A turban is a traditional headdress worn by residents of the East. However, now it has turned into a global trend that does not lose its position for every season. Today we will talk about how to tie a turban beautifully yourself and what you can use for this.

What can you make a turban?

The main thing to pay attention to is the quality and structure of the fabric from which the turban is to be twisted. Rigid fabric such as flax is not suitable for this purpose, since the coarse angular folds look unattractive.

You can try using a silk scarf or headscarf, either plain or with a print.... Silk shimmers beautifully in the sun and drapes well, but this material is rather slippery, so it can lose its shape during wear.

Autumn-winter option - the use of a cotton or woolen stole. Due to its increased length and width, the turban will turn out to be taller and more voluminous.

In summer, when the heat is unbearable and the sun is baking, you can cover your head by wrapping a T-shirt around it. This is also a kind of turban, most often used by men.

Do not forget also that the turban can be worn not only on the street. Remember what you put on your head when you get out of the shower with wet hair? That's right, a towel.

It absorbs excess liquid, and the curls become drier. The main thing is not to twist it too much, so as not to harm the hair.

Traditional ways of tying

Let's get down to learning how to tie a turban with your own hands. And let's start, of course, with the simplest ones.

Option number 1

You will need a long scarf.Choose the color and print to your taste.

So:

  • collect curls in a "bun", secure with an elastic band;
  • lower your head down, cover it with a scarf - as a result, the back of the head will be closed, and the edges of the scarf should hang freely forward;
  • cross these edges in the frontal zone, then wrap them around the "bun";
  • interlace the ends of the scarf together until they are shortened to such an extent that they can be "hidden" under the drapery and fixed.

Option number 2

Suitable for those who like to wear a turban-bandage with loose hair.

Algorithm of actions:

  • loosen the curls, comb;
  • keeping your head straight, pass the scarf under your hair without hiding it;
  • cross the ends of the scarf in the forehead area, wrap them around your head, and do this until you can remove them under the turban;
  • it is recommended to place a decorative brooch in the front center (if you like such decorations) or leave a knot.

Exotic techniques

Now that we have learned the basic techniques of tying a turban, we can move on to more complex methods.

With twisting

There are several such options.

  • Fold the scarf, stole, or pareo in half lengthwise, throw it over the back of the head, pointing the ends towards the face. In the frontal area, twist them into a tight tourniquet (similar to how you twist a bath towel).

This tourniquet should "gird" the head, and tuck its tip under it in the forehead area.

  • Fold the chosen accessory in the same way as in the previous case, but throw it over the forehead, and take the ends to the back of the head. There, twist them with a tourniquet and, leading around the circumference of the head, return to the occipital region and tuck the tip of the tourniquet under it.
  • Another interesting way is with a "donut" in front. First, we do everything the same as in the first case: we put the scarf on the back of the head, bring its ends to the forehead, twist them. And then we begin the formation of the "snail": we wind the resulting tourniquet on its base in a circular motion. The result is a voluminous "bun". We hide the end of the tourniquet under it, you can fix it with a pin.

However, this method of tying a turban involves bright catchy makeup and large accessories.

With a loop

This option can be worn with loose hair or completely hidden under a turban.

  • Throw the selected accessory (scarf, scarf) over the back of the head, bring the ends to the face. In the frontal area, overlap them crosswise.
  • Form a loop at one end and thread the other end of the scarf through it.
  • Tighten the loop. Put the free ends of the scarf behind your head and hide them under the resulting turban.

In turkish

Another original way. You will need a beautiful bright scarf or kerchief.

  • If you chose a square scarf, fold it diagonally to form a triangle. Throw it over the back of your head. The "top" of the triangle should be on the forehead.
  • Pull the ends of the scarf forward, twist in the frontal zone, then take them to the back of the head and twist again.
  • This should be done until the ends of the scarf become very small (10-15 centimeters). They should be tied in a knot and tucked under a turban.
  • The "top" of the triangle, the one on the forehead, needs to be folded back and tucked under the resulting harnesses.

Tunisian

The female version of wearing a headscarf in Tunisia is the hijab, not the turban. Special canvases for its formation are sold in eastern markets and have a huge variety of colors and excellent quality.

However, you can try to tie the hijab using a regular headscarf. True, its parameters should be at least 1.5x1.5 m.

  • Fold the scarf on one side about 15 centimeters, and place it with this edge on your forehead.
  • Secure the hijab under your chin using a simple safety pin. And attention: one hanging edge should be longer than the other.
  • Lay the tip, which is shorter, on the neck, and wrap it with a long one a couple of times (as long as the length is enough), drape beautifully and secure with a brooch in the collarbone or in the temporal zone.

African

We have all seen photographs of exotic African women, and very often bright turbans flaunt on their heads.

Let's learn how to properly shape the African version of the turban.

  • First, comb your hair up and twist it into a bun. Secure it well with an elastic band.
  • Next, take a scarf, throw it on the back of your head, grabbing the "bump", bring the ends forward.
  • Cross them in the frontal area, take them back to the occipital area. There, cross them again, direct them to the face.
  • Move towards the "bun". You will need to twist the scarf around it, completely hiding the hair.
  • When the scarf has ends 10-15 centimeters long, tuck them into the folds of the resulting turban or under it in the back of the head.

With harnesses

To implement this option, you can use two scarves of different colors, for example, gray and purple, black and tiffany, green and red. There will be a special chic in mixing shades.

  • Place one scarf on top of another, cover your head with them and tighten a tight knot at the back of your head. Hair should not be visible.
  • Start twisting the free ends of the scarf, as if weaving a braid. Do it in any order: you can braid one pigtail, you can twist 2 flagella, and then twist them together - your imagination here can roam with might and main.
  • Next, we draw the resulting tourniquet along the head to the face, moving along a semicircle. We hide the end of the scarf under the turban, fix it with a pin.

Male version

An Indian variation on tying a turban, suitable for an adult man or boy.

For these purposes, a scarf will not work - you will have to purchase a piece of fabric about 6 meters long. Its width can be 10-20 centimeters.

  • If a man's hair is long, it should be gathered in a bun and secured.
  • Next, you can put on a special hat (fez, skullcap, patka) or a bandana, or you can start winding the turban around your bare head.
  • After that, the main work begins - the formation of the turban. The selected segment must be wrapped diagonally in layers, moving first from right to left, and then vice versa. In this case, you need to make sure that each previous layer "looks out" from under the next.
  • You can close the crown by releasing one layer of winding on top and distributing it over the head.
  • The remaining tip of the cut is tucked under the turban.

Stylist tips

Now let's take a look at the recommendations of the fashion professionals.

  • Pay attention to your face... This means that a pale and tired appearance and a turban are incompatible things. Remember oriental beauties and their bright makeup! Even if you don't like to use makeup, remember: an even skin tone, well-groomed eyebrows and long eyelashes are a necessity, not a whim.

By the way, it is recommended to focus attention either on the eyes or on the lips - choose one thing so as not to look vulgar.

  • Use accessories: large earrings, necklaces, chains. They will add exotic to the image. You can also decorate the turban itself with a beautiful brooch.
  • Decide if you want to wear a turban with loose or with hair tucked under it.... In the first case, it is recommended to tie a high "bun" and fix it with an elastic band, in the second - to dissolve the previously washed and dried curls, comb them well and then form a turban. Straighten them or wind them up is a matter of your taste.
  • If wearing a turban is not a tribute to religion, but just part of a fashionable bow, try to make the ears slightly "peek" out from under it.
  • When tying a turban do not be zealous and pull your head with all your might - so you can only harm yourself by causing a headache.

Beautiful images

Well, now it's time to look at our photo selection and try to repeat the image you like.

  • This gorgeous multicolored African-style turban is complemented by a pair of massive gold drop earrings. Pay attention to the model's makeup: carefully accentuated eyebrows and bright eyes are ideally combined with almost nude lips.
  • And this is the modern version of the hijab.As you can see, a shawl in muted colors perfectly complements the beauty's business bow. Smokey Ice paired with nude lipstick complete the look.
  • This type of turban is often wound on the beach. It goes well with dark glasses, round gold earrings and bright red lips.
  • But such a turban, created from an ordinary checkered scarf, can be worn in everyday life, combining it with a leather biker jacket, jeans and rough boots or boots. A massive hoop necklace completes the look.
  • Another great exotic option: a turban with a tourniquet in golden-beige tones, it is ideally combined with large mother-of-pearl earrings and the same necklace. The emphasis in makeup is on the eyes.
