Modern residents of Russia have little idea of the features of oriental-style sofas. The question will even more confuse almost any person what types of such furniture are. But in reality there is nothing complicated here, anyone can figure it out and make the right choice.

Specific traits

For the first time, oriental-style sofas became popular in the settlements of European colonialists, where they adopted - willingly or unwillingly - a certain part of the way of life of the conquered peoples. A characteristic feature of the style is the accentuated chic and accentuated, even somewhat arrogant and pretentious luxury. But this does not mean that any luxurious notes are equally acceptable. Oriental style means extremely extravagant, striking the imagination and attracting with originality. This is the typical content of the Arabic branch of oriental design.

The setting is designed in such a way that you can rest and relax. Either one-color or bright colors are used, in no case they are mixed. Sometimes creating an optimal Arabian interior without bending in one direction or another does not work out on its own, you have to call the designers.

But if it is planned to imitate the life of the nomads of northern Africa, then there is no time for luxury. The more laconic, the more authentic this imitation comes out.

Varieties

It is easy to see, even on the basis of what has been said, that the concept of "oriental style of a sofa" is not uniform. Traditionally, Arab and Turkish furniture of this kind is low, since those peoples are not used to a high seating. She gives them obvious inconvenience and embarrassment. But the sofa will be wide and equipped with a high back. Corner options in the Arab world are also not highly rated - straight upholstered furniture is appreciated there.

The Japanese version of the oriental sofa also cannot stand out with its special height. It is emphatically minimalist and laconic, which corresponds to the spirit of the whole room. The back, if there is, is small. Wooden parts are not decorated in any way. It is not at all necessary to use very expensive materials, but synthetic parts should not be categorically. The Chinese sofa is the same as the Japanese one or slightly higher. Moreover, it is much more convenient for ordinary Europeans and Russians. Sleeping on it will be more comfortable. But the most conservative approach, fully reproducing the Chinese tradition, is the use of a wicker couch. Only bamboo is suitable for making it.

Color solutions

The “Arabian” sofa is traditionally made from dark woods. It is desirable that it be an array of exotic, expensive breeds. Imitation of the sheikhs cannot be cheap. On a Japanese sofa, the wooden parts are usually varnished. For upholstery, light fabric is most often taken. But the Chinese approach is a combination of red and black tones in different proportions to the taste of the owner, if only both colors are clearly distinguishable.

Selection Tips

When choosing an exotic sofa, you cannot limit yourself only to checking its authenticity. It is necessary to buy such goods only from trusted manufacturers and suppliers with a good reputation. It is imperative to require certificates of compliance with Russian standards and sanitary safety requirements. It should be borne in mind that any furniture "exotic" will harmoniously fit only into a room decorated in the same spirit.

Important: if the model, despite all the seemingly attractive characteristics, is imperceptibly disliked by something, you cannot force yourself - such a purchase will not bring joy.

Be sure to think about the following features:

  • durability;
  • ease of use of the sofa;
  • convenience;
  • matching the size of the furniture and the place where it is planned to be installed.

All oriental style sofas, no matter which branch they belong to, are made of solid wood. However, it is very important that this tree is properly dried. Checking the build quality is no less relevant. One loose or poorly executed attachment is enough to poison the life of the owner of the sofa. Convenience needs to be assessed in two ways: for everyday use and as a sleeping place.

In order not to confuse something with the size, you should not rely on your memory, even if it usually does not fail. It is better to take a sheet with dimensions to the store. Important: you will have to take into account the permissible level of load, depending on who will sit on the sofa or lie on it. The following points are unacceptable:

  • any extraneous sounds during transformation;
  • damage to the upholstery;
  • uneven color;
  • bad seams on the fabric;
  • models with a warranty less than 1.5 years.

Beautiful examples in the interior

Let's take a look at what a traditional Chinese-style sofa might look like. It has the following features:

  • rich red color of wood;
  • abundance of carving;
  • the front legs are of an unusual shape.

One glance at the Arabic sofa is enough to understand the visual differences. There are no legs as such here at all, but a gorgeous play of colors and shades is provided.

The next photo clearly shows the characteristic feature of the Japanese style - laconicism and severity. We can say severity - what else can make a wooden frame flaunt. Graceful pillows soften the impression a little.
