Choosing a men's suit for prom should be done as carefully and carefully as possible. Men's trouser suits for boys of 7 years old and youth models for 11th grade graduates naturally differ from each other. White stylish suits and other options also deserve attention.

Species overview

There are several of the more popular costume options, and you should consider them in more detail.

Two-piece suit

A modern prom suit is quite often in this category. Confident people use it. Any footwear and accessories can be used with this type of clothing. A typical composition is a combination of trousers with a vest.

The classic version of the two-piece suits can match the men's fashion quite productively.

The classic consists of trousers and a jacket. But there are also several subspecies that differ in silhouette and minor details. The English cut is best suited for tall and athletic people. But even with a small completeness, this option is best avoided.

The fitted jacket has a couple of slots from the back, and even if you put your hands in your pockets, you can still keep the overall silhouette unchanged.

For comfort, they appreciate the American cut doubles, which have a straight silhouette. Only a single-breasted clasp is used in this version. The legs are rather wide. Lovers of stylish elegance should give preference to the Italian style, in which they achieve an absolutely flat shoulder line (due to the introduction of shoulder pads). German two-piece suits have a wider shoulder girdle, while the jacket is also lengthened.

Three-piece suit

This type of trouser suits for men also does not lose its popularity for many decades. It is not at all necessary to reduce it only to a strict one-color model, although such versions are also used very widely. Experienced designers have learned how to create checkered and striped triplets without the slightest loss in quality and aesthetics. The costumes can be painted in bright and unusual colors, in complex shades. The classic is the vertical stripe, adding harmony, but the current fashion allows you to use triplets with a print from a horizontal stripe and a dimensional cage.

The traditional composition of the troika includes, in addition to a jacket and trousers, a vest. The styles are the same as those of the deuce. This is a versatile and respectable option.

The downside is that only an individually tailored copy will have a perfectly adjusted fit. And even in this case, you will have to use the services of advanced ateliers.

The tuxedo

Such a wardrobe item differs from an ordinary suit in that it always looks graceful and elegant, creates a sense of respectability. In addition to a jacket and trousers open on the chest, the tuxedo includes a bow tie. Instead of a black vest, you can use a satin sash. Lapels are made of silk or satin. The trousers are complemented with shiny stripes on the sides.

A tuxedo is in any case much more expensive than a suit made of the same fabric and is always dyed in the same color.

Combination with a jacket-jacket

In these models, you can demonstrate your solid taste much more profitably than using tuxedos. The main feature is the addition of a stand-up collar and lapels. Most often, this suit covers half the thigh. He will definitely become the concentrator of views at the prom. Both widely used and unusual cropped trousers can be combined with tunic jackets.

A combination of parts with different colors is also allowed. Basically, the trousers will be light, and the jacket will be of a non-standard color (plum, cornflower blue and other rare colors). But the final decision must already be made according to your own taste.

Important: even the most stylish jackets in calm tones in such a combination can ultimately form a gloomy, dull image that gives alarming notes.

Fashionable suits in youth styles are now distinguished by non-standard cut and original details. Buttons and zippers become an appropriate addition to them. If someone likes stripes, then they can also be used very widely and without hesitation. The chances of success will be even greater when using a variety of inserts and original finishes, if only the clothes fit exactly under the figure.

Materials (edit)

Regardless of the style and format of the suit, great attention should be paid to its materials. Even the best cut is unlikely to please if the fabrics do not meet personal needs. A good suiting fabric is one that has a stable shape.

In addition to the inherent properties of the matter that everyone sees, this parameter is directly influenced by the lining and the accessories used.

It is unlikely that someone will like it at prom if pellets appear under the sleeves or next to pockets and buttons. It is worth paying attention to how reliably the fabric is stained, how long it lasts, whether it crumples too much. In addition to these qualities, strength is relevant, which is directly and obviously related to the duration of service.

A good suiting fabric also has a balanced thermal conductivity. In the cold period, it retains heat, and in the summer it allows you not to sweat.

In most cases, suits are made of woolen and semi-woolen fabrics. Ordinary natural wool, due to its hollow structure from the inside, breathes well and retains warmth. Additional benefits of wool are:

  • good absorption and removal of excess moisture;
  • minimal susceptibility to crushing, even if you have to sit for several hours;
  • resistance to ultraviolet radiation;
  • long time of operation;
  • low susceptibility to abrasion.

A semi-woolen fabric differs from ordinary wool by the introduction of special synthetic fibers. Practice has shown that with due observance of the technology, this will not cause any additional problems. A frequent addition is lavsan, which accounts for 30 to 60% by weight. To make the fabric shine more, viscose or nylon threads are mixed into it.

Half-woolen fabric is even more resistant to crushing than plain wool, it is not prone to shrinkage, and the care of such fabric is very simple.

Hundreds of types of costume fabrics belong to the worsted category. Boston is in demand among them. This is a purely woolen product produced according to the twill weaving pattern. A characteristic feature of the Boston suit is its special warmth. However, this comfortable fabric will gradually shine at the folds.

Cheviot is also a half-woolen fabric. When creating it, use viscose or cotton threads. The price of such a fabric is relatively low, but it looks good, which makes it an excellent choice for school suits.

Crepe is appreciated by seamstresses (since it lends itself easily to a wide variety of cuts and sewing, but at the same time it is dense). The crepe suit will stretch well and will not hinder movement.

Gabardine for suits is made both from pure wool and with the addition of a small amount of synthetics. Small scars are typical for gabardine. This is an almost all-season material that is resistant to moisture and does not require complex maintenance.

Fine fabrics are also a good choice.

Tweed helps to perfectly maintain the style of the English classic costume. This fabric has a slightly pronounced soft pile on the front side. Tweed is extremely durable. The traditional tweed jacket is fastened with 3 buttons and is complemented by genuine leather elbow pads. Even elite fashion houses willingly produce such clothes.

Classic broadcloth is a pure or blended woolen fabric produced by the plain weave method. The cloth is characterized by a dense pile. It completely covers the threads.

High-quality cloth wears out little and serves for a very long time. Its thermal properties are good enough for sewing jackets in any region of our country.

Cashmere, which is valued for:

  • no pellets even with active use;
  • air structure;
  • lightness (very useful for many hours of activities);
  • high strength (no worse than that of good-quality wool or first-class silk);
  • excellent ecological and sanitary qualities.

Pure cotton fabrics in modern suits are rare. They are not strong enough and have a low level of elasticity. The introduction of synthetic fibers helps to compensate for these problems and the high susceptibility to wear. A typical solution is to weave the fibers in a twill or plain standard.

Occasionally, denim-type cotton fabrics are used, but the pile varieties are much better suited for creating a solemn mood.

Velvet is often used on men's jackets. It is dense but relatively soft. Another important feature is the dense, and at the same time, low pile. Corduroy is valued for its strength and low susceptibility to contamination; you can also use a hydrophobic carpet coat, linen-based blends or an ultra-modern memory fabric.

Summing up, it is worth pointing out that the choice of materials is very large, and everyone will find exactly what they need.

Color palette

The dyeing is just as important as the fabric used. White and other light-colored suits are appropriate for proms held in the summer. It's not only about good heat dissipation, but also about visual quality, a positive attitude. However, it is quite easy to stain white matter. The solution will be to use trousers and a jacket in beige tones or dyed in ivory.

A gray (more precisely, light gray) suit also fully meets modern aesthetic needs. It is also a kind of classic that will never go out of style. Gray is appropriate in all seasons, regardless of the weather. But it needs a bright and expressive contrast.

Otherwise, such a tone loses its respectability and will form only an expressionless faded composition.

Great care should be taken when using pink suits. They can look frivolous or even frankly ambiguous, destroy the solidity of the male image. We need a selection of objects that smooth out such an impression. The burgundy version of clothing is immediately perceived as unusual and original. For prom, they usually choose classic burgundy sets. Ideally, they highlight the dignity of the figure. The shoulders should be exactly in their usual place.

The black suit is the quintessential classic. It is not necessary to use strictly one shade. You can apply more or less saturated varieties of black in different parts of the clothing.

It is useful to complement such an image with bright spots of accessories.

Blue can be as good as the established black color if used wisely. Choosing a fitted jacket is encouraged. It must be remembered that it is extremely difficult to choose blue clothes exactly in size, and there may well be small deviations.

Experts believe that the fabric should have a smooth surface. In extreme cases, the use of discreet ornaments is allowed.

Plaid prom suits can have a wide variety of meanings. In one case, this is a reference to English conservatism. In the other, the spirit of light and easy modern style is reproduced. Even the most impressive trio can be checkered, which dilutes its inherent semi-official pomp. It is very good if the basis is based on a thoroughly twisted worsted fabric.

Nuances of choice

Even for a 7-year-old boy who is attending a prom for the first time, it is imperative to choose a truly classic costume concept without discounts on the usual jeans. Let them get used to it, then for a teenager at a gala event or for an 11th grade graduate it will become a habit, and it will be easy and natural to use such a set of clothes. However, in any case, it is necessary to focus on convenience, so that such a solemn wardrobe is not subconsciously associated with some kind of discomfort. For a young man, the same motives and design solutions are suitable as for younger children, but with one exception: everything should look stricter.

The classic suit format is definitely preferable for those who have little representation of modern fashion and simply would like to look decent without unnecessary searches.

Of course, both for a children's evening at school and for a young man who graduates from it, a decent appearance in itself is very important. Too tight fit of a suit or hanging by a bag, not long enough or too elongated sleeves and trousers will definitely be a minus. When choosing a color, one must take into account whether it makes it look fat or not. We must not forget about the compatibility of different tones and about the inexorable rule: you can stand out only with color or pattern, but not in both ways at once.

Three-piece suits are chosen less often. They are pretty good, but they can create an unnecessary formality effect. This is offset by the flexibility of use, however, as you can take off your jackets and only wear vests if it gets too hot. The emphasis on accessories or shoes will help to make the image more direct.

Another powerful fashion look is the double-breasted blazer, which is especially good for skinny guys.

There are a number of other recommendations:

  • if possible, buy suits from large manufacturers, in shopping centers or on the Internet;
  • to sew clothes for non-standard figures to order;
  • take into account reviews;
  • do not try to buy products that are too cheap;
  • pay attention to the standards adopted in the educational institution;
  • look for a balance between fashion trends and what you like;
  • choose a more casual look for the 9th grade, and a more strict look for the 11th grade;
  • exclude variegation in clothes;
  • refuse to use translucent fabrics.

How to complement the image?

It is hardly reasonable to limit ourselves to the selection of clothes alone. You also need to pay attention to what else you can wear. In a traditional look, Oxfords and Derby shoes are the most appropriate shoes. A more stylish option is to use loafers.

In any case, it is undesirable to use shoes that are too bright colors.

The socks should be the same color as the shoes or boots. Shoes are matched exactly to the size. As additional decorations are often used:

  • neckerchiefs;
  • leather laces;
  • bracelets;
  • graceful narrow-brimmed hats;
  • ties;
  • original belts.

For other garments, a white shirt may be used. Along with such a win-win versatile addition, shirts with individually selected unobtrusive ornaments are often used. It is necessary to refuse a tie only with complete confidence in the chosen option and aesthetics.

Those who want to give themselves the appearance of a respectable person should use watches and cufflinks along with a classic suit. In all other cases, this is unacceptable and even looks ridiculous.

Beautiful examples

There are quite a number of suitable options.

  • This photo convincingly shows that even a dark red suit can be worn at prom, if it is fitted correctly.
  • You can consider other options: among them there is a model with wide trousers, with a hat.
  • In early childhood, costumes in traditional dark colors can be used predominantly.
  • Alternatively, you can use lighter fresh solutions.
