For a modern woman, it is important not only to look good, but also to change in a timely manner, because an image, even a very suitable one, should not become boring to others. One of the easiest ways to radically change outwardly is to manipulate the hairstyle, but the modern chemical industry allows you to go beyond just changing the length, allowing any experiments with the color of the curls. At the same time, care should be taken with "chemistry", it must be of high quality, therefore you should not trust little-known firms. An example of reliability and quality is Wella's products.

About the manufacturer

In the world of cosmetics and perfumery, there are not many brands that can compete with Wella in anything, be it popularity, fame or sales volume. The fact is that the company traces its history back to 1880, that is, its specialists have been searching for ideal formulas of beauty and attractiveness for almost a century and a half.

Considering that this manufacturer has German roots, it can be argued: great efforts and efforts have been made to create the ideal recipes, which is evident at least from the durability of the brand.

It began, however, not at all with hair dyes: although the company was founded by a hairdresser, at first he was engaged in the production of wigs. As is often the case with young companies, their breakthrough is provided by some special discovery - in this case, the wigs, which allow the scalp to breathe, became such. At first, the brand was not even called by its current name, which it acquired only in 1924, but up to that moment it had managed to unwind and gain "muscles" quite well. With the name change, it became clear that wigs were gradually losing popularity - then the company switched to the production of perm and related equipment, which quickly became popular in beauty salons.

After World War II, it turned out that the main facilities of Wella remained on the territory of East Germany, where communism was introduced, so any enterprises were nationalized. The story of the brand could have ended there, but the owners had the means to continue the business, moving to the western part of the country.

An indicator of how successful things were, was the fact that, ten years later, stars like Elizabeth Taylor were filmed in advertising for the brand. Since 1950, a line of tinting hair colors "Koleston" has been launched, which is still successful today.

Today, the Wella brand can boast of impressive recognition around the world, as its products are sold in 150 countries - that is, almost everywhere.

Recently, the famous brand has been part of even larger multinational corporations. So, in 2003, the controlling stake was bought by the giant Procter & Gamble, which does not need any special introduction. In 2015, the brand's ownership changes again and it becomes part of Coty, a not-so-promoted corporation, which, however, also owns Unilever.

Advantages and disadvantages

In addition to the brand in question, there are other companies producing hair dyes, which indicates certain disadvantages of Wella, although it is the latter that is rightly considered the leader, and this is already a hint of the pros. In experiments with your own appearance, it is important to correctly evaluate in advance all the pros and cons, therefore we will try to figure out what is good and why the company's products are bad. Let's start with the good:

  • Wella paints are of very high quality, they suggest a professional result even when dyeing at home and even without the slightest experience in dyeing hair;
  • all shades are distinguished by high saturation, while, unlike cheap analogs, the color lasts for a long time, and "accidentally" washing it off simply will not work;
  • hair dyes are often criticized for allegedly spoiling the curls, but Wella products have the opposite effect, because they contain special lipids that provide nourishment to the hair, making it smooth and healthy;
  • in packages of the “Koleston” series, in addition to the paint itself, you can also find special color enhancers that allow you to restore the brightness of the original tone 15 and 30 days after the initial staining, so you can keep your favorite image longer;
  • the German manufacturer offers consumers a wide palette of shades to choose from, thanks to which you can both simply change the hair color to another from the list of those familiar to society, and radically stand out with a completely atypical color;
  • ammonia-free dye takes good care of hair in any condition and provides uniform dyeing, so that the brand's products are relevant not only for a simple color change, but also for dyeing gray hair - no one will ever guess that the color can be unnatural;
  • many women go to a professional to dye their hair to be sure of the result, but Wella provides each package with the most detailed instructions, thanks to which you yourself will become a real professional without leaving your home;
  • the company's products are produced in the form of cream paint, therefore it is convenient to apply it to the hair, without fear of staining clothes or skin.

    There are also disadvantages to using branded products, although there are much fewer of them.The first thing that scares off some potential buyers is the rather high cost, but the pricing policy of the company can be understood: after all, it spends a lot of money on research and the purchase of the highest quality raw materials for the production of paints. Another problem is that with all the abundance of the assortment produced, not every cosmetic department, especially in small towns, can offer a good assortment of Wella paints.

    However, the last problem is solved quite easily: today you can purchase the desired product using the Internet with delivery to any part of the world.

    Professional remedies

    One of the strengths of Wella products, which made the brand famous, was the focus on professional products - one that even professional stylists would not pass by. Today the company presents its products as those that can be used by anyone at home, but certain premium lines, which are massively used in expensive beauty salons, have not gone anywhere.

    "Koleston"

    This line is one of the most recognizable, because it was with it that the production of hair dyes once began. Over time, the range of products has changed several times, and today a palette of natural and bright shades is considered optimal for two-tone coloring. The composition of the paint contains exclusively natural components, therefore this "chemistry" does not give a drying effect and leaves the hair soft and silky. Thanks to the beeswax in the composition, the hair structure is restored, and the color, according to the assurances of the creators, will last up to a month.

    "Color Touch"

    A feature of this series is not only the abundance of various shades, but also the fact that each of them, in addition to the brightness and saturation of the tone, is distinguished by a clearly visible shine. The balanced composition of such a paint is specially designed to not only mask possible hair imperfections, but also to eliminate them, because the paint contains nutrients and moisturizers.

    The palette of this line is impressive - there are 6 shade scales at once, but Color Touch is not suitable for painting large volumes of gray hair - the penetration of pigments into the cuticles is not deep.

    But in general, dyed hair can withstand up to 20 head washes without losing the characteristic three-dimensionality of the color.

    Illumina

    The technology by which the paints of this line are created is worthy of the future - they contain special components that can illuminate the copper particles originally present in healthy hair. Thanks to this, an enhanced shine of the hair is achieved - an increase in the indicator is expected at the level of at least one and a half times.

    At the same time, unlike the two above-described series, it still contains a certain amount of harmful ammonia, but useful components generally neutralize its effect. The assortment of 20 shades is not so large, but stylists claim that it is suitable for working with damaged hair of any type, and you can also mask any amount of gray hair with such paint.

    "Professionals Perfect"

    Although Wella positions its paints as easy to use at home, this line can be considered an exception - not even every artist is advised to use it. The fact is that it is intended for lightening hair, therefore even small mistakes in the dyeing process are unacceptable - you can ruin your hair.

    You can dye your hairstyle in a natural shade or pre-painted in a different tone, the arsenal of products from the line is represented by both creams and powders and powders for lightening. Due to the width of the assortment, you can achieve almost any blonde shade, however, before staining, you should make tests for individual intolerance to the components of the product.

    Home paints

    Theoretically, you can use almost any paint from Wella at home, but there are also series that are not intended for use in expensive beauty salons at all. As a rule, such funds are somewhat cheaper - the effect of their use may not be as impressive, but on the other hand, there are no potentially harmful components in their composition, and the process of changing the color itself is reduced to extremely simple manipulations.

    A striking example of such a line is the modern "Wellaton", by which most women usually judge all Wella products. Means from this series are available both in the form of cream paint and in the form of mousse, the latter being considered more convenient, since such a product is completely ready to use and it only remains to apply it to the hair.

    The tint palette includes toning paints with ammonia and lightening options without being too damaging.

    Any of the colors in the series are well suited for gray hair, providing a rejuvenating visual effect for women of all ages.

    A significant part of the composition of such dyes is represented by various reflective components, due to which the hair appears to be more shiny. Their inclusion in the composition is due not only to the desire to add shine: by reflecting ultraviolet rays, these ingredients allow the hair to remain soft and silky.

    A bonus for every Wellaton home-use package is a revitalizing serum, which becomes relevant two and four weeks after the first staining. Actually, there is no paint in such an additive, but it activates the remains of paint on the hair, makes them brighter and more resistant, due to which re-coloring can be postponed until a later date. After treatment with such a serum, the paint, which has already begun to wash out, acquires a second youth and again seems fresh.

    Color palette

    Wella products in general are characterized by a huge variety of tones and shades, but the choice sometimes turns out to be somewhat limited by the scope of a particular series, which you may have chosen for specific specific qualities. Moreover, the manufacturer himself, for convenience, divides large palettes into logical groups of colors, but each line may have a specific classification.

    Common shades such as popular shells, pearls or dark chocolate are found in most series, but highly specific shades may need to be looked for across all collections.

    The “Koleston” series has one of the richest palettes, therefore it is logical to consider a possible classification of available shades using this example.

    • Pure and natural shades - these are the colors that nature could have bestowed on your head from birth, but did not. Thanks to such paint, new acquaintances will not immediately guess that this color is not your real one, and this is already a huge plus for rejuvenation.
    • Natural shades of increased saturation are generally very similar to the previous category, but they were deliberately made a little brighter than is usually the case in nature. With such a hairstyle, you will definitely attract attention, but you risk revealing your secret to others.
    • Underlined chestnut and black shades highlighted in a separate segment. The manufacturer himself describes them as a means of creating a mysterious image, not devoid of style.
    • Bright red palette will definitely appeal to those who are used to attracting attention to themselves and do not imagine their stay in society, if those around them do not show much interest in his person. For creating a bright and unique look, this is one of the best options.
    • Blond Series surprises with an unusually wide range of options - many people do not even think about how broad this concept can be. For example, light shades can be both warm and cold, with soft transitions or in a light haze, in pastels or bright.
    • Mix tones - a rather unusual move from the brand's developers, which involves the introduction of a different tone overflow into the main shade. This solution once again emphasizes the depth of the main color, and also allows you to make the image truly unique.
    • "Special Mix" - an excellent option for modern people, for whom even those shades that just a couple of decades ago seemed outrageously defiant to everyone seem too boring. In this line of shades, you can find absolutely any tones - even those in which you would never have thought to paint if you had not seen them with your own eyes.

    Recommendations for self-staining

    All packages of hair dye from Wella are necessarily equipped with instructions for use, which must be followed in strict accordance with the described instructions. Although most drugs are recognized as hypoallergenic, in some people an allergy to a certain component is still possible, therefore it is worth conducting preliminary tests. To do this, it is not necessary to go to the doctor - it is enough to apply a small amount of the substance behind the ear and repeat the procedure twice after drying.

    If no problems have arisen in two days, then you can use the paint fully, and, on the contrary, itching and peeling are obvious stop signals.

    Otherwise, the rules for dyeing hair are about the same for all dyes (unless the instructions say otherwise).

    • Dyeing dirty hair is desirable - so the risk of destruction of their structure will be lower. If you completely trust the manufacturer and consider the paint safe, then you can try applying it to a clean head - in this case, the shade will be brighter.
    • It makes sense to protect clothing and skin of the hairless part from paint. For this, polyethylene or any other oilcloth is usually used, and in the immediate vicinity of the edge of the hairy part, a contour is drawn with a special wax or cream on a greasy basis so that the skin does not stain. Please note that the "contour" should not touch the hair, otherwise they will not stain too.
    • Mixed paint under the influence of air can lose its original properties, and then it will be rather difficult to predict the final shade. To prevent this from happening, be sure to mix all the ingredients strictly before applying to your hair.
    • When working with paint, gloves should be on your hands at all times, otherwise your image will seem too strange to many.
    • Although hair can be dyed and unwashed, be sure to comb it carefully before the procedure. When all the strands are straightened and neat, you can hope to evenly paint over all of their mass. If they are not combed first, the surface inside the tangled balls will retain its natural color.
    • Compliance with the instructions is important for all points, but an absolutely fundamental requirement for a normal result is the observance of the time specified in the instructions. Determining the term by eye is unacceptable if hair health is important to you. If you hurry too much, you risk staining them unevenly, and in some places the natural color will be noticeable. Reinsuring and overexposing the paint, you run the risk of over-drying your hair, which will cause it to become brittle and weak.

    Reviews

    If you have never used Wella paints before, it is tempting to ask the opinion of other consumers who already have experience with such cosmetics before buying expensive products. In many ways, this impulse is correct, just never judge a product by a single review - remember that every person has a subjective opinion, and it is better to base your own point of view on your own impressions, and not on the words of others.

    Since the Wella brand is well promoted, it is not difficult to find real reviews about it.At the same time, it should be noted that the range of products of this brand is not without reason so extensive - the paints are not duplicated anywhere, even if they seem very similar. For this reason, experienced craftsmen do not advise drawing a conclusion about the company by one staining, even if this is your personal experience - perhaps you just made the wrong choice for the first time.

    For example, some of the company's dyes barely cope with even a small amount of gray hair, while others are so eaten in that even the original hair color may change slightly after using them. Accordingly, if you liked the experience of using the product and you want to repeat it, choose not just paint of the same shade, but always of the same series.

    A definite disadvantage of most brand paints is not only their high cost, but also a significant consumption of substances for uniform and reliable, persistent staining. The manufacturer himself advises not to save the amount of the agent used, otherwise the resulting shade may turn out to be uneven, Internet users also point out that in relatively inexpensive samples, the first signs of flushing can appear after three washes.

    Each package must be supplied with detailed instructions, and different series have different properties, and therefore the dyeing technology may differ slightly. For this reason, it is unacceptable to use instructions from a paint of a different series, because the result is most likely not what was expected. On specialized forums, you can often find complaints that the shade does not match or the acquired color turned out to be short-lived, but the reason for such a "marriage" is most often the wrong staining procedure.

    By the way, everything written in the instructions should be followed with maximum accuracy - for example, the specified time cannot be arbitrarily changed in any direction.

    Each series has its own advantages and disadvantages, but also praise Wella's products in general. Almost no one is left indifferent by the richest palette of shades. Many also really like the manufacturer's approach in terms of completing the kits - in some series, not only the paint itself is supplied in the box, but also, for example, mixing containers, gloves and brushes. By the way, such bonuses are usually not accompanied by professional goods - it is assumed that a professional should have all this reusable for regular multiple use.

    It is also highly appreciated that Wella products can be matched to any hair. The predominant part of paints does not contain ammonia, therefore it is considered sparing, but for some especially bright colors, its presence is simply necessary. At the same time, all brand products include useful and nutritious components in their composition, thanks to which the hair not only looks healthier, but in fact it is.
