Winter is already approaching, which means that it's time to get your fur coats, sheepskin coats and down jackets out of the closets. If there is nothing to get out yet, it doesn’t matter! We will help you choose the warmest, most convenient and practical option for the winter.

What is warmer: a down jacket, a coat, a sheepskin coat or a fur coat?

Now there is a very large selection in stores, it is incredibly difficult to decide on a purchase. Let's consider each option, learn about its pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages.
Down jackets are excellent winter clothing with a lot of advantages. They are made from the down of waterfowl, which is an excellent heat insulator, has a porous structure and perfectly retains heat.

The average weight of a down product is only 1.5 kg, which, of course, is much less than the weight of an average fur coat.

Down jackets have many advantages. They are very warm, because hunters, fishermen and professional travelers choose only them for a reason. Also, down jackets are light and comfortable to move, run and work in them.
A high-quality down jacket “breathes” (that is, a person in it should not sweat even with great physical exertion), is not blown by the wind and is not afraid of rain, sleet and generally bad weather. If the down jacket gets dirty, you can wash it even at home. The main thing is to do it not very often.
Another plus of this type of clothing is its low price. In stores, the choice of down jackets is very large - any fashionista will find a model to her taste. Both classic and sporty, and even elegant in the style of the 60s - with a fluffy knee-length skirt.
Down jackets have only one minus - fur coats and sheepskin coats look more representative and status. A person, going to a business meeting, fashion show, to visit or to the theater, will rather put on a fur coat, as it looks more spectacular.
The winter coat is more of a myth than reality.Previously, our mothers and grandmothers wore similar products, but then coats were sewn with insulation and were decorated with fur - natural or artificial.

However, now, unfortunately, the choice of such coats on the market is negligible, and the available options in no way match the level of heat either to a fur coat, or to a down jacket, or to a sheepskin coat.

Still, a coat is the best option for spring or autumn, but in winter women of fashion should be warmed up better, because even the warmest cashmere coat with padding polyester and with beautiful fur on the collar can be worn up to a maximum of -15 degrees.

Sheepskin coats are clothes that a person with any income can buy. These clothes are sewn both from simple skins and exquisite ones. Sheepskin coats are often decorated with diamond knurling or rhinestones, and are decorated with appliqués or embroidery.
If we compare a high-quality long sheepskin coat with any fur coat, then no one wins in terms of the level of heat. But if you put next to a democratic sheepskin coat just below the waist and the simplest fur coat made of muton, then it will immediately become clear which clothes should be chosen in a cold snowy winter.
It is also worth noting that the skin from which the sheepskin coat is made is wiped and salted over time. If you ride it on public transport, then it will quickly lose its appearance and will look less presentable. Fur in this regard is more practical, and down jackets are easy to wash even at home.
A fur coat, without a doubt, is the most fashionable and stylish piece of clothing that does not lose its relevance even after years. It is made of different fur - both expensive and more democratic. Expensive fur coats are mink, beaver and black-brown fox. More budgetary ones - mutton, astrakhan and mountain goat wool.
A fur coat is a great way to prove your high status. It's not just that celebrities appear on the red road in exquisite furs even in summer. However, such coats are made to order, and the fur is used of the highest class - royal sable, chinchilla, marten, blue fox.
In addition to a fur coat, you need to have a simple down jacket in your wardrobe. Fur's main enemies on the street are rain, sleet and anti-icing agents. If the latter got on a fur coat, then it will have to be thoroughly dried and combed, otherwise the expensive thing will only have to be sent to the landfill.

Having bought a down jacket, you should not forget your beautiful fur coat in the closet - if the fur is not "walked", then it deteriorates, turns yellow and begins to smell foul.

Let's summarize:

A fur coat is considered the warmest and most beautiful, but it is more expensive and more difficult to care for.

The next on our list is the down jacket. It is comfortable, beautiful, there are many models and colors, it is cheaper than a fur coat and is extremely easy to clean - just throw it into the washing machine and now it is like new.
The sheepskin coat loses both in warmth and in practicality to the previous options. A winter coat is suitable for those who travel by car. Unfortunately, you won't be able to walk on the street in it at minus thirty.

Which fur is warmer and more practical?

We have already understood that a fur coat warms up perfectly in winter. However, among the fur coats there are both favorites and outsiders in terms of warmth.

The first beaver on the list - a fur coat made of this fur is considered to be sock and very warm. The product can serve twenty or more seasons, but the price of such a fur coat is rather big.

This is followed by models of chinchilla fur. They are warm, but very light and soft.
The third place rightfully belongs to the fox. Fur coats made of this fur are very beautiful and will delight their mistresses not only with warming properties, but with an exquisite appearance.
The fourth place is taken by everyone's favorite mink. This fur coat is not only beautiful, but will also last a long time - at least ten seasons.
Fifth place - charming fox fur coats, a favorite product of Hollywood stars. Arctic fox products are beautiful and lush, but less durable. If you need something more practical, then you should prefer the blue-gray arctic fox.
The sixth place is taken by an incredibly beautiful, expensive and aristocratic sable. This fur is rightfully considered the king of all furs.Products made from the Barguzin sable are especially valuable.
And the last, seventh place is occupied by an inexpensive muton, which will appeal to those who like to change outerwear more often.

How to choose a warm and light coat?

If you decide that a fur coat should appear in your wardrobe this winter, then you should know how to choose it correctly. First you need to check the density of the fur: you need to dilute the villi to the sides, see if there are any bald spots. A good coat is very dense and voluminous. Then run your hand against the grain - the hairs should not break and remain on the arm, and high-quality fur will very quickly regain its shape.
The next step is to check the seams. They should be neat and almost impossible to feel. If there are no seams, that is, the fur coat is glued, it will rattle and rustle a little when you shake it. Such a fur coat is not for us. It will not last long and will quickly disintegrate into shreds.

If the fur coat is expensive and you are told that the fur is not dyed, you should not trust the seller right away. It's very simple to check everything - just look at the color of the skin. For an unpainted fur coat, it should be white. Also be sure to check the tags and labels. Their absence is a great reason to think and purchase.
