The main component of the image of a modern girl is a beautiful hairstyle, which provides not only an original haircut, but also an appropriate shade of hair. Among the many colors, mahogany deserves special attention. It is presented in a rich palette, so it is easy to pick it up for any lady's look.

Who is it suitable for?

The mahogany color is considered one of the most fashionable, as it suits all women, regardless of their age. The only thing that, when choosing it, should take into account the type of appearance. The mahogany tone can be either dark, chestnut, or have a smooth transition to a light red palette. You can achieve the effect of a chic hairstyle with this color both in professional beauty salons and at home. Before embarking on the "creative process" for dyeing curls, you should know who exactly the mahogany tone suits best.

Stylists advise girls with an autumn color type to use this color, as it suits them best. Red shades are ideally complemented by dark skin and dark eyes (black or brown). Mahogany shades are also recommended for owners of natural brown, light brown or slightly red hair. Despite the fact that this color is mainly chosen by mature ladies, today many girls dye their hair in it after 20 years.

This is due to the fact that mahogany provides a unique opportunity to change your image beyond recognition, add stateliness, solidity and make your hairstyle more voluminous.

Before making drastic changes to the image by dyeing hair in a given color, the girl needs to weigh all the pros and cons of such a transformation. It is important to consider the following nuances.

  • A rich shade of mahogany can both favorably emphasize the dignity of appearance, and highlight existing defects. So, for example, after dyeing curls, redness on the face, vascular networks and freckles may become more noticeable.
  • Mahogany hair is well suited for aspiring individuals who have a talent in the field of exact sciences and finance.
  • This color also looks unusual on dyed dark chestnut or dark blond curls. It takes on an unusual shade, indicating the sophistication of a woman.
  • Mahogany will also be an ideal choice for owners of light (porcelain) skin and green eyes or dark skin and brown or tea-colored eyes.
  • Mahogany shades are also considered a win-win option for women whose hair has a pronounced reddishness. They complement the image with softness, warmth and enhance the lady's charm.

As for women who are classified as "contrasting winter", they are not recommended to dye their curls in mahogany, as it makes the skin even paler, depriving the appearance of attractiveness. It is undesirable to choose it even if there are age spots, inflammation, redness and manifestations of atopic dermatitis on the face.

    Popular shades

Mahogany is presented not only in pure color, but also has many alternative saturated shades. Each tone is characterized by its own characteristics.

    • Dark. It is a paint in which there are notes of red and orange hues. Stylists recommend this option to swarthy girls with brown eyes. After painting in mahogany color, you can achieve maximum expression of the face. Dark mahogany is suitable for the fair sex of all ages.
    • Copper. Most often, this shade has a chestnut overflow. This tone is now considered the most fashionable and is at the peak of its popularity. The mahogany shade in this design is dynamic. It is best to choose it for girls with dark skin and dark eyes.
    • Light. It is also called "golden mahogany". He unusually emphasizes the beauty of the eyes, without changing the natural image of the girl.

Light shades look good in combination with light beige skin and green or blue eyes.

    Overview of paint manufacturers

Experts recommend changing hair color only with the help of special professional dyes, since this is a guarantee that the effect obtained will be with minimal harm to the strands. Today the market is represented by a huge selection of hair coloring products that can be used both in the salon and at home. You can achieve a beautiful rich mahogany shade by purchasing paints from the following manufacturers.

    • Acme. This trade mark produces high-quality Rowan paint, which is presented in various shades, ranging from dark eggplant, light mahogany and ending with copper. The products are popular due to their low prices, but they contain ammonia. In addition, the composition of the paints contains nettle and burdock extract, which make the painting more gentle.
    • Revlon. The "Professional Revlonissimo" product line allows you to dye your hair in such beautiful colors as "Mahogany", "Beaujolais", "Eggplant", "Burgoudny" and "Dark brown". The paint of this manufacturer has received many positive reviews, as it does not harm the strands and provides a chic color effect.
    • L'oreal. This manufacturer has established itself well in the market for high quality products. In order to obtain light chestnut and dark shades, you should purchase Grenada Mahogany (4.56) from the Preferance, Ripe Eggplant (P37) and Intense Amber (P50) lines. For coloring in dark red it is recommended to choose "Ruby" and "Mahogany". All of the above paints do not contain ammonia; less aggressive chemicals are used during their production. In addition, the manufacturer adds royal jelly to the dyes, thanks to which the hair becomes more manageable and shiny.
    • Estel. Products manufactured under this brand are represented by professional paints that can be used at home. Hair coloring is carried out under the influence of chemical reactions with the participation of hydrogen peroxide. The mahogany palette has several shades: "Dark Mahogany", "Mahogany", "Brown Mahogany".

Despite the high quality of the above paints, experts still recommend the use of therapeutic and careful staining with henna.

It allows you not only to acquire a contrasting shade, but also contributes to the recovery of hair, giving it thickness and volume.

      How to dye your hair?

It is important for every girl to have a gorgeous hairstyle, which is impossible to imagine without a beautiful hair color. Recently, painting strands in mahogany color has been very popular among the fair sex. To do this, you can choose several options for the procedure:

      • using henna;
      • with the help of tint balms and shampoos;
      • using professional paint.

Each of the above types of painting has both pros and cons. So, for example, shampoos and balms provide the most gentle effect on the hair and are characterized by a quick effect. In addition, with the help of these tinting agents, you can even paint over gray hair, changing its color by several tones. The only drawback of such tonics is that to maintain a contrasting shade, the curls need to be tinted periodically. This procedure should be repeated especially often for a brunette.

As for professional paints, they contain additional chemical ingredients in their composition that help to enhance the shade and restore the health of the strands. To get a beautiful color, experts recommend choosing shades close to the natural hair tone. In addition, the color depth depends on the dwell time of the paint. Regardless of how resistant the paint is, it is recommended to renew it every month.

The most useful and safe is henna staining. Since this dye is natural (it is made from the leaves of an Asian tree), it gives the curls additional elasticity, volume and density, making them shiny. To obtain the desired shade, you need to acquire a certain type of natural dye. As a rule, it is presented in the form of Sudanese, Indian and Iranian paints, each of which has its own nuances in coloring.

If hair dyeing at home is done for the first time, then the novice master needs to follow the following instructions.

        • First of all, you should prepare the paint, for which henna is mixed with basma in a ratio of 1: 2. If the girl's hair color is chestnut or medium blond, then you need to take twice as much henna as basma. This will provide a brighter shade. In addition, it is recommended to add a few tablespoons of cranberry juice to the composition. Everything is thoroughly mixed (cranberry juice, henna) and heated to a temperature of + 80-90 degrees.
        • After the prepared mixture for dyeing hair has cooled to a comfortable temperature, the egg yolk is added to it and everything is applied to the strands, keeping for 30 minutes. Then basma is applied for 15-30 minutes (it all depends on the desired shade). It is recommended to insulate the head with a plastic cap.
        • The procedure ends with a head wash using nourishing shampoos.

If desired, a revitalizing balm can be applied to the curls.

At home, hair is dyed with henna and in other ways. So, for example, many ladies mix henna with walnuts to obtain a red-red hue, for which they are pre-crushed in a meat grinder and boiled for 10 minutes in a small amount of water. As a result, a mixture is obtained that has the consistency of a liquid gruel, and it is applied to the hair for 30 minutes. Then everything is washed off and henna is applied, previously mixed with the yolk. It is left for at least 2 hours, then washed off, and as a result, even dark brown-haired women get a beautiful wine tint on their hair.

You can also add intensity to the mahogany color with the help of a fragrant clove, which is added to dry henna (no more than 2 teaspoons). The resulting powder mixture is diluted in water and applied to the strands, holding from 30 minutes to 2 hours. To slightly muffle the red tone, but get a bright color, you can add 2 teaspoons of ground coffee to the henna instead of cinnamon. Everything is filled with hot water and infused for 15 minutes. The result is an unusual brown shade with a slight reddishness.

In the event that there is no time to prepare dye mixtures, it is best to use ready-made professional dyes that are applied to the hair as follows.

        • First of all, you need to throw an old towel over your shoulders or put on a T-shirt that will protect your clothes from the dye. After that, you should comb your hair and divide it into 4 sections (2 vertical and 2 horizontal). Three sections need to be twisted and secured, and the remaining one should be painted. But do not forget about applying petroleum jelly to the edges of your ears (this will prevent staining of the skin).
        • Then gloves are put on and the paint is prepared as indicated in the instructions for it. Apply it on strands up to 1 cm wide, slightly stepping back from the hair roots. It is necessary to apply the coloring agent along the entire length of the strands.
        • After the work is completed with the first section, proceed to the rest.

Next, the paint is left for the time indicated in the instructions, after which it is washed off with warm water and shampoo with conditioner is applied.

        Care after staining

Regardless of how the hair was dyed, it needs careful care, which it is advisable to start immediately after dyeing. The main feature in such care is its versatility, that is, in addition to deep moisturizing and nutrition, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the coloring pigment in the structure of each hair, as well as to give elasticity and shine to the curls. All these requirements are met by both ready-made cosmetics sold in stores and masks prepared at home. To properly restore the health of your hair after dyeing, you must follow the following guidelines.

        • After each hair wash, you need to use a special balm, the composition of which is designed to care for colored strands. The balm must be applied even when the hair was dyed with henna and basma. The only thing is that in this case, the head cannot be washed for 3 days - this is needed to fix the dye.
        • Various types of masks must also be applied to dyed hair - these can be professional products and do-it-yourself homemade products.
        • For rinsing hair, only natural products should be used that enhance the saturation of hair color, give it shine and give it moisture. For strands painted in dark colors, it is advisable to use herbal decoctions from walnut leaves and oak bark. Chamomile infusions will help to emphasize the radiance of light mahogany. It is very simple to prepare such a homemade rinse: take 2-3 tablespoons of dry chamomile flowers, pour boiling water (500 ml), leave everything for several hours, filter and apply at the end of a standard shampoo.

In addition, the following recipes for the care of colored strands prepared at home will also be useful.

        Avocado mask (moisturizing)

It helps to soothe the epidermis of the scalp and moisturizes the colored curls well, giving them incredible shine and elasticity. This is because avocados contain many beneficial vitamins (E, C, B6, K), fats, and folate. This mask is ideal for any type of mahogany-dyed hair. To prepare it, you will need yolk, pulp from one avocado fruit, avocado seed, tea tree oil, coriander, cypress, 2 drops each.

        Preparing the mask is simple.

First, the avocado is cut and a bone is taken out, which must also be cut into 2 parts and ground in a coffee grinder until it becomes powdery. The pulp of the fruit can be either softened in a blender or grind with a fork. All ingredients are mixed, yolk and essential oils are added to them. Then the resulting mask is applied to pre-washed, moisturized hair, distributing it to the ends. A plastic cap is put on, the head is covered with a terry towel on top and kept for an hour, after which everything is washed off with warm water.

        Herbal Hair Restoration Oil

A similar remedy can be quickly prepared at home and used on hair dyed with henna or dye. This oil is characterized by healing properties and effectively restores the structure of damaged hair. To prepare it, you need to have chamomile inflorescences, nettle and sage leaves, 1 tbsp. l, vegetable oil (sunflower, burdock, olive or almond) - 200 ml.

For cooking, take all dry ingredients and pour oil into a glass container. Everything is covered with a tight lid and hides in a dark place for 2 weeks. Then the herbal oil is filtered and used to restore hair, after warming up in a water bath. The product is applied to moist and clean curls with a special brush from tips to roots. Everything is kept for 45 minutes under a terry towel and a cellophane cap, then washed off with warm water.
