Many stories and legends are associated with rubellite. According to one of the ancient legends, this stone (or rather, the decoration of it in the form of a vine) was taken out of hell. Its first owner was a Chaldean magician who obtained rubellite by fraud. Since then, he has become capable of passing through time and space.

What it is?

Rubellite is a semi-precious stone that has a reddish-pink color. It owes its name to ruby, for which rubellite was taken for a long time. This confusion stems from the stones' incredible visual similarity. Rubellite was first described by the scientist Richard Kirvanov in 1794. Since the 18th century, the stone has been used to decorate the wedding crowns of Russian monarchs. Today it belongs to class 2 gemstones.

The color palette of rubellite includes many shades of red - from pale pink to deep red with a purple sheen. Color features affect its cost. For example, rubellite of a dark cherry hue is considered more valuable and expensive; it has its own name - sibirite. Rubellite has a luster that is especially noticeable on the edges of the stone.

The most famous variety of rubellite is a precious bunch of grapes stored in the Diamond Fund of Russia. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was believed that the bunch was made of ruby, but academician A.E. Fersman proved that the crystal belongs to a variety of tourmaline - rubellite.

If you look deeper into history, you can find that this type of red tourmaline (namely, the mineral in question) appeared 1000 years BC. NS. Descriptions have survived, according to which it can be judged that the mineral was on the list of Cleopatra's jewelry.

Place of Birth

Rubellite first came to the European continent from India, from where it was brought by sailors. However, today it is mined all over the world. The mineral fills quartz and pegmatite vein cavities. As mineralogists note, if rubellite appeared under the influence of high temperatures, then it will be dull and very dark, almost black. Rubellite of light shades appears under the influence of low temperatures, while its prismatic shape is shortened.

The mineral is often found in ores that are of magmatic origin. Due to the resistance of the stone to temperature effects (both high and low), moisture and mechanical influence, rubellites are often found in river channels, in mountain caves in the form of sedimentary deposits, on gentle hills.

Today, the rubellite deposit is called Brazil, where the most valuable varieties of it are mined. One druse can weigh up to 4 tons, and the maximum length of the shoots is up to half a meter. On the island of Elba, some of the most beautiful stones are mined; they were even given a special name - Elbaites.

In Russia, rubellites are mined on the territory of Transbaikalia and the Urals. However, the Ural rubellite was especially widespread during the time of Peter the Great. Today this location has been exhausted, the main one is Transbaikalia. Finally, there are stone deposits in America, Madagascar, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Africa.

Properties

The value of the mineral depends on the color. Like any stone, it becomes a talisman only if the owner of the jewelry has a positive attitude and good thoughts.

Physical

The pinkish tint of the stone is due to the presence of manganese impurities in it. It has a density below average (2.9-3.26 g / cm3). Crystals have a triangular shape with rounded corners. In nature, it occurs in the form of a single formation or as drusen aggregates (needle-like or radial-radiant).

With a sufficiently low density, the stone has increased strength - after processing it cannot be scratched. Rubellite has another interesting property - when heated, it attracts small pieces of paper.

The structure of rubellite can be matte or transparent. The second types of stones are valued higher and are used for jewelry (rings, pendants, earrings, head jewelry). Matte stones usually become beads, bracelet elements. Large matte minerals are used for fakes, interior items.

It is also believed that the stone protects against unequal influences - slander, damage, witchcraft. The bright and attractive energy of rubellite makes it a talisman of public figures, as well as creative people.

According to feng shui, Rubellite belongs to the element of fire, so it is located in the southern sector in the house. Meditation on a stone can nullify negative energy and charge you with positive emotions. To do this, the stone is held at chest level, feeling how a pinkish cloud envelops everything around.

Rubellite is called a stone that can improve memory, relieve nightmares and normalize the background. In addition, it improves digestion, enhances immunity, and has a positive effect on the state of the nervous system. Rubellites of bright red color improve the functioning of the urinary system. They also help with diseases of the cardiovascular and circulatory systems. Rubellite is considered primarily a male stone, since it increases potency, improves the health of the stronger sex.

Who is it suitable for?

Rubellite is the stone of the air signs of the zodiac. Most of all, the stone is suitable for Libra men. It will give the owner self-confidence, courage, courage. Libra women, thanks to rubellite, become calmer, aimed at creating family comfort. The stone will help Scorpios gain sexual energy, confidence in their masculine strength. He will bring good health to Leo and Aries, fill life with “correct” energy.

The stone will allow Cancers to keep vigor and "cold mind" in difficult situations. It will help to show intuition and thereby avoid troubles. For Sagittarius, a mineral can be a kind of navigator, by which one can judge the successful or not very successful outcome of the plan. The main thing is to learn how to “understand” the stone correctly.

Rubellite will also be suitable for such signs of the zodiac as Sagittarius, Leo, Capricorn. For Lions, by the way, rubellite is considered one of the most effective and powerful amulets. It must be worn on the body. In this case, the talisman will give help and support, spiritual strength and perseverance.

Strong-minded Taurus can rely on a stone - the mineral will help maintain a clear mind, not suffer financial losses, and avoid fraudulent actions in relation to oneself. An important condition is that you need to wear the stone on your hand and only with pure thoughts.

Rubellite will have a similar effect on Pisces. In addition, it will protect its owner from gossip and bad thoughts. Rubellite will help Aquarius unleash their potential, give positive energy of creation, which will lead to increased material well-being.

Gemini, however, should wear rubellite with care. In the best case, the stone will show a neutral energy in relation to its owner. But if he has bad thoughts and intentions, then rubellite is capable of causing harm.

The stone is not recommended for Virgo women. More precisely, the stone will be just an adornment that does not exhibit magical and medicinal properties. Rubellite is contraindicated for Virgo men. As a consequence of wearing it, there is a change in character towards imbalance, softness, capriciousness. The stone will not work for Capricorns either. You don't need to wear it or just keep it in the house.

As a rule, a more saturated shade of rubellites (red, crimson, cherry) is worn by men. The lighter stones (pinkish red) are women.

Rubellite jewelry is recommended to be worn in the following cases:

  • in case of exposure to stress, loss of strength, after severe nervous tension - rubellite bracelet or beads;
  • for migraines, headaches - beads from this stone;
  • in case of nightmares or, on the contrary, insomnia, rubellite is recommended to be placed under the pillow;
  • in case of love discord and the extinction of feelings in the family - a ring with a reddish-ruby tourmaline (it should be worn on the index finger of the left hand).

Strong medicinal and magical properties are possessed by minerals richer in color, framed in gold. However, if a piece of jewelry suits a person, then a stone in silver can become a reliable amulet. An important point - jewelry with tourmaline is not recommended to be worn all the time without taking it off. This can cause a duality of perception of reality, "tear" from the ground.

How to identify a fake?

The hardest thing to counterfeit is the pink tourmaline. When heated (and this is how most imitations are created), it acquires a brown or uneven brown tint. Lighting will help to distinguish a fake - in strong light, pink tourmaline turns brownish. If this did not happen, then this is a fake.

When buying rubellite, it is important to pay attention to some parameters.

  1. Real stone is hard and durable and cannot be scratched. The same cannot be said about the fake.
  2. It is necessary to slightly heat the rubellite, and then bring small pieces of paper to it. A real stone will begin to attract them, a fake cannot do this.
  3. As a rule, natural stone does not have a flawless texture - one way or another, there are inclusions inside it, the smallest scratches.
  4. It is necessary to hold the tourmaline in your hands. If it immediately warms up from the heat, this is not a real stone, but a fake.

These manipulations can be carried out before buying, but after them (even if the stone has passed the "exam"), it is better to take it to a jeweler and get a specialist's opinion.

Care and storage

When purchasing rubellite, you should immediately buy a cover with soft walls for storing it. Despite its resistance to sunlight, this mineral is best kept in a case. An important point - you do not need to store rubellite with other stones. More precisely, each stone should have its own separate place, since they all have different energies.

      If the stone is dusty, it is enough to wipe it with a cloth and soap, and then rinse it under clean running water. The stone should dry naturally. If such cleaning does not help, it is better to take it to a jewelry workshop. There it will be cleaned and polished by professionals. It is unacceptable to resort to the use of aggressive or alkaline, as well as abrasive products.
