Fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier refused to use natural fur

At Paris Fashion Week, fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, from whom, as always, was expected beautiful fur solutions, for the first time presented a collection, during the manufacture of which not a single animal was harmed.

He refused to use natural fur and in the future, according to the designer, the fur will only be artificial.

The new collection is adorned with fur prints made from faux fur, complemented by rhinestones, feathers and even jewels.

When asked by journalists about why Gaultier made such a decision, the designer replied that he was getting old, becoming more sentimental, and the era of consumption, in which we all live, provides ample opportunities for creativity without the need to destroy living beings.

For the first time, the fashion designer spoke about the likelihood of abandoning natural fur six months ago, but then no one took his words seriously.

No one could have imagined that things from Gauthier, which have always been famous for their fur details, could lag behind without a distinctive symbol.

However, Gauthier's initiative was actively supported by environmental protection organizations. While Jean-Paul was preparing a "surprise" for the fans of the brand, the British brand Burberry and Donatella Versace announced the transition to faux fur.

It should be noted that for the fashion industry, up to 70 million animals. Most of the skins of the living creatures come to the catwalks not from fur farms, but from the wild.

One fur coat can take up to two dozen foxes, six dozen minks, up to 170 chinchillas or up to 400 squirrels.

Gaultier's decision, supported by conservationists, was not supported by fashionistas and fashionistas. They do not lose hope that the designer will change his mind and return natural furs to luxury clothes.

In the meantime, Gaultier is sure that artificial fur can also create optical illusions of a fur presence. For example, Jean-Paul added characteristic volumetric reliefs instead of down to down jackets, and replaced the fur trims of the coat with decoration with feathers and rhinestones.

The main thing is that things do not lose their warmth, says Gaultier, and this can be achieved without fur.

Fur, says Gaultier, is beautiful in itself. But he personally never liked women in furs. According to the designer, they look like the kept women of rich gentlemen. Yes, this is an outdated stereotype, but humanity will need many more decades to change this idea.

In the meantime, you can be content with artificial furs, realizing that by doing so we are saving the planet.
