The lightening of the hair was successful if the result was the desired tone, and no yellowness was formed on any part of the hair. Yellowness is the main danger of staining and the most common consequence of home staining.

Influencing factors

Lightening and discoloration are terms used to describe the dilution of pigment, both artificial and natural. Lightening allows you to change the color by several shades, desaturation - to bring out the color as such. The bleaching process involves a gradual process: from red it becomes red-orange, then orange, yellow and light yellow.

Lighten the curls with paint, and discolor - almost only with powder.

The operating principle of these two processes is different. Discoloration involves removing the pigment with a special powder. The pigment is located in the very structure of the hair, in the protein layer, for this reason, when bleaching, the hair is significantly injured, "empties". Therefore, lightening is considered a less traumatic procedure.

How to get lighter depends on a number of conditions.

  • Dyed or natural hair. If the curls are already dyed, lightening is impossible, only discoloration will allow you to come to the blonde.
  • Desired outcome. A bright blonde, as well as its cold shades, can be achieved only after discoloration. If you limit yourself to lightening, then melanin (due to the peroxide present in the composition) will acquire a red, yellow or orange color, and this will lead to beige shades. It will still be blond, but warm.
  • Initial hair color. Dark strands will have to be discolored; light strands can be dispensed with in less traumatic ways.
  • The quality of the curls. Sometimes only bleaching will help, but the master does not dare to use it, since the hair is already deprived of life. "Killed" by previous stains and improper care, they will not withstand discoloration.

Not all clients of hairdressing salons delve into the essence of the procedure, their main concern is a beautiful blond without the slightest yellowness. For the tone to be clear, several factors must coincide at once.

The purity of tone is affected by:

  • natural color;
  • base tone of curls;
  • the condition of the hair (if the curls are porous and damaged, you cannot actually do without yellowness);
  • conditions for staining.

The last point must be taken as an axiom.

    A huge number of women are trying to dye their hair blonde on their own. This is the most difficult stain compared to all other colors. It can end dramatically, including hair loss. Therefore, in order to get a beautiful, pure blond, you need to go to the master.

    High-quality staining in modern techniques is expensive, but low-quality will cost even more - the appearance will not please, the hair will require serious rehabilitation, and even more money will have to be paid for treatment, restoration and new coloring.

    Choosing a means for coloring

    There are a lot of products on the cosmetic market, and a huge part of them involves home use. It's a risky business, but a popular one. Even if you decide to paint at home, you need to thoroughly study the issue.

    Popular brighteners:

    • permanent paints - they penetrate deeply into the hair structure, form a persistent shade, lighten without yellow undertones, subject to the dyeing conditions;
    • blonde sprays - help fair-haired women to become 2 tones lighter;
    • tint sprays / balms / shampoos - they do without ammonia and hydroperite, the main brightening components, in most cases they are used to get rid of yellowness;
    • blonde shampoos - lighten in a couple of tones, are naturally suitable for blonde women, as well as for those who want to level the difference between the bulk of the hair and growing roots;
    • white henna - a cheap product that has nothing to do with natural therapeutic henna (in the composition of white henna there is hydroperite, it damages the hair);
    • brightening creams - able to lighten curls by 2 tones, elements with a restoration effect complement their composition.

    Whichever remedy is chosen, an allergic reaction test must be carried out.

    Even if a woman has not previously encountered an aggressive reaction to the dye composition, each new procedure can lead to negative consequences.

    Rating of the best paints for blondes:

    1. Revlon Professional - in addition to lightening, the paint slows down the aging process of the hair.
    2. Matrix - in terms of price / quality ratio, it is considered one of the best options.
    3. Londa professional - guarantees economical consumption.
    4. Ollin Professional - restores the structure of the hair.
    5. Garnier Olia - dispenses with ammonia.

    It makes no sense to list specific paint numbers: blond has a wide layout of shades, and the achievement of each of them may involve different stages. In one case, the hair needs bleaching, in the other - in pickling, etc. But if you still give a few examples, then among them there will be Garnier Olia 10.1, Wellaton 12/0, Loreal Exellence 8.1, Syoss 10-05.

    How to dye your hair correctly?

    First you need to decide on the composition and its structure. The best option (for self-painting at home) is ammonia-free oil paint. The powder composition can achieve pure color, but it has an extremely negative effect on the hair structure. Creamy paint is easy to use, it does not flow, does not threaten the appearance of stains on clothes and painting over skin areas.

    It is not necessary to wash your hair before dyeing, it is important to preserve the protective fat layer, which protects the scalp from the negative effects of the composition... But if the curls are very dirty, you can wash them without particularly affecting the scalp.

    Attention! It is necessary to mix the coloring composition specifically before the staining procedure, the formula of the paint is such that the oxidation process starts already during mixing, soon the color brightness will drop.

    The clarification process looks like this.

    • You need to apply the dye from that part of the hairline where the lightening should be maximum.
    • The hairline at the temples and forehead is painted over last, since these curls are most sensitive to the dye. If you ignore this moment, the hair in this area will be lighter than other curls.
    • The root areas, whatever tone is chosen, should always be darker than the main mass. It is good if the strands in front are lighter than the back of the hair, and the upper curls are slightly lighter than those below.
    • It is important to apply the dye quickly so that the color intensity does not drop. It is important to try to keep within 15 minutes (or better - 10) for all staining. This can be done at home.
    • For dyeing, thin strands are taken so that the dye will thoroughly saturate each hair.
    • The countdown of the duration of the paint action begins from the moment the last curl is painted over. If this is clarification, then you will have to wait up to 50 minutes. More detailed and precise instructions should be read in the paint insert. If you use extra heat, the dyeing process is reduced by a third.
    • After the entire composition is applied, a kind of "shell" of the coloring agent is formed on the hair. It creates a greenhouse effect by making it difficult for free oxygen to be released.
    • Before washing off the composition, the so-called control is carried out. Its job is to make sure the color is uniform. With a comb, you should move the composition from the root zone, and then do the same on the tips of the curls.
    • If the gray hair is painted over and it is found that the effect has not been achieved, the dye is left on the hair until the result is achieved (but not more than 10-15 minutes).
    • As soon as the ideal color has been obtained, emulsification is carried out. This is an important and integral stage of dyeing, which consists in the fact that a little warm water is applied to the curls, foamed, and distributed along the length. Massaging occurs along the edge of hair growth. So easily the dye is removed, and the curls begin to shine.
    • After emulsification, the curls are thoroughly washed with water, then they need to be washed with a special shampoo and treated with a neutralizing balm. This is done to make the remaining paint finish the action.

      This is roughly what the standard lighting looks like. It is easier to get a warm tone; to create a cold one, subsequent toning will be required (in most cases).

      Remember that you cannot use metal instruments and utensils during the procedure. This is fraught with a reaction with an oxidizing agent, which will negatively affect the result of staining.

      How to maintain color?

      It so happens that yellowness does not fully manifest itself immediately. And if it is not possible to visit the salon to a master who will eliminate yellowness, you can try to cope with it yourself. Partly get rid of the unwanted shade can honey mask. You just need to warm up liquid honey, apply it along the entire length, make a warming cap on your head and wash off the composition after a few hours.

      For a luxurious blonde, it's not enough just to lighten. To maintain the shade, the curls have to be constantly and systematically looked after.

      1. After lightening for at least 3 weeks, you need to use products for colored hair (lines for blondes). Then you can alternate: first, a balm / shampoo for colored, then restoring, then - for volume, etc.
      2. Oils, serums and shine sprays are a must. The curls after lightening are porous, in the light they glare unevenly.Because of this, it seems that the tone is not the same along the entire length.
      3. Nourishing masks help to maintain not just color, but healthy-looking hair. You should buy products that contain natural vegetable oils, but not synthetic ingredients.
      4. To preserve a cold blonde, a high-quality toning shampoo or balm is used. These products usually have a blue or purple tint.
      5. When drying with a hair dryer, using flat pans and irons, thermal protective equipment is required.
      6. Already in April it is time to start using products with SPF, sunscreen filters in shampoos and balms will help the hair to resist the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation.

        Finally, you can use and folk recipes for maintaining a blond... For example, using chamomile tea to rinse your hair can be surprisingly powerful. And cheap, and simple, and absolutely natural.

        Professional advice

        There are a great many shades of blonde: each brand of dye is ready to offer its own palette. Shades are warm and cold.

        A pure straw color without yellowness is considered a universal tone.

        If the coloring is uniform, competent, it will suit different types. The landmark is the most natural tone, a slight effect of burnt-out strands.

        Top 5 tips for blondes:

        • In determining the appropriate shade, you need to focus on the color of the skin and eyes. Brown-eyed women with a grayish skin tone may turn to rich honey tones. Gray or blue eyes combined with light, almost transparent skin are a good basis for a clean, cold blonde. Only warm shades of blond are suitable for green-eyed women.
        • The main color trend is ammonia-free paints. Ammonia has been replaced with safe components (although their safety is relative). But such paints, alas, are not capable of giving a platinum effect. They are made for highlights and light brightening for warm colors.
        • If the staining takes place in the salon, there is nothing to worry about. Even over the past 5 years, technologies and approaches have changed significantly. Lightening has become more correct and less traumatic. It is not yet possible to say so about home staining.
        • Be sure to treat your hair before dyeing. If there are problems (dryness, brittleness, loss), you first need to deal with them. Dyeing hurts the hair without a doubt, and it will simply "finish off" sore curls.

        Hair can become the main external highlight of a woman... They can soften the roughness of facial features, distract from minor imperfections, and accentuate the depth of eye color and skin tone. Therefore, they themselves need special attention and competent coloring, if they cannot do without it.
