A bedroom, the area of which does not exceed 8 square meters, is quite common in Russian houses. Its design sometimes turns out to be a difficult task, since the small footage does not even allow to place the bed normally. That's why Thinking through the project, it is necessary to choose the right colors, style, light, furniture forms in order to visually enlarge the space.

Features of the layout

A bedroom with an area of 7-8 sq. m, quite often found in the "Khrushchev", and sometimes after redevelopment, it even remains without a window. It happens that the owners of a space of 2 by 4 meters should have a full-fledged bedroom-living room in limited conditions.

When the bedroom serves only as a resting place, most often the bed is placed with the headboard either by the window or against a long wall. The empty space is filled with storage furniture.

The bedroom-living room requires replacing the bed with a fold-out sofa, and then the furniture is placed depending on the shape of the room.

Suitable shades

For a small bedroom, light shades are more suitable, adding air to the space. In general, bright gloss should not be used in the bedroom, since it does not meet the main task - to create a space of calm and relaxation. In order not to be mistaken and in the future to be able to change the style of the room without a full renovation, it is better to choose white or pastel shades: pistachio, mint, pale blue, soft lemon or pink.

Style solutions

A bedroom with an area not exceeding 8 square meters creates certain restrictions when choosing a style.Preference should be given to those that do not require a lot of details, variegated patterns and bright colors.

The easiest way is to decorate a room in such a modern style as minimalism... It requires calm shades, strict forms and the absence of excessive decor. As a rule, black, gray and white colors are used for decoration. The necessary accents are set using small elements of a darker shade. The bed is chosen low.

Modern gives you the opportunity to play more with color and show your imagination. For example, it is allowed to equip the door with a stained-glass window, and choose more intricate lamps. Again, textiles allow you to use more interesting shades, for example, lilac interspersed with pearl gray.

For bedroom in classic style wooden furniture, use of wall mirrors and floral elements in the decor are suitable.

Japanese style close to minimalism, but characterized by some peculiarities. For example, in such a bedroom you cannot do without a neat indoor bonsai, curtains devoid of frills, as well as a screen.

Finishing

The design of the ceiling, floor and walls in a small bedroom plays a very important role, because by choosing the right shades and materials, it will be possible to visually add square meters and correct irregular shapes.

Floor

To decorate the floor of a bedroom with an area of 7-8 square meters, laminate or parquet is most suitable. Separate parts should be laid diagonally - this layout expands the room. The color can be any, but always darker than the walls and ceiling... Besides, it should match the rest of the room.

If you want to add a rug as a decor, then it is important to choose either a monochromatic version, or with clear geometric patterns.

Ceiling

The easiest way is to paint the ceiling of a 7-meter bedroom with white paint or cover it with plaster of the same shade. Any pastel shade will also work. The main thing is not to overuse decor and volumetric elements, and also not to use a multi-level system. Nowadays, a stretch ceiling with a matte or glossy finish is quite often chosen. This surface design option for a miniature room will be successful.

Walls

For wall covering, wallpaper, paint or decorative plaster are most often chosen. Regardless of the material, they should be light to create the desired visual effect. It is better to choose warm shades that create the atmosphere of calmness and relaxation necessary for the bedroom. Beige, cream, peach or ivory are considered optimal. It is not forbidden to decorate one of the sides with wallpaper with geometric or floral patterns in calm tones.

Such a solution can even increase the size of the room, for example, if the choice is made in favor of horizontal stripes. All others are best left unicolored. The "main" wall, which is painted either in a contrasting or bright color, is the one located behind the head of the bed.

Quite often, they are used to decorate miniature bedrooms photowall-paper. The image should visually work to expand the space, for example, blooming fields, a seascape, a terrace, behind which the city stretches. It is also important that the wallpaper matches the general style of the room and the color palette.

Selection and placement of furniture

A small room with an area of 7.5 sq. m allows you to use only multifunctional and fairly compact furniture. As a rule, for such a bedroom, a bed of a suitable size, a spacious but not bulky wardrobe, as well as miniature nightstands are enough. You should not add those items that are generally not used in the bedroom, or those that you can do without. The cabinet should be chosen such a model that has a depth of 35 to 40 centimeters. They are not very deep, but they allow you to place all the necessary personal items.

The use of a wardrobe with mirrors is encouraged, again meeting the main goal - expansion of space.

A built-in wardrobe with glass or glossy facades will look good.

It is better to choose a simple bed without protruding details or excessive decor. Models equipped with drawers in which you can store bed linen, towels or personal belongings are considered successful. When placing a bed in a room, you should try to leave enough free space for its use, including pulling out the drawers. A good solution would be a model with a lifting mechanism that opens up storage space.

Bedside tables should be better chosen those that will be combined with the bed. For a small bedroom, light and simple models are more suitable, for example, in the form of tables on one leg or stools with an additional shelf. Hanging cabinets look interesting, as well as hinged shelves mounted directly above the head of the bed. They create additional storage space, look interesting, but do not overload the space.

If possible, the cabinet should be placed in the corner.... If there is not enough space for a full-fledged piece of furniture, then you should give preference to a chest of drawers and supplement it with a mobile hanger. It makes sense to also consider the idea of a high shelving unit. In the case when it is impossible to install two bedside tables, you need to put either one, or, in general, abandon the idea, limiting yourself to a dressing table.

Organization of lighting

Lighting in a small room can radically transform a room. It is optimal to place a nice, but not very large lamp in the center, and put table lamps on the bedside tables next to the bed or hang lamps next to it. The stylistics of the selected models should create the effect of lightness and comfort... Stretch ceiling can be equipped with spotlights.

Textiles and decor elements

The main thing is not to overload the interior with a large number of things in a small room. Rest is impossible in a cluttered room: for example, if you force the bedside space with boxes with things, then your eyes will constantly bump into them, and your mood will deteriorate. From the decor it is best to choose paintings, photographs and a variety of textiles. Photos will look good if you organize them in the form of a thoughtful collage, and choose something abstract in a laconic frame as a picture.

From textiles, pillows, bedspreads and window curtains are indispensable. It is better to choose a color palette warm or neutral. Monochrome objects and patterns are appropriate, but in both cases it is important to either combine them with the overall design of the space, or create an appropriate contrast.

Light translucent tulle or dense monochromatic curtains made of natural materials should be hung on the windows.

Interesting examples

When the apartment has only 8 square meters for the bedroom, this does not mean at all that its design will be boring... The room looks beautiful and unusual, the central object of which is the bed, looking straight out the window. The use of white for the walls, as well as pastel colors for the floor and the bed itself, allows you to add contrasting accents as decorative elements.

In this case, tricolor curtains that combine white, gray and yellow, as well as several yellow pillows, become a bright spot. The rest of the decor is a series of black and white photographs of different sizes, asymmetrically positioned on the walls. The remaining space is occupied by storage spaces.

White and other pastel shades are also used for the decoration and furniture of the other bedroom. The furniture, by the way, looks extremely laconic - a rectangular bedside table, a couple of the same shelves and a small hanging cabinet. On the floor, there is a calm striped rug in natural shades, echoing bed linen, plants and some decorative elements. For lighting, a ceiling lamp, a table lamp and a headboard lighting are used.

Creating a bedroom-living room with a limited footage is a very difficult task, but it can be solved with high ceilings. In this case, the bed has been tucked into the ceiling, resulting in storage space for clothes and a reading area at the bottom. Opposite there is a sofa in a calm blue hue. White is used as a base color, in some places supplemented with black stripes. Few décor is available in blue and green.
