Cocoa hair color is considered difficult even for professional craftsmen, since it includes different tones: brown, chestnut and chocolate. And if, moreover, it is combined with milky or icy undertones, then it is extremely difficult to achieve it - you need a phased staining. True, the result can be overwhelming - the hairstyle looks really luxurious.

Shades of color

The palette of cocoa shades includes warm and cold tones. The former include various combinations of colors such as chestnut and chocolate with golden, copper, and sometimes reddish tints.

    But, perhaps, the most popular are cold shades, which give a special aristocracy and elegance to the owners of such hair.

    There are two tones that are remarkable in their appearance:

    • cocoa (coffee) with milk - soft, noble, velvety color with brown undertone and milky pearl overflow, suggesting a romantic, delicate and at the same time luxurious image;
    • cocoa with ice - in fact, this is an ashy shade, so popular and difficult to achieve.

    Both options are relevant for both young girls and adults, serious ladies. The most interesting thing is that the obtained shade is not always achieved due to a certain color of paint - this often comes from a combination of different depths of staining on individual strands.

    With regard to coffee tones, also common coloring techniques are: partial highlighting, balayage and ombre, the result of which looks no worse than with a solid color

    Who is it suitable for?

      Brown and chestnut colors, which contain notes of cocoa, are considered universal tones for most women with a wide variety of appearances.As for the cool tones of this palette, they may not suit everyone.

      The color of cocoa with milk overflow provides for the presence of such natural data:

      • light, cream, snow-white or olive skin;
      • eyes with gray, greenish, blue or brown irises.

      For girls belonging to the winter color type, with cornflower blue, black, blue eyes and marbled white skin, the shade of cocoa with ice is suitable.

      If a woman has bronze or olive skin, and her eyes are gray or brown, then professionals advise using soft, warm shades of coffee and cocoa. It is better to choose a cappuccino tone for fair skin, green or blue eyes.

      It is undesirable to use a soft coffee color for ladies with natural copper, red and reddish hair, as, as a result, an ugly yellow tint may remain on them. It will also be difficult for brunettes to get rid of the dark brown natural pigment completely, which can damage the color.

      You should not repaint in cold tones and those young ladies who have too dark skin or tan, because it is impossible to speak with confidence about the result of staining, unless it is possible to apply computer modeling. The easiest way is to achieve the desired tone on the hair of brown-haired women, especially dark blond ones, which do not have a tendency to appear yellow or copper tint.

      And one more important nuance - on long hair darker shades of cocoa look much better, and for short hairstyles it is better to choose light colors.

      Choice of paint

      At home, it will most likely be impossible to achieve the desired shade, unless the lady herself is a hairdresser. In addition, it is necessary to choose the exact paint that will ensure the success of the procedure.

      There are dyes with a permanent composition, but they contain harmful components that destroy the hair, and in the end, even a successful dyeing of the color will lead to a deterioration in the appearance of the hairstyle. Tinting, gentle paints, despite being safe, may not give the desired shade and lasting effect, since they are quickly washed off. Therefore, it would be wise to choose a branded product that does not have a negative effect on the strands and helps to create a tone that is as close as possible to intended.

      Today, the range of such products is quite large, and the shade of interest is present in many catalogs of popular manufacturers:

      • Estelle company offers two tones that can be correlated with the color of cocoa in color: medium blond brown (7/7), light blond (8/0);
      • Londa - numbers 9/73 and 8/7, in addition, the composition of the dye enriches the hair with reflective particles, giving additional shine;
      • manufacturers Palette brands released a shade close to cocoa under the number 6/6;
      • Garnier brand recommends product 7/1 for women with blond and blond hair and 7/0 (cappuccino).

      To find the right product, first of all, you should pay attention to the Cafe Late series, which is produced by many cosmetic companies.

      If the original color does not differ much from the selected shade from the coffee palette, it is quite possible to use these paints yourself. To do this, you cannot wash your hair 2-3 days before dyeing: this way the hair is less damaged and dyed more evenly. But you should be prepared for the fact that the procedure will have to be repeated several times in order for the color to become pronounced.

      A special feature of dyeing on dark hair is preliminary lightening by 1-2 tones. However, the masters believe that it is enough to carry out selective highlighting to make the shade more natural and advantageous. Of course, procedures such as toning and coloring are easier to order in the salon.

      How to care after staining?

      Unfortunately, over time, any dye fades on the hair, and the color of cocoa is no exception. In addition, fading of the tone is often accompanied by the appearance of yellowness.

      Salon craftsmen give their recommendations in this regard to prevent such changes.

      • To fix such a beautiful, but unstable color, at first, it is necessary to use permanent (resistant) paint once a month, and then switch to more gentle formulations that do not contain peroxide and ammonia.
      • The rest of the time, when washing your hair, you need to use toning agents that maintain the color and at the same time neutralize the unwanted yellow tint.
      • It is important to use shampoos and conditioners designed for colored hair that will keep the color from washing out.
      • While maintaining the tone of the curls, one should not forget about their health, otherwise the hair will lose its elasticity and natural shine, and then even a beautiful shade will not improve the overall appearance of the hairstyle. For this, it is possible to use special ready-made compositions that improve the structure of the hair, but homemade masks, including some fresh products and medicinal herbs, are also effective.

      Among the effective ways to maintain the health and appearance of the strands are the following recipes:

      • mask of raw chicken yolk, honey, chamomile decoction - the mixture should be of a mushy consistency, applied for 15–20 minutes before shampooing;
      • chamomile broth (30 gr) is mixed with 1 tbsp. l. brewed coffee and a few drops of ylang-ylang essential oil - apply the composition along the entire length of the hair, choosing individual curls, keep it on the head for about 15 minutes;
      • to preserve the shade, take 1 tbsp. l. cocoa, 2 tbsp. l. coffee, 3 tbsp. l. black tea and a glass of boiling water, brew and leave for 2-3 hours, at the end add the yolk and a little burdock oil, keep the mask for 2 hours

      Unusual shades of cocoa, of course, create a magical image, delicate and attractive, however, when choosing a color, it is necessary to match not only the color of the eyes and skin, but also the natural tone of the hair, otherwise the new color may become a surprise - not always pleasant.
