Pomchi is not a self-bred dog breed. This type of domestic animal is a cross between several purebred breeds, namely the Pomeranian and Chihuahua. The animal quickly gained popularity and spread quite widely, because it has an aesthetically pleasing appearance and a playful character.

Description

The very name of the Pomchi breed originated, like the animal, from the crossing of the names of its parent breeds: Chihuahua and Pomeranian (the first syllables are taken). Despite the fact that the rush was originally considered as a cross between dogs, since 1998 it has been considered to be an independent breed. In addition, certain standards have been adopted for this animal.

For example, the growth of an adult is rather small and usually does not exceed 23 centimeters. Weight can range from 2 to 5.5 kilograms. In appearance, the four-legged pet resembles a Chihuahua, but with longer hair and a neat muzzle. The head of the animal has a rounded shape, the eyes are quite large in size and are most often painted in dark shades, but the color of the nose largely depends on the general color of the animal. The tail is strongly curled and even curved towards the back.

This crossed mestizo can have several color options. Moreover, the color can be either uniform or spotted. The most common colors include white, black, gray, and reddish brown. The dog's coat itself is quite thick and has an undercoat.

Four-legged pets live for a relatively long time. So, it has been scientifically proven that the life expectancy of the rush is from 12 to 18 years.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pomchi, like any other four-legged pet, has its own characteristics and specific features. Before you start an animal at home, you should get acquainted with its advantages and disadvantages. So, to the pluses of the animal, veterinarians, scientists, as well as experienced breeders include the following characteristics:

  • the small size of the rush, thanks to which the animal can be kept even in a small apartment;
  • high intellectual abilities;
  • easy and fast learning process;
  • contact and friendliness to people (even to children);
  • playful character;
  • dedication and loyalty.

At the same time, it is worth remembering that not only positive traits characterize this breed of dog. The negative aspects include:

  • difficulties during pregnancy and childbirth;
  • the tendency of puppies to some types of diseases;
  • molting;
  • jealousy.

Care rules

To begin with, it should be remembered that the rules of care are more related to the physiological characteristics of the animal, as well as to its appearance. For example, the rush needs regular and thorough brushing due to the fact that it has a fairly thick and long coat.

Combing should be especially frequent during the shedding period (once a day). The physiological characteristics of a pet include the fact that its eyes are quite watery, therefore they need to be wiped with a cotton pad dipped in warm water.

Specially formulated eye drops can also be purchased after consulting your veterinarian.

Representatives of the Pomchi breed rather poorly tolerate unfavorable climatic conditions, bad weather and low temperatures. That is why (especially if you live in the northern regions) for the winter, animals should buy clothing. Dogs also do not tolerate heat well; therefore, they should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight.

Pomchi is a breed that does not need high activity or great physical exertion, so you should not walk your pets for a long time.

The diet of the animal deserves special attention. First of all, it should be balanced and complex, as well as saturated with all microelements, vitamins and other useful chemicals necessary for the normal functioning of the animal's body. The choice between dry food or natural food is up to the owner.

The main thing to consider is that the food is of good quality and the food is fresh. It is not worth saving on the health of your pet. Choose only luxury brands of dry food and in no case feed the rush with scraps from the master's table.

In addition to the composition of the food, it is important to pay attention to the amount of food that you give to the animal. The thing is, dogs are prone to obesity, so large portions can harm them. You should also draw up and constantly follow a meal schedule. It is believed that an adult of this breed should eat 2 times a day and at the same time.

Do not forget to provide the animal with free access to water.

Health

In general, rush is a breed of dog, which is characterized by a fairly high level of health. Nevertheless, there are some disadvantages in this respect. It is worth considering that the health indicators of an animal largely depend on the parents. In this respect, the principle of heredity is quite clearly manifested.

If we talk about ailments that can manifest themselves, then these include susceptibility to food allergies, dental diseases, weather dependence and susceptibility to injury. In this regard, special attention must be paid to some aspects related to the care and maintenance of the animal.

Owners should rather seriously and carefully approach the issue of drawing up the diet of the animal.The dog should be handled quite carefully, it should be provided with the most comfortable living conditions in order to protect it from any bodily injury.

Dental treatment is a rather lengthy and complicated process. And since this part of the body is more susceptible to the emergence of various ailments than others, then caring for it, and accordingly, and disease prevention needs additional attention.

So, it is necessary to carry out regular and systematic examinations of the oral cavity. When the first signs of tartar appear, you should contact your veterinarian, otherwise the dog may lose its teeth. As for meteorological dependence, you cannot independently influence this ailment. However, one way or another, it should be borne in mind that when the weather changes, your pet may experience mood changes.

Among other things, it is worth considering that rush, like any other pet, needs preventive examinations by a veterinarian, which should be carried out at least once every 6 months.

Do not forget to get the animal the necessary vaccinations.

On the other hand, it is noted that such animals are quite loyal and loyal, therefore they live well in families with children.

The dog has a playful and energetic disposition, therefore it needs the increased attention of the owner. Thus, people who already own the rush warn future owners that it will take a lot of time to raise and maintain a pet, so it is worthwhile to evaluate your strengths and capabilities in advance.
