Male nannies are becoming fashionable in Russia

Labor market analysts noted an unusual trend that could have shocked quite recently - male nannies are in vogue. More and more often, young mothers who are going to go to work early are demanding from recruiting agencies to find them a childcare specialist with the obligatory requirement that the nanny must be a man.

Usually nannies are men of retirement or pre-retirement age. Many people use the “Grandmother for an Hour” service; there are almost a third of grandfathers out of all the offers. But experts say more is needed given the strong demand.

Most often, they want to get a man-nanny in a family where boys grow up, especially if they grow up without a father. But even in full families, "mustachioed nannies" are welcome, the fathers themselves, busy at work, are asking for a male nanny, because they believe that leaving children without a male upbringing is stupid and even criminal.

It is easier for men to carry a stroller, lift a child, even if the elevator breaks down and the way is to a high floor. Men are more self-possessed, they are happy to play with the child his favorite games - consoles, football, ride bicycles.

In addition, no woman nanny can so easily and naturally interact with two or three very mobile and active children at the same time.

Male nannies, psychologists say, perfectly discipline parents. Women-moms begin to feel more responsible, and fathers begin to show more paternal care, probably out of banal jealousy.

Some young parents who want to give their children a gender-neutral upbringing also opt for male nannies.

Very often in "problem families", where the relationship between mom and dad is already on the verge of divorce, the appearance of a stranger - a strong incentive to normalize relations... And often, noticing how children are drawn to the mustachioed nanny, prodigal dads return to the family.
