Black bathroom faucets are quite rare. Consumers who decide to use such an extraordinary solution should carefully consider all the features and evaluate the nuances of these devices. Only under this condition can you make the right choice.

Features, pros and cons

Speaking of black bathroom faucets, one cannot fail to point out the pompous, even emphatically aristocratic, appearance of such plumbing. It is often believed that a certain mystery and even gloom is inherent in black. However, it is actively used in interiors. This color fits perfectly into the style of the loft and other currently popular solutions. Not only that, black also works well for a classic black and white bathroom.

Many mixers of this color are invented by professional designers.... Therefore, they look unusual in shape. As a result, the cost of products turns out to be higher than in the mass segment. It is easiest to open a black faucet in the bathroom aesthetically by using accessories similar in color (soap dishes, brush holders). Designers celebrate excellent compatibility of black with white, red and gold colors.

But attempts to combine it with other tones will immediately lubricate the entire effect and significantly spoil the case. It is worth considering that there are not so many black mixers. Therefore, it will not be possible to select a suitable model everywhere and not in every situation. But it will immediately stand out visually and become the semantic center of the room. In terms of functionality, the black sanitary fittings are exactly the same as the products of other colors with the same function.

But it is worth considering the obvious negative aspects of such plumbing:

  • a dark mixer is more difficult to care for (droplets, drips, limescale are more noticeable on it);
  • it is more difficult to find the optimal combination with plumbing and furniture;
  • even typical black mixers (there are some) are usually more expensive;
  • you will definitely have to create and think over a suitable entourage, a general environment in order to achieve a harmonious complete image.

Two-valve

Mixers like these retain some popularity. They are the best fit for a classic bathroom. Inside there is a crane-box that starts the flow of cold or hot water. Two-valve products look impressive and solid.

But from time to time they will have to change the gasket.

The fact is that this part is subject to severe wear. And when it is worn out, the tap starts to leak, "drip". In addition, ordinary systems with two valves are not very convenient in practical terms. It can be difficult to set a specific temperature. The more advanced technology of the latest generation is equipped with a pair of valves with a rotating mechanism.

Ceramic plates with special holes are connected to these valves. This improvement makes setting the temperature a little easier and faster. The valves rotate not 360, but 180 or 90 degrees. The specific indicator is determined by the engineering solution. And yet, even improved two-valve systems cannot compete on an equal footing with modern models.

Single-lever

It is the devices with one lever that most people readily buy. And the motives for this choice are quite understandable. You can use them safely, even if only one hand is free.... All water control options are available with just one lever. They can get stronger and weaker, hotter and colder, depending on the movement of the "handle" in two planes.

Single-lever mixers are divided into two subgroups: with ball and cartridge. The second option is now becoming more and more popular. Anyway, solutions with one handle benefit from the speed of opening the water and the speed of shutting off its flow.

Another subspecies of a single-lever mixer is a joystick device. Such designs involve vertical placement of the adjusting knob and are somewhat less common.

Cascading

It is not only practical, but also a chic technological solution for the shower. Moreover, many designers believe that "cascade" type mixers are appropriate to put on the side of the bathtub. In terms of mechanics, such products differ little from single-lever devices. But water will flow from them like a waterfall. Cascade mixing devices are thought out by designers very carefully; there are even backlit solutions.

Thermostatic

Such mixers can be of any of the types described above. All the differences are that there is a temperature regulator inside. It is set up once and no more time is wasted on this. For your information: some of the models are designed only for setting the temperature at the factory. It is installed once and you will not be able to change the settings again.

In any case, the thermostat makes bathing or showering much easier. And it not only simplifies, but also makes this procedure much safer. No matter how the pressure in the water supply changes, the water that is optimal in temperature will flow from the tap. This decision is very valuable for families with small children and for people with a very high pain threshold. Anyone who has tried thermostatic mixers at least once does not refuse them.

Contactless

The very name of this high-tech device directly says that there is no handle or lever in it. All work is done using an infrared sensor. The electronics give the command to turn on the water when the hands are close to the tap. As soon as they move away a little, the flow is blocked. This solution is convenient, hygienic and saves water; some models even have a timer that additionally limits the flow of fluid.

Selection Tips

Choosing combination mixers (with swivel neck) is not very practical. Yes, they allow you to supply water to both the sink and shower at the same time. But this design is very vulnerable. It is imperative to pay attention not only to the manufacturer's brand, but also to the material from which the mixer is made. You should also take into account the following nuances:

  • a good device is never easy;
  • it is useful to equip with an aerator;
  • it is advisable to be interested in the possibility of buying spare parts at once;
  • floor faucets are more suitable for large bathrooms;
  • mortise devices look as original as possible;
  • if it is very difficult to make a good choice, you should give preference to the model built into the wall.

Recommendations for choosing a bathroom faucet are given in the following video.
