The color of gold has always been the color of wealth, and gold jewelry has emphasized the status of its owners.

Today, gold is still in value, but it is not cheap. Therefore, not all women can afford to buy their favorite gold earrings. Moreover, several couples at once, in order to change them depending on the outfit, circumstances or mood.

That is why gilding was invented. It is a thin layer of gold applied to jewelry made from cheaper metals. Most often, nickel, brass, copper, steel or silver are used as the basis for gilded jewelry. The latter is used precisely for the manufacture of earrings.

It is worth noting that silver itself is considered a very useful and beautiful metal, and in combination with gold, these benefits and beauty increase several times.

For "ennobling", after making the silver earrings are wrapped in sheets of noble metal, which are firmly fixed to the products using a simple electrolysis process. The thicker the gold plates, the better the finished product.

Depending on the thickness of such a sheet, gilding can be:

  • Standard. For it, a precious metal of at least 385 is used. In this case, the layer thickness reaches 2.5 microns.
  • With a fineness of 585 and higher, thickness over 2.5 microns.
  • White. To obtain white gold, this metal is alloyed with palladium, nickel and silver. The thickness of such a coating on silver earrings can be from 2.5 to 5 microns.
  • Pink. Copper gives the alloy a soft pink tint.Thickness can also vary from 2.5 microns and up.

Some earrings may even have a test (this test applies only to the coating!).
