanded. If you have any difficulties with the manufacture of individual bike parts, you can buy them in the store (especially for the seat), but it is advisable to foresee this moment in advance, otherwise it is not a fact that you will be able to adjust your welding to factory components.

Test the structure first without a child - check if the pedals rotate normally, if the stroke is too tight, if it is convenient to turn the steering wheel.

Various accessories such as headlights, baskets or brakes are not necessary for a 3-wheel children's bike, but for most kids it is important that their vehicle looks beautiful, because paint the frame of the bike with bright colors.
