Sports shoes

Depending on the sports, sports sneakers are divided into:

  • Cross-country. Due to the fact that a concussion occurs during running, and the main load falls on the feet, joints and spine, the sole on running shoes should be softly springy. The toe should be flexible and the heel fairly stiff. The height is small, the pair itself should be light. For jogging in the gym or on a flat track, you need to choose sneakers with a thin, slightly grooved sole, and for training on rough terrain, you need a sole with deep grooves for better traction.
  • Basketball. Here, a reliable fixation of the ankle with an inflated lacing is important to reduce the risk of injury to players during rapid game movements. The shoe itself is tall and quite heavy, and the outsole is wide, thick and stiff with good air cushioning in the heel and toe area. The herringbone tread pattern is ideal for the wooden covering of the hall.
  • Volleyball. Lighter than basketball, but quite stiff and stable with reinforced sidewalls. High-quality foot cushioning is required. The sole pattern is ideal for indoor parquetry - small strokes or herringbone. Intense movement during training means increased sweating, so it is best to choose a pair of sneakers with a mesh upper.
  • Football. These sneakers are also called boots, their main difference is the presence of spikes on the sole. They are divided into several types depending on the coverage of the football field (indoor, natural, synthetic, gravel, and so on). Studs maximize traction and minimize possible rotation of the foot. The lateral movement of some lacing patterns can contribute to better ball control. The soccer shoe is quite low and has special curved stripes to prevent the ball from slipping.
  • Tennis. This type of sneaker requires good lateral support and a firm foot. They are of medium weight with ankle height. The sole should be shock-absorbing, stable, fairly tight, but well flexed in the forefoot. In the same place, on the nose, there is a protection against blows of fingers made of a special rubberized material. It is preferable to choose the pattern of the sole with strokes or zigzags. Lacing provides a snug fit of the sneaker.
  • For cycling. The main difference from standard sneakers is the presence of contact spikes for bicycle pedals. There is also a rigid fixation of the foot and a solid heel counter. The weight of such products is minimal. Shoelaces are generally not used due to the risk of them being caught in the chain. For a tighter fit of the foot, a rather narrow cut is used, and Velcro is also found. The outsole is strong and tough, as the cyclist does not need to feel the pedal with his foot, because of this, blood circulation can be disrupted and the feet will freeze. For rainy weather, waterproof shoes with a high-quality membrane can be recommended.
  • For auto and motor sports. The upper part of these sneakers is usually made using a special fireproof material. The outsole is thin, with minimal profiling to provide better grip and pedal feel. On the heel there is additional support for a tighter fixation of the foot. Racing shoes most often have specific lacing methods to ensure maximum safety and comfort during the ride.
  • For fitness or aerobics. These sneakers are almost always understated and light, they have a thin and flexible sole with a small herringbone pattern. It is not often cold in the hall, so a mesh or perforated surface will not be superfluous. In a fitness or aerobics shoe, you need to have a good enough ankle support. White sneakers look quite attractive for such workouts.
  • Dance. Ankle height will reduce the risk of an ankle sprain. Reliable fixation of the foot with lacing will not allow the leg to "dangle" during jumps and rotations. To provide better flexibility, the outsole usually consists of two completely separated parts, and the toe is more often combed. Dance sneakers are more common in black.
  • For weightlifting. These sneakers are quite low, with a dense and very stiff, slightly ribbed sole due to the fact that in this sport, an unimaginable weight falls on the foot. A small heel will help the athlete not to fall back. A secure fit of the foot with elastic laces is also essential for weightlifters.
  • For skateboarding (skater). Skate shoes are constantly in contact with the abrasive surface of the board, so they must be made of extra strong materials. Also, they must be well ventilated, for this, a "breathable" material or perforation is used. Cushioning is provided by the integration of special instep supports and stabilizers into the sole and insole. The tongue of the skateboarding shoe is soft and puffy, while the laces are thick and wide.
  • For tracing (parkour). They look like running shoes, have high-quality cushioning on the heel and forefoot, a thick, springy rubber sole and a resilient rigid heel counter. Small rubber spikes may be present in the tread pattern, they will make it possible to stay on inclined and steep surfaces. The upper material is quite durable, the mesh is undesirable, since it breaks easily from clinging to all kinds of objects that are encountered on the path of the extreme.
  • Tourist. Sneakers for active tourism must have increased durability.Water and dirt repellent properties will be a big plus. The pair, designed for walking on rough terrain, has good ankle support and special cushioning inserts. The outsole is strong and durable, ideally with a rubber patch on the forefoot. It is better to choose a lacing rather high, clasping the ankle.
  • For water sports. The so-called sneaker features a glued-in nylon or neoprene toe cap for extra insulation and comfort. The top of such products is sewn from a breathable quick-drying mesh, often treated with antibacterial impregnation. Drainage sole provides good ventilation and reliable drainage of water.
  • For physical education. For general physical training, you can choose universal low-rise sneakers with a rather stiff rubberized round sole, containing air voids in the heel for better cushioning. The sole relief may not be too deep. The upper needs to breathe, mesh material is ideal for good ventilation.

Brand Models

Stylish sports sneakers are suitable for almost any modern image, so they are loved and appreciated not only by athletes, but also by people who are very far from sports. I would like to highlight several of the most popular manufacturers of sports sneakers, putting on the products of which you can feel more confident, attractive and fit.

Nike brand For more than half a century, it has been producing sports shoes, which have long been recognized by many sports professionals and other fans of an active and healthy lifestyle. Originally, Nike running shoes were made for runners, tennis players and basketball players. Today, models are also produced for football players, volleyball players, golfers and other athletes.

Adidas, founded almost a century ago, covers about 20% of the total athletic footwear market, slightly less than Nike. The first Adidas football boots with interchangeable spikes made a splash among the big names in soccer. Adidas makes excellent orthopedic running shoes for professional athletes as well as practical everyday shoes.

Reebok Is an even older company that originally focused on running shoes. In the future, the company actively developed a production line of sneakers for fitness and athletics. Today, Reebok is the broadest range of athletic shoes from classic to ultra-modern.

Puma - a large brand, the main focus of which is the creation of sports shoes, in particular, sneakers. The lightweight, snug fit football, running and fitness shoe is the perfect blend of sporting content and a sense of style.

Asics Corporation Is the largest Japanese manufacturer of quality sports shoes. Thanks to the original and stylish design, Asics sports sneakers are rightfully a worthy competitor to other famous sneaker brands.

Sports New Balance sneakers famous for their bright colors and textured materials. The outsole is filled with rubber foam for better cushioning. These sneakers are great not only for constant training, but also for use in everyday life. They are comfortable, practical and quite functional.

Tourism lovers and travelers alike are familiar with well-known brands such as Merrell and Columbia. Sports sneakers from these companies have a lot of advantages, among them: high-quality insulation, wear-resistant materials, protective linings, a moisture-repellent coating, a non-slip sole, a special tread pattern for better grip, comfortable antibacterial insoles.

How to choose?

Depending on the purpose, sports shoes should be selected with regard to their functionality and safety. The wrong choice of sneakers can cause serious health problems - from allergies, corns and calluses to injuries, flat feet, joint pain and varicose veins.

A visual inspection of the quality of the seams, the absence of traces of glue and an unpleasant odor is what you should start with when choosing the right pair. It's good if the upper is breathable. The insoles should be easy to remove and absorbent. The presence of an instep support (soft roller) on them can prevent flat feet. The laces should not come loose by themselves, and the Velcro should not come loose.

When trying on, make sure that your thumb is not "close to" the toe of the sneaker. It is better to try on in the evening, when the legs reach their maximum volume.

How to wash?

Athletic shoes will last longer if cared for properly. Dust off them after training. Dirt can be washed off with a sponge soaked in soapy water, or treated with a specially designed shampoo. You can clean the sole with a toothbrush and toothpaste or baking soda. It is better not to machine wash sports shoes in the washing machine, as there is a risk of damage to them.

It is better to dry the steam away from heating devices to avoid cracking. A hairdryer is also not worth using. You can stuff the inside of your sneakers with soft light-colored paper (newspaper can stain the inner surface). After drying, sports shoes should be sprayed with a special water and dirt protection spray, especially if you plan to use them outdoors.
