Victoria's Secret first hires transgender model

Victoria's Secret previously believed that transgender people had no place among their "angels", and all transgender models who asked for the honor of representing a collection of lingerie were invariably denied. And now the historic moment has come. The brand decided to change its anger to mercy, and the Brazilian Valentina Samayo was offered to become the first transgender model to present a new collection of lingerie.

22-year-old Valentina Sampaio has already taken part in a photo shoot for the presentation of a collection of pink Victoria's Secret lingerie.

It is not the first time for a Brazilian woman to become a pioneer. She previously became the first trans woman to land on the cover of Vogue in 2017.

Valentina has admitted many times that she has never been a victim of discrimination. Even her own parents always respected her choice and accepted the boy's decision to become a girl without judgment.

The brand's decision surprised the fashion industry experts. Until recently, Marketing Director Ed Razek officially announced that trans and plus size models are fundamentally unsuitable for Victoria's Secret.

This is what caused a flurry of criticism of the brand from world celebrities. Rihanna rebelled against such discrimination, Kim Kardashian announced a boycott of the brand. In London, women of plus-size appearance in the same underwear, and not of this brand, went to a protest. And the company's shares fell 41% in value on the global market due to accusations of sexism. Razek made an official apology and, apparently, revised his position.

As for the personality of the model, Valentina, who was born as a boy, began to feel strange and uncomfortable around the age of 8. The psychologist helped Sampaio understand that a woman's essence is hidden inside the boy. Valentina told her parents about her decision at the age of 12.
