Types and models

Caps, like most other originally masculine things, slowly but surely migrated into the women's wardrobe. They replaced the hats that were no longer so relevant. The main part of any cap is a visor of various shapes and lengths.

Consider the most common types and models of women's caps:

  • Baseball caps. They were invented around the middle of the last century to protect American baseball players from the sweltering sun. Over time, baseball caps became popular with team fans, and then spread to the rest of the population. The baseball cap is characterized by a slightly elongated visor and a special cut of an oval six-piece base.
  • Cap with a straight peak. Similar to a baseball cap with a square base. Such stylish caps are loved by representatives and fans of hip-hop and rap culture.
  • Bicycle cap. An analogue of a baseball cap, but with a shorter visor. The teenage and youth version provides for a "lifted" visor.
  • Truck driver's cap. Also similar to a baseball cap, but with a longer, curved visor. Often a fine mesh is sewn into the back of the head.
  • Visor. Cap in the form of a visor attached to a ribbon. Used when playing tennis or volleyball. This "under-cap" is also convenient because the head will not sweat even with intensive training.
  • Denim caps. Wearability and high quality material are combined with versatility. Youth options for women's denim caps are decorated with appliqués, embroidery, lace, rhinestones, sequins, chains or interesting prints.
  • Three-blade. The pattern is built on the basis of three wedges. The visor is slightly smaller than that of a regular cap.
  • The pentacle. It looks like a three-piece cap, but the back of the head is sewn in three parts.
  • Eight-piece (gavroche cap). The upper part is assembled from eight wedges. Such caps are often called "hooligans" for their similarity to the models common in the middle of the last century. With the right selection of other wardrobe items, it can be not only masculine hooligan, but also quite feminine.
  • Flat cap. It is cut along with the visor, which does not have a solid backing, therefore its shape is narrowed and shortened.
  • Jockey caps (jockey caps). Rounded hats in the form of a bowler hat, with an indispensable visor. The crown is most often planted on a rigid, solid base. Sometimes such products are complemented by a flirty fluffy pom-pom or animalistic ears.
  • Cap-bell. They resemble graceful hats with a small visor. Sewn from plain felt, often decorated with ribbons, bows, feathers and artificial flowers.
  • Beret cap. The cut of such a product provides for a loose fit, and the visor protects from rain or wind.
  • German cap. A product of a strict straight cylindrical shape in an army style. It is characterized by a low, straight crown and a strong rectangular peak.
  • Cap. It differs from other caps with an inflated rounded base. Along the rim and the upper edge of the crown it is decorated with a welt. The cap is not pulled over the head to the end.
  • French cap. It has a flat, rounded crown and a small peak. Historically appeared in the French army. Its predecessor was a reed frame covered with lightweight fabric.
  • Breton cap. Caps with a soft band. Considered a classic sailor headdress. In Russia it is better known under the name "cap".
  • Cap-cap. A kind of army cap. It is characterized by a bottom of a rounded or oval silhouette and an extended crown. A decorative tape or cord conceals a seam at the border of the visor with a band.
  • Beanie. Visually, it is a simple hat with lapels and a slightly curved visor. Sewn from dense materials. The base of the beanie is made of six petals. Popular with young people involved in winter sports such as snowboarding.
  • Fur caps. They are made of artificial or natural fur, they are also tinted in bright colors - red, pink, blue, yellow ... Often decorated with brooches, rhinestones, beads.

Styles

If historically caps were associated only with military and sports style, today it is customary to combine them with many other style trends.

  • When playing sports, an unappreciated accessory will be a baseball cap, bicycle or the so-called trucker cap. In winter, popular beanie will be appropriate on the slopes, and in summer on the courts, practical visors will support a sporty style.
  • Military style is unthinkable without a suitable headgear. The most common army-style caps are caps, hats, Breton, French caps, and a German cap.
  • A youthful image is inconceivable without an actual cap - young maidens wear baseball caps with slogans, denim caps with stripes, caps with ears and caps made of bright "Cheburashka".
  • Glamorous caps are decorated with prints, stickers, rhinestones, stones and crystals. They come in a wide variety of colors and styles.
  • The romantic look will be supported by bell caps, jockey caps, denim caps with lace and multi-colored fur hats with a visor.
  • To create an image in a nautical or sailor style, it is enough to put on a cap made of natural material, stylized as a sailor's cap.
  • The rapper style is a cap with a straight brim, often worn backwards, adorned with logos, rhinestones, stones and shining lettering.
  • Rocker style will help to embody leather caps with rivets, spikes, skulls or glasses.
  • Felt bell caps, classic five-piece caps, caps-berets and caps made of expensive fur will perfectly fit into the business style of a modern business woman.

For women 50 years

Older women often adorn themselves with all sorts of caps. The main thing here is to avoid overtly youthful, extravagant or catchy models. Military-style caps for women in their fifties are not quite suitable. It is better to wear sports caps only for sports, recreation in the country or walking in the woods.

A strict cut of five or eight pieces, a classic beret cap or a slightly extravagant cap-bell will adorn any lady of age. The length of the visor of the selected products is preferable to medium or minimum. A fur cap is recommended from a short, neutral shade of fur.

Fashion trends

Light negligence is the main trend of the current season. It also applies to caps to a certain extent. It is known that not everyone likes to wear hats, even in frosty weather or, conversely, in the bright summer sun.

But rarely does any modern girl pass by a "boy" cap or a hooligan baseball cap. Openly male models, decorated with typical female decorative elements, look great: bright embroidery, iridescent logos, rich prints and rhinestones.

Textile

Sports and summer caps are mainly made from lightweight natural materials - cotton or linen. Often on sale there are polyester baseball caps - it is better to avoid such products, they do not breathe well, and in the heat they will be uncomfortable, even overheating is possible.

Caps made of lightweight cotton jersey fit perfectly on the head and protect their wearers from the scorching sun rays. Denim caps have not gone out of fashion for many years, they are comfortable, durable and attract a variety of models.

In the cool season, insulated caps made of woolen materials (for example, drape, tweed or bouclé), as well as fur (especially exquisite products are obtained from mink, seal, Rex rabbit, as well as astrakhan and muton), are in great demand.

Autumn "eight-piece" and flat caps are made of cashmere, jacquard, gabardine, velor or velvet. An alternative to them is leather (natural or artificial) or suede. It is customary to warm leather caps with fur if they are intended for winter wear. Felt caps, mostly jockey and bells, not only keep their shape well, but also perfectly warm the heads of their owners.

Knitted caps are quite common among girls and women of all ages. Moreover, such caps can be bought ready-made or knitted, independently or to order according to the picture you like.

Caps are knitted from various materials: natural (wool, cashmere, angora, mohair) and synthetic (acrylic, polyamide, viscose). The result is inimitable and unique models that can enrich the image with a truly bright accent.

Color and print

At the peak of popularity this season, caps of all shades, ranging from classic tones (black, white, gray, beige, brown), and ending with extravagant, bright and rich colors (juicy red, emerald green, bright blue, yellow and white metallic) ... Combined models are often found, including from two to four colors.

A checkered cap is a fashion classic. Moreover, it can be both monochrome and multicolored. The size of the cage also varies - from small, formed by interlacing woolen threads to large "plaid". Of the traditional prints, I would also like to mention the ageless goose foot. Caps with animal and plant prints add a touch of insolence and charm to the image.

Caps with a crocodile or snake skin pattern can be especially distinguished.

How to choose?

A cap is not only a fashion accessory, but also a headpiece designed to protect its owner from unfavorable weather: sunlight, rain, wind, frost or snow. Therefore, it should be selected:

  • firstly, depending on the destination;
  • secondly, in size;
  • thirdly, taking into account the shape of the head and face;
  • fourthly, not forgetting about the correspondence of the novelty to your main style direction of the wardrobe.

As for the purpose, everything is simple - for the summer we choose light breathable caps, for the off-season - warmed ones, and the warmest ones, with fur and closed ears, are suitable for wearing in winter.

The wider the top of the cap, the more visually voluminous the head appears. We advise girls of tall stature to abandon caps with an inflated base, since such products can visually add a couple more centimeters, although this quality is very useful for young ladies of short stature.

The length of the visor is selected depending on the shape of the face. If the options with a short visor suit everyone, then a long straight visor can be recommended for girls and women with an oval face and medium-sized facial features. In addition, a straight visor visually expands the face, so it is not suitable for those with widened cheekbones. In order to visually narrow the cheekbones, a curved narrow visor should be preferred.

What to wear with?

Fashionable youth caps with slogans and prints are best worn with sportswear.

Girls can create an ensemble from a baseball cap and a dress, but for this, at least one sports detail is needed in the image - a matching jacket or sneakers. Models of military caps will look great in combination with camouflage clothes, as well as with the usual casual-style things: jeans, T-shirts and jackets.

Denim caps don't go well with sportswear, but they also work great with a casual outfit. It should be remembered that denim caps are not recommended to be combined with other things made of similar material - jeans or a jacket.

A winter cap can be worn with a bulky coat, a short fur coat or a stylish down jacket. You should not choose overly feminine fitted coats or fur coats for a combination with a cap. Fur caps should not be worn with fur coats.

Jockey jackets go well with stylish parkas or sporty chic raincoats. It is advisable to choose shoes with low heels or platforms.

Stylish looks

  1. A modern youth look: stylish New York baseball cap, slogan sweatshirt, ripped denim shorts and dark sneakers with white laces.
  2. An autumn eight-piece cap in a small cage will suit women of any age. It will be appropriate in an ensemble with a cozy bright handmade scarf.
  3. The jockey made of 100% felted wool resembles a flirty hat. "Cat" ears add playfulness and a certain amount of piquancy to the look.
