Sonia Rykiel fashion house closes and ceases to exist
The Paris Commercial Court decided liquidate the world famous French fashion house Sonia Rykiel... Three years ago, the founder of the fashion house, fashion designer Sonia Rykiel passed away. And now the company has huge financial debts.
Representatives of the fashion house themselves went to court with a request to declare them bankrupt and protect them from creditors' claims in the legal field.
For the past three years after the death of the founder, all financial transactions of the fashionable French house were directed by Chinese investors. First Heritage Brands - financiers William and Victor Fun. And despite the huge infusion of funds into the Sony Rykiel fashion house, it was not possible to revive it.
The court looked for new owners, hoping that someone would take responsibility for the company and its financial debts, but they failed to find anyone who could take over the fashion house. And not because entrepreneurs do not want this, dozens of businessmen from all over the world have filed petitions, but the court rejected all of them, considering the candidates financially unreliable.
The fashion house owns a chain of six stores in Monaco and France. All of them will be closed, and 131 employees will be fired without providing a new job.
All remnants of clothing will be sold at bargain prices, and the brand itself is planned to be auctioned off.
Sonia Rykiel herself was born into a family of Jewish immigrants from Russia and Romania. The girl was born in Paris. She drew well and even before she came of age started working as a window dresser in textile stores.
Sonya chose the director of a textile store as her husband, and it was in this store that she was in 1962 presented its first own collection of the legendary wide sweaters. This thing quickly became a trend, especially the residents of the United States loved it.
And six years later, Sonya already had her own boutiques on the most fashionable Parisian streets.
