14th Irish Film Festival in Russia announced its program
A collection of the best Irish films of the year will be shown in Moscow and St. Petersburg
from 17 to 28 March within the framework of the KARO project. Art
The festival will be shown in Moscow (Oktyabr Cinema Center) and St. Petersburg (KARO 9 Warsaw Express). The films of the program will be dedicated to human relationships, mutual understanding and love - everything that helped to survive the difficult 2020. An extraordinary story of sincere friendship in a bright and kind fairy tale will be the first swallow of spring. The highly anticipated animated film "The Legend of the Wolves" from the Cartoon Saloon studio will open the festival on March 17 at 20:00. A staggering 100% viewer rating and 99% critical rating on the reputable Rotten Tomatoes website, 92nd line in the Top 250 best films on the Kinopoisk portal, a Golden Globe nomination are just some of the reasons to see a wonderful new cartoon on the big screen of the premiere hall cinema center "October".
Traditional Irish humor remains one of the most expressive features of the March show. Collection of Comedy Shorts will tell about the life of various characters: a bartender dreaming of happiness, an ambitious pilot assistant, a resident of a small town in Ireland, a call center operator, and even an algorithm! An important addition to feature films will be a topical documentary short film "How to fall in love during a pandemic", nominated for many awards. The documentary line will continue with an eccentric portrait of contemporary Irish artist Sean Hillen in film "Tomorrow is Saturday"... A road movie will tell about the touching and full of comedic collisions relationship between the millennial uncle and his younger nephew "Uncles are people too." The duo of Hollywood stars Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada") and Jamie Dornan ("50 Shades of Gray") can be seen in the comedy "Wild couple ", which critics of the publication Indie Wire noted for the freshness of the creative solution: "You cannot think of a greater caricature of Irish culture, even if it were written by elves and directed by a pint of Guinness." The spirit of rebellious growing up and Irish identity will be reflected in the closing film "Boys" starring Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Queen's Move).
Serious dramatic films also found their way into the program of the 14th Irish Film Festival. The deep traumas and complexities of family relationships will unfold in the tense atmosphere and superb visuals of the films "Out of the frying pan into the fire" and "Rose Plays Julie"... Fans of the series "Sex Education" will be delighted to see its main character, actress Emma McKay in a mysterious and dark film. "Cold Lake", which will tell you how difficult it is to keep terrible secrets, especially if they are not yours. Crime drama "Beyond the line of the law" Is the first feature-length film directed by Paddy Slattery to have over 10 years of successful short films and an IFTA nomination. By revealing the story of two brothers on opposite sides of the law, Paddy sheds light on the state of Irish society mired in silenced sins. Movie Enduring Armor will impress audiences in love with tough dramas in the spirit of "Peaky Blinders" and "Gangs of New York", where loyalty to the cause and family can cost rivers of blood.
The events of the 14th Irish Film Festival within IRISH WEEK 2021 will be supported by the Irish Embassy, Irish Film Institute, Screen Ireland, Heather Foundation, Irish club IRISH CLUB and Bushmills brand.
