Often, for those girls who want to change their image, highlighting with classic colors is not enough. It is for such risky ladies that there is red highlighting.

Who is it for?

By itself, red highlighting is the same highlighting as the classic one. However, red is chosen as the color. All shades can be used: wine, cherry, burgundy, bright red and many others. It looks very natural, but at the same time very unusual. This highlighting is suitable for almost everyone, the main thing is to choose the right shade.

The most suitable hair color for this coloring is black or very dark.

It is worth taking a closer look at suitable hair colors for red highlighting.

  • The best option is considered brunettes. The color red creates a very interesting composition in combination with brown. The length and structure of such a head of hair can be absolutely any. In addition, by choosing the desired length and width of the streaked curls, you can perfectly emphasize the shape of the face, and make the hairstyle more prominent.
  • Red-haired and fair-haired girls this coloring is also suitable, especially if the most successful shade has been chosen. However, it is important to make sure that the general color direction is combined with red, otherwise it will all look very unnatural.
  • A very interesting image can be obtained when staining blonde curls... However, the situation here is a little more complicated than in previous cases, because in this situation it is best to use pastel colors, which can be obtained as a result of long mixing of the main dye with a transparent corrector. It is recommended to dye blonde hair in the style of balayazh or shatush, while adding separate bright strands.

Advantages and disadvantages

As with any other cosmetic procedure, highlighting also has its pros and cons. The advantages include the following:

  • the effect of paint on individual parts of the hair, and not on the entire head of hair as a whole;
  • painting over gray hair and other defects;
  • the ability to carry out this procedure yourself;
  • there are no age restrictions for highlighting;
  • the procedure outwardly increases the volume of the hair and gives it some shine;
  • if you get a bad result, you can easily fix it.

The disadvantages include the following:

  • in the case of tinting with henna or basma, such a procedure as highlighting is not done;
  • hair coloring with a perm is also contraindicated;
  • with brittleness and porosity, highlighting should not be carried out - first, the hair must be cured;
  • the duration of the procedure is at least 4 hours;
  • highlighted hair requires separate care.

How to choose a color?

Many people believe that the most difficult thing in this case is the choice of color. But if you really understand it, it's not that difficult. It is best to choose a shade based on the color type, there are only four of them.

  • Winter. This color type is distinguished by the darkness of the hair and eyes. It is for them that red highlighting is the best fit. For girls with dark skin and with a cold style of clothing, bright red or pink strands are suitable. Those girls who prefer deep and darker tones should choose a burgundy or dark red shade.
  • Spring. Girls belonging to this type have blonde hair and light eyes, and it is also worth noting the pallor of the skin. For spring, the most suitable shades are light red or light pink.
  • Summer. Summer is often confused with spring; nevertheless, summer girls have a darker hair color than spring ones. The shade should be as light and pastel as possible.
  • Autumn. It is very easy to recognize such a color type - these are bright hair and light eyes. The skin is usually as white as possible or slightly tanned. Often these girls have freckles. In this case, honey and fire shades would be an excellent option.

Staining technique

There are quite a few staining techniques, but it is worth highlighting such basic ones as:

  • classic - the paint is applied to the entire length of the strand, but the client chooses the width; a very unusual and sophisticated image is created when dyeing numerous thin strands;
  • Venetian - this option involves staining from the middle of the curl to the very ends; strands are chosen randomly, which creates a very interesting image;
  • American - in this case, several shades of red are used at once - dark and light;
  • zonal - when using this technique, they proceed from the fact that they want to emphasize by applying paint to individual areas;
  • avant-garde - just as in the previous case, only some areas are painted, using the brightest colors;
  • peek-a-boo - coloring of the lower part of the hair.

The first step is to mix the paint, it is best to use ingredients from one manufacturer. To reduce the damage to the hair, the paint is diluted with an oxygenating agent in a ratio of 1 to 1.5. If the hair has an increased density, then the oxidizing agent and the paint are diluted with each other in equal amounts. The oxidizing agent used should be no more than 3 percent, since a stronger concentration can severely harm hair. For a richer shade, you can use a booster. It is recommended that it be from the same manufacturer as the other drugs.

If we talk about the classical method, then it happens as follows:

  • all hair is removed, except for the layer that will be dyed in the first place;
  • further, thin strands are separated - their diameter should not exceed half a centimeter;
  • a sheet of foil must be placed under the separated part of the hair;
  • now you can safely apply paint along the entire length of the hair;
  • the foil is neatly wrapped, thus separating the colored strand from the rest;
  • the same actions should be carried out with the rest of the strands;
  • it is necessary to keep the paint strictly according to the instructions; usually it is no more than 40 minutes;
  • further, the hair should be washed with a special shampoo, and then apply a balm.

Important! The complexity of the procedure depends on the length of the hair.

When dyeing short hair, you must use a special highlighting cap. It is put on the head, then a certain number of strands are pulled out of the holes, which will be colored. As soon as the procedure is completed, the paint is washed off, and the cap itself is not removed. As soon as the flushing has been carried out, the cap can be safely removed. As mentioned earlier, red highlighting is not particularly difficult, so if you have some experience, you can do it yourself. However, it is better not to risk it and consult a specialist.

He will not only color your hair correctly, but also help you choose the right shade.

We must not forget about the preparation of hair before dyeing. First, you should carry out recovery procedures. It is enough to apply masks several times a week to strengthen hair. You can also resort to warm oil wraps that can remove porosity in the hair. When the hair has been dyed, a rinse must be done. A special cleansing shampoo is suitable for this.

Rinse off should be done at least 2-3 days before highlighting.

Care Tips

It is very important to monitor the condition of the hair immediately after such highlighting. Their quality depends on the dyes used, as well as on how carefully the work was carried out. If the staining was carried out by a professional, then there will be as little damage as possible. Nevertheless, even with this outcome, special hair care will be essential.

It is worth taking into account such basic rules for caring for highlighted hair, such as:

  • you only need to use a special shampoo for colored hair, the same applies to the balm; the water should be warm;
  • it will be useful from time to time to apply masks for hair growth and strengthening;
  • after washing, the curls should be rinsed with cool water;
  • when the strands have been discolored just before painting, you must wait until they dry completely before combing them;
  • experts recommend giving up the use of hair dryers, flat pans, irons and other electrical appliances;
  • it is very important to protect your hair from direct sunlight.

Despite the fact that the work is easy and has no special restrictions, there are such contraindications as:

  • in no case should highlighting be carried out if the hair was previously dyed with natural dyes - henna or basma;
  • the same applies to split ends - on such hair, highlighting will look as ugly as possible;
  • if the hair has porosity, the procedure should also be abandoned.

When highlights are unsuccessful, you can make some adjustments. You can use tinting paint, but without adding an activator. The appearance and quality of hair can be improved by special shampoos, conditioners, masks and other care products. Persistent paint is contraindicated when highlighting, since it lays down unevenly, and it also hurts the hair a lot.Red highlighting is not only a way to make your hair bright and effective, but also a great option in order to emphasize facial features or individual sections of the hairstyle.

You should not save on this matter, because if the staining is carried out incorrectly, you can severely spoil the hair, the treatment of which will take a lot of money.
