The perception of the whole room largely depends on how the tulle looks on the windows. At the same time, the airy tissue tends to turn gray and yellow over time. To make the window decoration last a long time, while maintaining an elegant look, you can wash it in an automatic machine. The correct approach in this matter will make cleaning things as efficient as possible.

Washing features

Various translucent fabrics are used to create beautiful window curtains. This could be:

  • organza;
  • veil;
  • net;
  • muslin.

Various types of fabrics are made from natural or artificial raw materials:

  • cotton;
  • viscose;
  • silks;
  • synthetics.

It is necessary to wash the tulle in the washing machine, taking into account the characteristics of the fabrics.

    So, when processing cotton, the temperature should be at the level of 40-60 degrees.

      Previously, "clothes for the window" are soaked, choosing the appropriate mode. You need to rinse such curtains at least 2 times.

      Other curtains are washed at 30-40 degrees. Many of them don't wring out. It all depends on the characteristics of the fabrics, if they are, for example, synthetic.

      Choice of funds

      The choice of detergents also depends on what material is used for sewing tulle.

      For all types of fabrics, gels and powders are suitable for processing children's clothes. Organza, muslin and veil can be washed with special shampoos and gels.

      Although organza, like cotton and nylon, can be processed with ordinary powder. For silk items, you can use a special balm.

      But ordinary powder is harmful for such a delicate structure.

      Alkalis, which are present in this kind of products, spoil the weave of silk threads. After washing, the curtains will lose their beauty, and soon they will want to be noticed on others.

      Considering all these features, you should choose household chemicals in the store.

      General rules

      There are general principles for washing tulle in an automatic machine. Whatever base a particular curtain has, it must be treated as carefully as possible so that the window decoration remains elegant.

      It is necessary to refresh such things at least 3 times a year. Although if the house is not in a particularly safe (from the point of view of ecology) place - near the road or in an area where there is some kind of production nearby, then washing will have to be done more often.

      Before putting the veil in the automatic machine, the hooks are removed from it and shaken on the balcony - this will allow part of the dust accumulated on the surface of the material to move away. Thanks to this, you do not have to restart the wash when it turns out that the curtains are not completely clean.

      Do not pour a lot of gel or powder generously into the machine before washing. Surplus detergent will remain in the curtain and it will look washed out. The correct thing to do is to cut the usual amount of detergent in half. For a mesh or very thin fabric, this is quite enough, given that during the time, while the thing is spinning in the typewriter, it creates a large amount of foam around itself.

      When washing, it is advisable to use a special bag that will not allow the tulle placed in it to be damaged. The thing should be rolled up when placed in the drum, and not piled into it in a heap, so that later there are no stripes on it.

      Also, do not try to wash several curtains at the same time or combine them with items of the same color. When there is enough room in the machine, washing and rinsing is more effective.

      Even if it is not known exactly what type of fabric was used for sewing, the tulle is scrolled in the drum in a delicate mode. In this case, the amount revolutions does not exceed 600, and water for washing heats up no higher than 40 degrees. Keep in mind that if the liquid is hotter, the curtains will become shorter or warp.

      After the washing machine has worked, it is not necessary to immediately remove a clean item from it. Sometimes it is more profitable to give time until the water drains, since some fabrics do not have to be wrung out at all along the way, and you do not want to breed dampness in the house either. But this only applies to materials that do not wrinkle too much.

      How to whiten?

      To make the tulle lighter and remove the yellowish tint, the so-called optical or oxygen brighteners will help. Special products can be found on the shelves in household chemicals stores.

      Optical brighteners work on the principle of reflecting particles deposited on the surface of a material. But taking into account their characteristics, it is better to use such funds only on pure white tulle. Colored translucent fabrics can lose their attractiveness if exposed to these chemicals.

      As for oxygen bleaches, you need to consider right away that they are not cheap, although, having bought such a product, you can use it without fear on any fabric, since it does not violate the structure of the material and also works effectively even at low water temperatures.

      If there is no extra money for special bleaches, you can use blue and even brilliant green. 4-5 drops of such a product are diluted in a glass of water so that they are completely dissolved, and pour the liquid into the machine through the air conditioner compartment. (If the chemistry is not completely dissolved in water, colored stains will remain on the things in the machine).

      The tulle is also refreshed by ordinary table salt, which acts as a bleach. It is added to the powder - a couple of tablespoons. Then the "clothes for the windows" are washed in accordance with the rules for handling such things.

      It is also advised to add a tablespoon of baking soda or a bag of baking powder to the machine. Hydrogen peroxide and ammonia also act as a clarifier for fabrics.

      You can before sending to the machine soak the window cloth for a couple of hours in a solution, where for 5 liters of liquid there are 2 tablespoons of ammonia and peroxide, or you can add a little H2O2 directly to the washer.

      In addition, experienced housewives advise adding 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the machine, when it comes to the last rinse of the tulle. After washing, the treated item will become brighter and whiter.

      How to dry?

      The advantage of tulle is that it dries very quickly. But it should be borne in mind that if it is left folded after washing, then the creases on the fabric will be visible from afar, and it is not so easy to smooth them out, especially considering that some fabrics cannot be “introduced to the iron” at all. The curtains removed from the machine are easiest to hang over the bathroom, allowing moisture to drain.

      If the liquid is no longer dripping, you can hang the tulle in its rightful place while wet, since such things still need to be dried in an upright position.
