In various ratings of natural products, Weleda cosmetics rightfully occupy one of the first places. Its first recipes were created almost 100 years ago, but today the company's products are in demand due to their high efficiency.

A brief history of the brand

The history of the company began in the 1920s in Germany. Its founders are considered the philosopher and educator Rudolf Steiner, Dr. Itu Wegman and chemist Oskar Schmidel. In 1921, in Switzerland, they opened a clinic where patients were treated according to anthroposophical principles, that is, activating the body's own forces. For the production of medicines and natural cosmetics aimed at self-healing of the body, a German company was created, now known as the Weleda company. At the same time, the basic principles were formulated, which the manufacturer still adheres to:

  • the main role of both medicine and cosmetology is to stimulate the body's own forces;
  • using only natural plant materials, all components of which interact in the best way;
  • compliance with strict quality standards at all stages of production - from growing raw materials to strict control over the storage of products.

At the same time, the Weleda logo was invented, which depicts a stylized symbol of medicine and the first cosmetic products, which are still popular all over the world, were created: oil and a strengthening hair tonic, delicate face oil and others. In 1924, international branches began to open: first in France, then in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, and the USA.

In the post-war period, the range of cosmetic products has significantly expanded, and a line for children based on calendula has also appeared.New branches and production facilities were opened. Together with other organic cosmetics manufacturers, Weleda has set clear guidelines for the use of the term "natural cosmetics". The European quality standard NaTrue was developed, issued to cosmetic companies that produce truly natural cosmetics. Today Weleda is the world's largest manufacturer of high quality organic cosmetics and effective medicines, formulated according to the principles of anthroposophic medicine., taking into account the peculiarities of the interaction of natural components with the human body.

Quality comes first

At Weleda, quality starts from the very beginning - with raw materials. In the production of its products, the company uses about 200 species of plants.... Weleda buys only a part of them from reliable and proven partners - the company supports more than fifty suppliers of raw materials in different countries of the world. Most of them are grown on the company's lands.

Our own gardens, where valuable medicinal plants are grown, are an important part of the Weleda philosophy. The first of them appeared in Germany in 1921, it still remains the largest (reaches 23 hectares) - it is the largest European farm operating in compliance with environmental principles. The company has 8 gardens in total: besides German there is also in Great Britain, Argentina, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil and New Zealand. The cultivation of plants here is carried out using the biodynamic method, that is, with a complete rejection of chemicals (fertilizers, insecticides, etc.) and in absolute accordance with the laws and rhythms of nature.

To maximize the natural vigor of the plants, they are quickly harvested and processed. At the same time, the company tries to use electricity and various radiation as little as possible - all this destroys valuable substances. To obtain one or another ingredient (and in total, Weleda uses more than 1000 natural ingredients), its own methods are used to preserve its beneficial properties as much as possible. For example, to obtain essential oils, the distillation method is used, and the extracts are obtained by prolonged infusion.

Weleda recipes are developed in a scientific laboratory, they include exclusively natural herbal ingredients. The recipe is always very strictly observed, only organic essential oils are used as flavorings and preservatives. Animal tests are not carried out - this is not permitted by the professional ethics of the company's cosmetologists. Even when it comes to packaging, Weleda is true to itself - In the plastic era, many products are still packaged in glass bottles that can be reused or recycled.

Weleda has been on the cosmetic market for almost 100 years. Over the years, it has gained recognition among both ordinary consumers and professionals in the cosmetic industry. The high quality of the company's products is evidenced by the reviews of cosmetologists. They note a completely natural composition, an excellent selection of components - not only very effective individually, but also perfectly complementing each other in the composition of any Weleda product.

Bestsellers of the company

All-natural botanicals, harmoniously combined in Weleda cosmetic products, have worked wonders for almost 100 years. After all, the company still produces products whose recipes were created back in 1921. And they are still effective and enjoy well-deserved popularity among consumers in different countries - from ordinary people to recognized stars of beauty and style. So, Skin Food, one of the most successful creams of the company, has not been discontinued for more than 90 years, is loved by Julia Roberts and Winona Ryder, Victoria Beckham and Rihanna, as well as many other celebrities.

The secret of the popularity of the product is in its natural composition (sunflower and almond oils, beeswax, lanolin, extracts of rosemary, violet, calendula, chamomile, etc.) and proven effective for decades. As its name suggests, the cream really protects, nourishes and softens skin very well, especially dry skin. It is used to care for the whole body, especially for the driest areas (hands, elbows, feet). Periodically, you can use it for the face - as an ambulance.

But for daily skin care, he is, perhaps, a little fat.

Another popular body care product produced by the company is this massage oil "Arnica"... Composed of olive and sunflower oil, arnica and birch leaf extracts, it tones muscles and nourishes the skin. Perfect for pre-workout massage. Among Weleda's bestsellers is a delicate facial oil, created on the basis of almond oil in 1922. It perfectly protects and regenerates dry skin, is an ideal base for make-up and at the same time removes it perfectly. In addition to almond oil, it contains thorn flower extract and oil obtained from plum seeds.

Today the company produces 33 different face products. - both developed 100 years ago and new products. They are designed for different skin ages and different needs, including lines based on almond oil and iris extract, rose seed oil and pomegranate seeds.

They have one thing in common - natural high-quality components and excellent recipes, combining these components in the most successful way.

Since 1922, Weleda has been producing a nourishing oil that is excellent for the care of dry hair. It is formulated with rosemary and lavender oils, burdock root and clover flower extracts, all together they nourish and soften dry hair, leaving it shiny and supple. Perfect for hair after summer heat and beach holidays, to restore and heal them.

To enhance hair growth and reduce hair loss, experts recommend using tonic based on rosemary oil and horseradish leaf extract. It perfectly nourishes the hair follicles and heals the scalp, relieving dandruff. The tonic recipe was developed by the founder of the company - Rudolf Steiner. Weleda's product range now includes hundreds of cosmetics. All cosmetics of the company are completely organic, do not contain any artificial ingredients., including silicones, synthetic dyes, fats, fragrances, preservatives and other substances that are harmful to humans and nature.

Means for expectant mothers and babies

Taking care of beauty and health, Weleda did not bypass its attention and those who need it, perhaps most of all - women expecting a baby. The company has developed 3 unique products rich in vitamin E and essential for pregnant women:

  • oil to fight stretch marks removes existing striae and prevents the appearance of new ones, it can be used from the very beginning of pregnancy, as well as after childbirth, without fear of harming the baby (in the composition: almond oil and wheat seedlings);
  • intimate area oil - used to prevent injuries in the perineum (massage with it increases elasticity and reduces the frequency of tears);
  • oil for the care of breast skin during breastfeeding - prepares breasts for lactation, cares for delicate skin, stimulates the lactation process, reduces milk stagnation.

These products with a natural composition make it much easier for women to take care of themselves during the happiest and most difficult period of life. Another line of Weleda helps mothers raise healthy babies. It is based on calendula extract and includes products for bathing newborns (gels, shampoos, milk), oils and various body creams, products to protect the skin from diaper rash, cream to protect delicate baby skin during the cold season, etc.

The Weleda children's line also includes such indispensable products for babies as oil for massage of the tummy with colic and a gel that facilitates teething of the first teeth.

Weleda has been a model of ideal production for almost a century: the right ideas give birth to the right approach to the organization of production and the right products, distinguished by their excellent natural composition and excellent quality, proven over the years.

Since 1921, the brand has been pursuing its goal of preserving people's health and restoring it when needed.
