With all the abundance of promising materials, natural wood continues to play a very important role. It is also used in kitchens, but in its pure form, such a solution is prohibitively expensive. Therefore, an alternative appeared - a wood-like kitchen in a modern style.

Features and nuances

Finding headsets that are completely made of wood is quite difficult. Many manufacturers simply do not produce such furniture. However, imitation of solid wood with veneer (thin wooden blocks) turns out to be much more practical. A quality product will not warp over time. If this does occur, it can be assumed that the material was not dried correctly. In order for the furniture to last longer, you must adhere to the following requirements:

  • maintain a certain temperature;
  • exclude an increase in humidity;
  • keep the kitchen clean.

Often in kitchens, wood is used for cladding not only the floor, but also the walls, and even the ceiling. This allows the chosen style to be maintained 100%. If you have certain skills, you can make a wood-like kitchen with your own hands.

For this, lining is used. Boards must be taken even, without the slightest defects.

Long-term preservation of a pleasant appearance is possible thanks to covering the boards with 2 or 3 layers of alkyd-urethane varnish. And in order for the varnish or other paint itself to lay down well, you will have to thoroughly sand the material. After that, you can take up the formation of the frame. The slats in the lattice are placed with a step of 0.6 m. They must be mounted using a square, a level and a plumb line.

Material selection

But in the overwhelming majority of cases, wood-like kitchens are still ordered from professionals. Cherry, oak and beech veneers are the preferred choices. Kitchen sets with pine veneer are a little cheaper. Despite the savings, it looks very good.

Over time, the wood will not fade, but only become more elegant and beautiful.

Oak veneer is beautiful. A ring pattern is clearly visible on its brownish surface. Light gold pine has a more complex pattern than oak. In addition, it better corresponds to the canons of the Russian national color. Choosing a Karelian birch, there is no doubt that the premises will inspire thoughts about the elite level of the premises and material well-being. But even better in a modern style, a kitchen with walnut or zebrano veneer will do.

When the walls are covered with patterned wallpaper, it is advisable to choose a veneer with a monochromatic structure. But when using one-color wallpaper, you need to choose a more complex pattern. To save space and make full use of it, it is advised to use angular schemes. Natural wood can be processed with various coatings - completely or partially transparent or completely blocking out light.

A transparent layer is applied if it is very important to preserve the natural appearance of the wood and reveal its texture.

For opaque coatings, enamel works best. They choose a color purely at their discretion. Although the tonality changes, the relief structure will be preserved. Neutral, not too flashy colors prevail. It is not recommended to choose kitchens with an abundance of decorative details - they complicate maintenance.

How else can you simulate a tree?

Not all people are happy with the use of veneer. Moreover, there are even more affordable materials that allow you to achieve exactly the same result.

  • The cheapest chipboard headsets. This material tolerates contact with moisture well and can have a variety of coatings. But we must remember that the fastenings of chipboards are unreliable, and it is difficult to repair them after a breakdown. You will have to carefully check which plates are used by manufacturers in a particular case. Not all varieties are equally resistant to moisture and water vapor.
  • A more modern and attractive option is MDF. These are environmentally friendly designs that look attractive. However, it should be borne in mind that MDF is more expensive than chipboard, and moisture-resistant boards come only from abroad.

Modern interior design: additional ideas

Very good results are obtained by using wood-like tiles in the interior of a modern kitchen. It reproduces the ornament and pattern of various wood flooring. A sample can be not only a board, but also parquet and laminate. It is not necessary to choose the classic rectangular tiles. Many examples are more likely to reproduce parquet or solid plank in shape.

NSome tile options allow you to highlight the apron. Stretch ceilings can be beige or brown. Stylish curtains are often used to complement the woody composition. In a minimalistic interior, Roman and roller blinds give very good results. Wood-like kitchens in a modern style are usually decorated with matte or glossy monochromatic surfaces.

Walls painted in beige, white and milky colors help to complement such furniture.

If you use wooden furniture in dark colors, it is advisable to complement it with stone countertops. In this case, the floor and ceiling are made noticeably lighter than the headset. Dilution of a monotonous composition is possible through the use of contrasting ceiling beams. Eating too many pieces of furniture is not recommended. Potted plants help to revive the interior.
