Fake will not work: experts told how to distinguish original things from fakes

Financial analysts are shocked - at the end of last year, sales of branded items in Russia grew by only 5%, while the shadow segment of the market selling counterfeit brands has doubled. The turnover of fake things that are passed off as real has reached 280 billion rubles.

It turned out that up to 40% of counterfeit goods in Russia are sold not just anywhere, but in the most official shopping centers with a good reputation. Another 30% of counterfeit items are sold in clothing markets, but at lower prices.

Among all the fakes, Russians most often buy counterfeit sneakers, jeans, T-shirts and bags.

On the one hand, the desire to buy fake things is understandable - everyone wants to live beautifully, but not everyone has money for real luxury things. And modern boutiques, although they position their assortment as luxury, have long been adjusting to the requirements of the buyer, and are ready to provide him with counterfeit, a fake for 5 hundred euros, because there will simply be no one to buy a real thing for 5 thousand euros.

Boutiques and monobrand salons are forced to combine the assortment, mixing fakes and luxury items.

At the same time, the appearance of things is almost impossible to distinguish.

To distinguish fake from real, experts recommend buy branded items in official stores... A luxury item is indicated by the full compliance of the barcode in the country with the country of manufacture.

The huge discounts of half or more of the original price of the goods, loved by Russians, are an indirect sign of their counterfeit. If in doubt, you must first find the thing you are interested in in the official store or on the manufacturer's website and check with the real price level. The discount cannot be more than the cost price.

Be sure to evaluate not only the brand name tag, but also the quality of the item or pair of shoes. When a fake is made, it saves on everything, including time and labor. As a result, the glue on the shoes looks spread, the seams are fragile or uneven, the tags may be crooked.

How a real thing or shoes should look, again, you can ask on the manufacturer's website.

In a store, boutique, shopping center, feel free to ask for a certificate or passport of the goods. If it is original, such a document must be there. But here, too, be prepared for deception - often counterfeit products are accompanied by fake certificates, so be careful.
