Advantages

Why, when buying winter shoes, is it worth giving preference to models made of genuine leather, because leatherette boots can be no less spectacular in appearance?

Advantages

Let's list a number of advantages of leather shoes over artificial leather shoes:

Comfort

Shoes made of genuine leather wear out over time, as if adjusting to the foot of a particular person. Leatherette shoes do not stretch, it is much easier to fill calluses with such shoes.

Profitability

Despite the fact that leather shoes are more expensive than shoes made from artificial materials, this price justifies itself. Genuine leather is a durable material. Genuine leather shoes withstand a wide range of temperatures. With proper care and adherence to the "operating conditions", genuine leather boots will serve you for more than one season, while leatherette shoes become unusable much earlier than leather ones. Leatherette boots are usually not recommended to be worn at temperatures below −20 ... −25 degrees Celsius.

Hygiene

Feet in leather shoes practically do not sweat, since air exchange is maintained. Not every shoe made from artificial materials has this property.

Beautiful appearance

With proper care, leather boots will look good throughout their lifespan. Leatherette shoes lose their presentability pretty quickly.

Models

We list the most fashionable models of leather boots in recent and current seasons.

A very wide variety of models is united only by the presence of a high bootleg. Maxi length is the main trend. Basic models:

The model of boots with a wide bootleg, into which you can tuck trousers, is called "temdera". Convenience and comfort are becoming more fashionable than ever. These shoes can be combined with dresses and trousers;

With the highest and narrowest bootleg and with decorative frequent lacing

Such decoration gives grace to winter shoes and looks ultra-fashionable.

Knee high boots

The main, and sometimes the only, decorative element of this model is the zipper. The extravagance of the style must be balanced by the simplicity of the design. These shoes are recommended to be worn with short-length outerwear; they can be perfectly combined with the length of mini clothes or narrow trousers;

On a stiletto heel with a high, narrow shaft and a rounded toe.

The hairpin can be matched to the platform. The boot is sometimes decorated with lacing. Such footwear is not considered an element of everyday style, it can be called model, “out”;

With a square or widening / slightly tapering downwards thick, rather massive heel and a high bootleg.

Such shoes are presented in many winter collections of different designers. The heel height can be very different, but such a heel should be comfortable. Good shoe stability comes in handy for the winter season;

On a high platform

Wedge heel

Wedge heels can be seen both on models with a narrow bootleg and with a wide one (Temder boots). In this case, the height of the bootleg is maximum in all models. Wedge heels appear both in over the knee boots and in boots with decorative lacing. In winter, a wedge heel is a great alternative to high heels, it allows you to look elegant and feminine, regardless of the weather;

Boots-shoes

Stocking boots

The length of such shoes can be like real stockings, and the fastener is sometimes located at the back. These shoes pair perfectly with short dresses and skirts - a good way to demonstrate slim legs in the cold season. You can wear such shoes with midi-length clothes if the dress or skirt has a slit;

Shoes with a transparent heel can be seen not only at fashion shows. One of the latest fashion fads is the heel, slightly shifted to the middle of the sole, due to which the heel visually hangs over it;

Patent leather.

Glam-rock style.

This style can be adhered to even in winter. Winter leather boots decorated with metallic elements will help to match the chosen look;

The ribbed sole can be found on both flat shoes and platform boots. This is when the weather dictates style;

Bright colors, with a combination of various textures.

Colors

In addition to the traditional, always fashionable, black, designers offer shoe models in various shades of brown, chocolate, terracotta, beige and shades of blue, green and purple that are completely unusual for winter. Do not forget about white.

Gray and metallic silver are increasingly being used.

Extravagant prints under snake skin or skin of other reptiles, tiger skin and other "animal" colors are becoming fashionable.

Modern technologies and imagination of designers provide us with the opportunity to see unusual interpretations of "animal" prints in completely unexpected colors: blue or burgundy.

Floral and wallpaper prints are also used.

In addition to the most relevant dark blue, light blue, green and gray colors, the fashion for the current season is autumn - winter brown-gray, bright mustard, brown-orange, pink-brown hue, warm red and pink-lilac.

Fashionable colors are annually announced by the Pantone Color Institute. Each color has its own unique name: Lush Meadow, Pottery Clay, Red Aurora, Dusty Cedar, Reckless / Outrageous, etc.

The colors of past seasons were Marsala (2015), Rose Quartz and Lavender (Serenity) (2016). The most fashionable color of 2017 was declared grassy green - the shade "green".

In the shoe fashion of recent seasons, as never before, combinations of various colors and textures are actively used, which previously could be called incongruous, for example, a futuristic design of heels or, conversely, wooden heels on boots.

How to choose?

When choosing the style of winter leather boots, you should focus not only on your preferences and tastes, but also keep in mind the peculiarities of your own figure.

Models with a wide bootleg are the most versatile and non-binding option, in contrast to styles with a narrow bootleg, which should be paid special attention to by owners of slender legs. To decide on a shoe model, you can come to the store with an advisor - a person whose opinion you trust.

Before going to the store, inspect your wardrobe: when buying winter boots, you should also take into account whether the new thing will be combined with outerwear, and will match the style of other things.

When choosing winter boots, as well as when buying any other footwear, you need to take into account their purpose: shoes “for every day” or “for going out”.

You shouldn't buy model shoes for everyday wear. This is not practical, and model shoes (including those with high thin heels or patent ones) are not designed for daily use.

It should be borne in mind that patent leather shoes cannot be worn at temperatures below -10 degrees Celsius. It deteriorates from dampness and exposure to direct sunlight.

When buying winter leather boots, you should pay attention to the fact that leather shoes are marked in a special way: this is a tag that resembles the outline of a skin.

Any winter boots should be tried on before buying.

For trying on, it is better to take socks with you, which will be worn with winter shoes. Ordering from a catalog or in an online store, without risking a mistake with the choice, you can only those models that you have already worn.

The weather factor must also be taken into account.

Shoes with thick soles will be warmer, grooved soles in ice will protect you from falling. When trying on, it is imperative to take into account how comfortable it is in the shoes, and do not forget that leather shoes tend to wear out a little over time. A good option for winter shoes is a removable insole. This insole can be easily dried or replaced if necessary. The insole should be soft enough, too hard can cause blisters.

For everyday wear, shoes with a low (4–5 cm) stable heel would be ideal.

Stiletto heels are not recommended to be worn for more than four hours a day. A high bootleg is the best choice for winter. The warmest of all will be in over the knee boots, which cover not only the shins, but also the knees.

Winter shoes should not be tight, too narrow boots disrupt blood circulation, squeezing the foot.

In such shoes, the foot will freeze, and the risk of developing arthrosis also increases. In winter boots, it should be possible to wiggle your toes a little, they should not be squeezed. But the shoes should not dangle on the leg either.

When choosing winter leather boots, you should also think about how much effort and time it will take to care for such shoes in the future.

Boots made from a combination of different materials are difficult to care for: leather with textile or suede trim. Each element of such a shoe will require the use of a different specialized care product. Light-colored leather shoes are quite capricious: even water stains can remain on such boots.Patent shoes require a delicate attitude and special attention and the use of special care products.

Price can also be a determining factor. You can save money on purchases by purchasing shoes at the seasonal sale. However, out of season the choice can be significantly limited.

How to care?

New leather boots should be coated with a special impregnating agent or cream before wearing.

Make sure that the color of the cream matches the color of the shoes, and the purpose matches the type of material.

  • Silicone-impregnated sponges should not be used to care for leather shoes.
  • You do not need to wear leather boots if it is damp, slushy or sleet outside.

If your shoes do get wet, you should dry them well, but away from heat sources (do not leave your boots near the radiator).

To avoid deformation of the shoes during drying, you should use special pads or simply stuff the boots tightly with paper.

Once a week, leather boots should be polished with a special cream, periodically treated with water-repellent agents.

Any shoe care products should only be applied to clean and dry boots. Remove dirt from leather boots with a soft brush and a damp cloth. Then the shoes are wiped dry. You cannot wash leather shoes in water! In case of stubborn dirt, you can use specially designed products to clean your shoes.

For some types of leather shoes, only dry cleaning is allowed; a damp cloth cannot be used to remove dirt on such shoes.

Patent leather shoes require special care. When cleaning these shoes, no brushes are used, only a soft cloth. In any case, you need to familiarize yourself with the shoe care instructions offered by the manufacturer and follow the recommendations given in it.

It is recommended to have several pairs of shoes for the same season, as with daily use of one pair it is not possible to dry the shoes well, and this is extremely important to maintain its performance and extend its life.

Damp or poorly dried leather shoes should not be worn; they can stretch and lose their shape.

At the end of the season, store your leather shoes in a dry, well-ventilated area away from sunlight and heat sources. It is not recommended to store leather boots in plastic bags or plastic boxes. For this, it is better to use a cloth or special covers.
