The flip side of fashion: backs were shown in Paris
An unusual exhibition has opened in the French capital, which shows for the first time what viewers of fashion shows - backs.
Fashion designers rarely give due importance to the female back, and nevertheless it is a border area between the spiritual and the mundane. Everything above the back belongs to the spiritual world, and everything below to the earthly. A woman's back is one of the most vulnerable places, it is not for nothing that they say that secret affairs are done behind the back, while behind her they talk about a woman.
The shoulders, arms and neckline in women's fashion have been open for a long time, but the lady's back was preferred to the last one.
The exhibition collected incredible historical artifacts - the robes of queens, the length of which is more than ten meters. For women of a rank below, only three-meter robes were put on.
Richly decorated dresses in the front from the back were unprepossessing, it was not customary to decorate them. But on the back there could be some secret signs, for example, red diamonds on prisoners of war.
Modern fashion designers and clothing designers also prefer to use the back as a notice board - inscriptions on T-shirts, jackets, brand badges flaunt on it.
Particularly noteworthy are dresses under the throat with long sleeves, in which there was only one bare place - the back. In such secular ladies decided to appear only in the last century.
The idea was picked up. Christian Dior has created a whole collection of women flowers.
Designers created dresses with a large number of buttons on the back, as if trying to cover something that had been hidden from human eyes for centuries. So at the end of the last century, the legendary dress with 51 buttons by John Galliano appeared.
The desire of designers is understandable - a woman in such outfits is forced to be helpless, asking a man to button and unbutton his dress, and these moments are moments of intimacy and trust.
The woman's back is presented at the exhibition not only as a symbol of beauty and stature, but also as a place to carry loads. That is why Prada backpacks are presented. But wings can also grow on the back, and therefore a whole collection of "winged" dresses has been assembled here.
Fashion experts are confident that in the very near future, traditional views on women's backs will change, and fashion designers will help discover what is still hidden due to tradition.
