Patterns for caps

Today, when the whole fashion industry is working on the creation of a wide variety of clothing and hats, interest in needlework continues unabated. After all, wearing a hat knitted with your own hands is much more pleasant, in addition, this thing will be really exclusive. It remains only to decide on the pattern, get more comfortable in an armchair and get to work.

Types of patterns

There are many different patterns that are suitable for knitting hats. Each of them has its own advantages and is interesting in its own way. The choice of pattern also depends on the degree of skill of the needlewoman: it is better for beginners to choose a simpler option, experienced knitters can do any, even the most complex and intricate patterns.

A novice needlewoman should choose the simplest pattern to create a headdress. This is a hosiery, in which in odd rows all loops are knitted with front loops, and in even rows - with purl loops. If you knit tightly, the result will be a smooth, even fabric, to which you can subsequently sew on some kind of decorative element.

Alternatively, the hat can be made with a denser garter stitch.that looks the same on both sides. In this case, all loops, regardless of the row, need to be knitted. It should be remembered that this pattern stretches very well, which must be taken into account when calculating the loops. This pattern looks better with thick yarn.

It will be easy for beginners to master the simple "tangled" pattern (it is also called "rice" or "pearl"). Outwardly, the drawing resembles a scattering of small pebbles or cereals (hence the variants of the names). In the process of work, you just need to alternate the front and back loops, knitting them in each new row, not according to the pattern, but changing them (in place of the front one, perform the back loop, and vice versa).Note that the "tangled", like garter stitch, is a two-sided pattern.

A popular and simple pattern for hats is an elastic band. It can be used to make the entire product or only its edge (it will become denser, will not wrap). The elastic consists of alternating front and back loops (there may be a different number of them), as a result of which vertical stripes are obtained: convex - from the front loops, concave - from the purl.

A distinctive feature of this pattern is its elasticity, which is undoubtedly an advantage for a hat. If you use smaller knitting needles, you will get a more contrasting fabric.

The most versatile types of rubber bands are 1x1 and 2x2. In even rows, such patterns are knitted according to the pattern. It is worth noting that the 2x2 option looks better on bulky headdresses (for example, knitted snood, especially if you make it seamless).

You can experiment using a 3x2, 4x5, etc. elastic band for knitting. at your request. The main thing is that you are satisfied with the end result.

If you want to craft a warmer piece, use a double rubber band. Keep in mind that you will need twice as much yarn in this case, since the hat will turn out to be two-layer. The first row of such a pattern is knitted simply: one front loop, the other purl. The main drawing begins with the second row: one loop is made with the front one, and the next one is removed, and the thread must necessarily pass in front of the canvas. All subsequent rows to the very end are knitted in the same way.

The English eraser is already more complicated - it belongs to patent designs. This is a group of patterns that use crochet stitches. In the English elastic, the initial row is knitted in the 1x1 method, in all other rows, the purl loops, you drop, without knitting, with a crochet on the knitting needle, and the front loops are knitted as usual.

Other patent designs are knitted in a similar way, we will give examples such as pearl elastic and "honeycomb" (in large and small versions).

It will not be difficult for a novice needlewoman to perform a variety of geometric patterns based on a certain arrangement of the front and back loops. This is a drawing "chess", representing alternating squares, which can be of different sizes: 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, etc. (but don't make them too big). So, in order to knit a 4x4 "checkerboard", in the first row you knit 4 front and 4 purl loops in turn, knit the next three rows according to the pattern. In the fifth row, in place of the front loops, the purl loops are knitted and vice versa. A hat with this pattern will turn out to be quite dense, it will not wrap up even without an elastic band around the edge.

Another example of a geometric pattern is rhombuses, which are carried out according to a certain scheme.

Caps tied with transverse or diagonal stripes look interesting, especially for volumetric models - a collar cap, or snood. In the first case, several rows are knitted with stockings, and then purl are made in place of the front loops and the next several rows are knitted according to the pattern - this is how the required number of strips is obtained, which can be of different thicknesses. It is not much more difficult to knit diagonal stripes, the basis of the pattern is the alternation of the front and back loops, which gradually shift with each subsequent row.

Relief patterns always look impressive. These hats look more voluminous and attract attention. These are everyone's favorite braids (or Aran patterns), which are obtained as a result of interweaving the front stripes, consisting of a different number of loops, at a certain interval. If you place two pigtails side by side and cross them in opposite directions, you get a different pattern - a complex braid. These patterns noticeably thicken the fabric, so it is ideal for warm winter hats.

Imitates the braid with the recently fashionable "spikelet" pattern.First, a transverse strip is knitted with a large oblique in the center, and then the crown of the cap is tied from it.

Other options for raised embossed patterns - this is a variety of plaits, rhombuses, bumps, raspberries, butterflies, leaves, as well as knitting with a shred effect (in which the front fabric is folded into folds with the help of an auxiliary knitting needle, as if covered with large bubbles).

Many craftswomen are very fond of openwork patterns. These are various waves, snakes, nets, "peacock's tail", openwork leaves, rhombuses, Christmas trees, etc. The basis of these patterns is the use of yarns. These patterns are performed according to simple schemes. As a rule, they are used to create light summer hats. Many small holes provide good ventilation of hats and panamas.

If you want to make a similar product for the off-season, take care of an additional layer - a kind of lining.

Beautiful and original hats with jacquard patterns, which involve the use of multi-colored threads (two or more). Due to this, the products are warm and windproof. In this way, you can get a variety of images: these are abstract ornaments, animals, plants, cartoon characters and much more.

To work, you need threads of the same quality and thickness, which do not fade after washing (otherwise the whole pattern will deteriorate). The needles should not be too thick, otherwise the canvas will turn out to be loose and the broaches on the seamy rows will be visible.

The once popular Norwegian and Scandinavian patterns are back in fashion today.depicting reindeer frozen in a jump, unpretentious stars, schematic snowflakes, Christmas trees and ordinary rhombuses. Men's hats are knitted, as a rule, with geometric jacquard, while women's hats are knitted with floral ones. Beginning needlewomen can knit with the so-called lazy pattern, when the simplest ornament is done "by eye".

Professional knitters can show their imagination and come up with their own pattern, thereby creating a unique piece.

Many have heard of patchwork - patchwork, but not everyone knows that there is a knitted counterpart. This technique is called enterlac. Tied flaps, connecting with each other, form a beautiful colored fabric. The main task here is knitting without breaking the thread.

Schemes

Let's consider in more detail the technique of knitting some patterns.

"Small honeycomb"

In the first row, all the loops are knitted with the front ones. In the second, the front ones alternate with yarns, the row should be finished with a simple removed loop. In the third row, the front and untied crochets are alternately knitted, you need to finish the row with a front loop. The fourth row begins with a crochet, remove the next loop without knitting, knit the front loop with a crochet. In the fifth, we alternate two facial ones with a removed crochet. In the sixth, we knit the front loop together with the yarn, then one yarn, one loop, without knitting, remove. The seventh row is performed like the third. Next comes the repetition of 3-6 rows.

"Network"

The popular braid pattern is somewhat similar to braids, but has a different order of intersections. In this example, the total number of loops is a multiple of six, excluding edging. The initial two rows are made with hosiery. In the third row after the edging, every 6 loops we cross each other (3x3) so that an inclination is formed to the left. 4-6 rows we knit according to the picture. In the seventh row we knit three front loops, and then again, as in the third row, we cross every 6 loops, but now we form a slope to the right side. We knit the eighth row according to the pattern, and starting from the ninth row, the pattern is repeated.

"Butterfly"

This beautiful embossed pattern is made from thick but lightweight yarns. The pattern is formed from broaches that pull the canvas together, creating a relief that resembles a silhouette of a butterfly.

The number of loops is a multiple of ten plus four.

In the first row, knit two loops with the front ones, remove the next five loops without knitting, again five ordinary front loops. The row is completed with two front loops. The second row is made according to the picture. Rows 3-9 are performed similarly to the first and second. In the tenth row, every five broaches must be collected from the front side (purl loop), transfer them to the left knitting needle, and then knit the entire group together with the purl loop that appears.

How to choose a yarn?

If you decide to knit yourself a beautiful hat on your own, then the right yarn is half of the successful result.

When buying thread, read the label carefully. It usually indicates the density of knitting (how many loops and rows are needed to get a square fabric 10x10 cm) and what size of knitting needles should be used when working. To make a jacquard pattern, it is important to know if a given yarn is shedding. Analyze the thread consumption: the thinner they are, the less yarn will be spent on the hat.

Before starting work, knit a small piece and finally determine the knitting density and yarn consumption.

Each specific pattern is designed for a specific yarn. For example, thin openwork hats are knitted from thin cotton threads ("iris", "lily", "violet"). Smooth woolen yarns are suitable for bulky braids, while fluffy mohair and angora don't need fancy patterns - they look great when knitted with a simple stocking stitch. The required thickness of the knitting needles also depends on the texture of the yarn.

The color of the yarn also matters when choosing a hat pattern. So, Aran patterns (intricate interweaving of braids, plaits, braids) look more advantageous on a light canvas. But from melange threads it is better to make a hat with an ordinary elastic band, hosiery or garter stitch.

Beautiful images

  • The head-fitting cap is a combination of two types of elastic bands. The wide placket is made with a simple elastic band - in the form of alternating front and back loops (1x1). The main part of the product is tied with wide stripes. Concave stripes of purl loops gradually fade away, approaching the top of the hat, which is adorned with a black fluffy pom-pom made of natural fur. The knitting of the headdress echoes the texture of the collar of the jacket, and the dark gray color matches the color of the girl's eyes. The pompom is made in the same color as the sweater. All this as a whole creates a harmonious youth image.

  • A charming set of a tight-fitting hat and a massive scarf-collar is made of thick yarn. The headpiece is knitted with a fashionable braid pattern, which looks especially advantageous in light lilac color. This drawing makes the hat more voluminous, which is in harmony with the large features of the girl's face. The chic fur collar of the outerwear adds chic to the whole ensemble.

  • This elegant lightweight beret is perfect for warm spring and early autumn. A pleasant shade of pink matches the girl's hair and refreshes her complexion. The headpiece is made with an airy openwork mesh, and its edge is processed with an elastic band, which is a sequential alternation of two front and three purl loops, which is what takes. A beret casually shifted to one side, the girl's clothes made of yarn of the same texture and color, her loose hair and an enigmatic smile create a gentle romantic image.
