The owners try to choose the best for their pets: food, care products, toys and other accessories. The surest way to please both a small puppy and an already adult dog is to give him the treat that he loves the most. Most dogs will never give up on cookies, especially if they are made especially for them.

Requirements

To make cookies really useful, it must comply with specially formulated nutritional standards recommended specifically for dogs.

  • To begin with, you should understand that it is wise to pamper your pet with tasty things. Even if he deserves them, the cookies need to be dispensed in doses. Its share should not be more than a tenth of the daily diet.
  • Any food for dogs should be free of sugar and salt. The same rule applies to strong spices. For taste, garlic or honey is allowed in a small amount.
  • For the manufacture of delicacies, you can use a variety of meat: pork, beef, rabbit, chicken, turkey, fish. You can add cereals, cheese or cottage cheese to it. And in order for the food to be dietary and varied, you should use vegetables and some fruits.
  • Cookies can have absolutely any shape. You can spread the batter with a spoon, while the denser dough can be cut into pieces and rolled into balls. There are curly thematic shapes, among them the most popular are bones.
  • As a rule, solid products can be stored longer - this is due to prolonged drying at a rather high temperature. It is more convenient to eat or divide soft and crumbly biscuits.
  • For older dogs and small breeds, the size should be appropriate.If there are no health problems, you can give rather large biscuits (first of all, this concerns the condition of the teeth and digestive organs).

When to give?

Most often, treats are given as a reward in training or learning.

In this case, cookies are ideal because they are lightweight, do not get your hands dirty and can always be at hand - in your pocket or special purse.

In addition, treats can be given in the following cases:

  • if the pet needs to be distracted;
  • to massage the gums when puppies are teething;
  • to maintain dental health;
  • to improve the dog's body (thanks to useful supplements and vitamins);
  • if emotional attachment is needed.

Avoid substituting cookies for a full meal, especially if your dog is overweight. Also, do not give your pet treats too often. After all, this is how unhealthy eating habits are instilled in the dog. In addition, in the future they cannot be used for training - the puppy simply will not try.

If your pet has already figured out the reward strategy and is trying to beg for an extra portion, do not follow the lead.

The system of raising animals must be clear and consistent. In everything, one should adhere to measures, it will be much more difficult to wean a spoiled animal from constant handouts.

Features of home and store cookies

Often, when choosing between home-made cookies and treats purchased at the pet store, preference is given to purchased ones. And this is not surprising, since they have a number of obvious advantages:

  • convenience and saving of time that needs to be spent on cooking;
  • attractive packaging;
  • pleasant appearance of the products themselves;
  • detailed information on the composition and properties on the package.

Most often, buyers trust advertisements or hope that such products pass quality control. In fact, this is far from the case.

The manufacturer can use the products specified in the composition, but their quality will be low.

In addition, many additives are often present in pet treats. At best, these will be vitamins and minerals that will help the dog develop and keep it active. At worst, preservatives and flavor-enhancing additives. Animals cannot always recognize a poor-quality product, so this task falls on the shoulders of their owners.... In addition, you should be careful about the shelf life of the product and the compliance with the storage conditions stated on the package.

Homemade cookies have other, no less valuable, advantages:

  • confidence in quality, since all products were bought personally and the recipe was followed;
  • favorable price - the cost of homemade cookies is several times less;
  • variability: the ability to change recipes, add ingredients.

For example, during illness, you can add ingredients that can strengthen the immune system.

In addition, the owner is well aware of the preferences of his pet and therefore can remove unnecessary components.

The best DIY recipes

In fact, making homemade dog biscuits is not difficult, especially if you follow a tried and tested recipe and follow all the recommendations carefully. And even if not everything worked out the first time, there is no need to give up. After all, the reward will be the satisfied look of your dog.

The classic version of dog biscuits is with liver (beef, pork or chicken).

A pound of offal will require a small carrot and onion, 1 egg, 2 cloves of garlic and about 1 glass of flour. The dough is made quite simply.

  1. All ingredients are ground in a blender and mixed until smooth. Thickness should be similar to pancake dough. If it turns out a little thinner, add flour, and if the dough is thick, add a drop of water.
  2. Cover a wide baking sheet with parchment paper, grease with oil and pour out the mass. We send to bake for about half an hour.Make sure that the formation does not become too stiff.
  3. Then you need to take it out, and while hot, cut it into pieces of the desired size. After cooling completely, the treat can be transferred to a plastic container.

By the same principle, cookies are prepared from any type of lean meat.

Such delicacies take a long time to bake. In order for the products to bake more evenly, in the middle of the process they need to be turned over to the other side.

In order not to grease the baking sheet and not add extra calories, it is better to cover the baking sheet with parchment.

Almost all four-legged pets love fish in any form, so you should definitely try to make cookies from it. This will require:

  • 500 g fillet of any fish without bones (you can take canned fish);
  • 200 g carrots;
  • 1 cup flour;
  • 1-2 eggs.

Consider the technology of the preparation itself.

  1. Chop the fish fillet. Boiling it beforehand will shorten the baking time.
  2. Carrots need to be grated or chopped in a blender. Instead, you can take any other vegetables: pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower and white cabbage, zucchini.
  3. Then all the ingredients (minced fish, carrots, egg and flour) are mixed. Flour should be added gradually - until the dough becomes dense enough and does not stick to your hands.
  4. The dough can be rolled into a layer and cut out cookies with cookie cutters, as well as rolled into a sausage and cut into circles. Another option is to make thin sausages and roll them into small rings.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

Dog biscuits don't have to be meat. Oat biscuits are an excellent alternative here. Their recipe is pretty simple:

  • 1 cup each oatmeal (preferably finely ground) and flour;
  • 1 apple;
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of honey;
  • a glass of water (depending on the flour and cereals, you may need a little more or less of it).

Mix the oatmeal and flour, add a grated or finely chopped apple to them.

It is better to dissolve honey in a little water, so it mixes more evenly.

    Then add water to the mixture. The dough is kneaded thoroughly and a cookie is formed. If the mass is too liquid, you can spread it on a baking sheet with a spoon. For a change, you can include cottage cheese, cheese, or eggs as ingredients. Dried fruits will help to add a sweet taste - any dog will definitely like this dessert.
