All swimwear can be divided into closed and open. Closed ones are usually a one-piece version, in which the panties and bodice are interconnected. Open types assume the two components are separate.

Indoor swimsuits include:

  • A maillot-type swimsuit can be called a universal model, since it can be worn by a girl with any figure. A characteristic feature of this type is the presence of sewn straps. Some mayo models also have special figure-correcting inserts on the sides.
  • The plunge swimsuit has a provocative deep cut in the neckline, as well as an impressive open area on the back. In such a swimsuit, the chest seems larger, and the neck is longer.
  • A distinctive feature of the closed bandeau swimsuits is the absence of shoulder straps. This achieves a balance between the hips and chest with shoulders.
  • The tank swimsuit, like the mayo model, has sewn-on straps, although this model has wider straps. Due to this, the swimsuit has excellent breast support. In addition, it has cups, which also helps to hold the breasts. This type of swimsuit slims your figure well.
  • One-piece halter swimsuit model differs from other closed models by the presence of straps that are tied around the neck.
  • The hi-neck model has a very small front cutout. These swimwear are great for sports.
  • The swimwear model is perhaps the most closed-off of all types of swimwear. Having a skirt will help hide imperfections in the hip area. It will also be convenient to go in for sports in such a swimsuit.
  • Monokini is a cross between a closed and open swimsuit. The two parts of the leotard are connected by a thin strip of fabric or some kind of decorative detail. Due to this, the figure in such a swimsuit is not particularly covered.

Open swimsuits are considered:

  • Bikinis are the most popular type of open-top swimsuit. Small panties and a bra with thin straps that tie around the neck - this is what a bikini looks like.
  • The tankini swimsuit consists of a top and panties. The upper part of the leotard is made like a closed tank. The bandeau model, in addition to the closed one, has an open version - panties and a strapless bodice. Halter is also found in both variants. An open model of a swim dress has either a skirt on the panties, or the upper part is visually similar to a dress.

How to choose the right one?

Having figured out the types of swimwear, you can go directly to the choice of a specific model. First you need to decide for what purposes this piece of clothing will be used.

If a swimsuit is bought for the pool, then it is better to choose closed types of swimwear. Due to activity during swimming or hydroaerobics in the pool, it is advisable to minimize the risk of exposure, so the body should be securely and well covered by a swimsuit. The same applies to outdoor activities at resorts: diving, surfing and other types of water activities.

For sunbathing, you should choose a swimsuit that is as open as the figure allows. The fabric of some modern swimwear allows you to sunbathe through it, so the degree of openness does not matter for these swimwear.

Speaking of fabric, you should pay attention to its quality. It should not fade in the sun, dry quickly and tolerate contact with salt water well. Therefore, you should not take inexpensive swimwear made of low-quality materials, so that during the summer season you do not have to splurge on this wardrobe item again.

Although some swimwear is only for decorative purposes and may not be made of stretch fabric. This applies, for example, to knitted swimwear. Such a swimsuit will take longer to dry, and in general it is desirable to have a replacement in the form of a swimsuit made of elastic fabric.

As for the color scheme, there are absolutely no restrictions. The variety of colors of swimwear is very wide today. However, it is worth remembering that abundant floral prints will visually make the figure look bigger. Therefore, girls with curvaceous forms should choose monochrome models in dark shades that are slim. Also, for girls of large sizes, a vertical strip that stretches the silhouette is suitable.

Choosing the type of figure

When thinking about which swimsuit is better to choose, you should pay attention to the type of figure.

For a figure with a narrow waist and balanced hips and chest, which is also called an "hourglass", there are usually no problems with choosing a swimsuit. It is worth considering only if there are any flaws on the body in the form of scars, age spots or stretch marks that must be hidden from prying eyes.

Girls with narrow shoulders in relation to the hips or a "triangle" figure should choose swimsuits with a tie around the neck. This technique will visually make the shoulders wider. If the upper part can be additionally loaded with a combination of colors and decorative elements, then the bottom of the swimsuit for such a figure should be calm. All of these will help balance your upper and lower body. Plunge or halter swimwear is a good option.

For a figure with a reverse situation - narrow hips and wide shoulders or an inverted triangle - the emphasis should be on the hips.

To do this, you need to select a swimsuit model with wide straps, like a tank swimsuit model.

Also, a swimsuit with a skirt will give additional volume to the hips; it can be either a closed or an open swimdress model. The bottom of the swimsuit in the form of shorts will help to weight the lower part of the figure.

For a figure with an implicit waistline or "rectangle" type, emphasis on this area will give the image a feminine look. This effect can be achieved both with the help of the correctly selected color scheme of the swimsuit, and with the decor on the belt in the form of a strap. And of course, the monokini model for decisive persons will help to visually highlight the bend of the waist.

For girls with small breasts, you should give preference to separate types of swimsuit with cups or voluminous decorative elements on the top of the model.

To hide the problematic area of the abdomen, you need to choose a closed-type swimsuit, perhaps even a model with a tightening effect.
