When arranging furniture, the corners are often empty. When the area of the room is already small, this significantly reduces ergonomics. If you have a corner wardrobe, it will be possible to rationally use any inconvenient areas in the bedroom.

Advantages and disadvantages

Corner wardrobes have a number of advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages are the following.

  • Roominess. Cabinets differ from classic ones in their modest external dimensions, but roomy internal parameters.
  • The possibility of using empty square meters. Corner furniture allows you to create the perfect composition.
  • The ability to create any style. To do this, it is enough to choose suitable facades and fittings.
  • Ease of use. Corner wardrobes can be installed close to other furniture, the door leaf is simply and easily moved back.
  • The compartment doors are not only compact, but also quiet, which is very important for bedrooms.

The main disadvantage of corner cabinets is their high cost, especially when compared with traditional models.

Pricing is related to the materials used in production.

Corner cabinets are convenient not only for a small room, but also for non-standard rooms. The cabinet of the original shape will be appropriate even in the wrong corner of the apartment. Sellers offer products of any shape: sharp, straight, rounded, in the form of a trapezoid. The object can become not just a place for storing things, but the central point of the entire interior.For example, rounded options, which are offered today in a wide variety, look very interesting.

The main types of corner cabinets are divided into built-in and cabinet. Some of the details of the first option are the walls, floor, ceiling of the room in which this furniture is built. The main element of such cabinets is doors, but in order for them to last a long time, it is worth paying more attention to the alignment of the surfaces of the floor, walls, and ceiling. If this moment is missed, the doors will eventually become twisted.

Built-in furniture best suits the parameters of a particular room. Instances are great space savers. They are stable and cheaper. The built-in wardrobe cannot be moved around the room.

At the installation site, fasteners remain, which will be unsightly without the main facade. Installation work is difficult to carry out on your own, especially if you plan to create an entire dressing room.

Cabinet furniture - ready-to-install products. All the elements, including the side walls, the back panel and the bottom, are here. Furniture can be installed anywhere in the room, and can also be moved. Such specimens require more space, and their capacity is less impressive.

Wall cabinets will help to rationally exploit the corners of rooms. The shape of these cabinets is varied, so they perfectly complement other interior items. There are also floor-standing corner designs that fit easily into any space. Distinguish between open or closed products. The radial floor cabinet can be placed on the floor with its entire surface or installed on special legs.

Materials (edit)

Corner furniture is made from traditional materials - wood, MDF, chipboard. For corner sets, slabs are used, less often an array. These products are expensive and are made according to individual orders. Recently, particle board has become widespread. It is an imitation of such species as wenge, mahogany, mahogany, ebony. Nowadays, cabinets with a glossy or matte surface, with facades made of plastic, on which photo printing, various patterns are applied, are popular.

For corner cabinets of factory production, MDF is often used. The material is flexible and can be painted or laminated with foil.

However, chipboard boards are considered the most practical and durable, which come in different thicknesses, but have better resistance to mechanical stress.

When planning a wardrobe, special attention should be paid to sliding doors. They are selected in accordance with the design of the room. The most popular are mirrored facades. A transparent mirror visually affects the space of a room, expanding it, and frosted glass is able to perfectly emphasize the overall color scheme of the room.

Shapes and sizes

Cabinet dimensions are an important parameter when choosing a finished product. Usually they are standard, but if the furniture is made to order, the product may differ in specific dimensions.

For example, for a bedroom of the correct shape, you can choose a triangular wardrobe with standard sides from 1.2 meters... Constructions with slightly smaller edges are considered non-functional and not three-dimensional. A small wardrobe is only suitable for a child's room. Products with sides up to 1.5 meters can be extremely bulky. The depth of standard corner cabinets ranges from 0.4 to 0.6 meters.

In addition to triangular, trapezoidal, diagonal, radius, almost round cabinet are considered standard. The first option differs in different sizes of the walls, one of which is 1.2 m, and the second is 0.8 m.

The design is very capacious, suitable even for the smallest bedrooms. The trapezoidal wardrobe looks laconic and unusually interesting.

The diagonal semicircular wardrobe differs in shape, its sides are not the same. The model is suitable for rooms with 2-3 windows or non-standard doorways.The minimum value of the width along the sidewalls varies from 0.7 meters, and the maximum value is 2.4 meters. The depth of the product can be from 0.5 to 0.7 meters, and the height - from 1.7 to 2.5 meters.

A semicircular modern radius wardrobe is characterized by a greater capacity with relatively identical dimensions in comparison with other forms. The standard dimensions of the radius model vary: from 1.8 to 2.4 m - width, from 85 cm to 1 meter - depth.

Radius models require more space due to the design of the doors, so models are not recommended for narrow spaces. The price for such products is slightly higher than for trapezoidal or diagonal models.

Not all rooms correspond to standard dimensions, therefore factories offer cabinet models of appropriate parameters. Non-standard products are often made to order, but customer measurements can be adjusted. For example, a wardrobe depth of 0.35 meters is considered acceptable, and products with smaller parameters will be considered not very functional. The maximum recommended depth is 0.9 meters. With large dimensions, it will be difficult to find your things inside the cabinet and you will need a well-thought-out storage system. There is no height limit only. This parameter can be non-standard and of any value.

Color spectrum

Natural wood has a rich palette of colors. The main options are divided into cold shades, warm tones and medium tones. The color scheme of the finished product is always related to the preferences of the customer, who focuses on the color combination in the interior, as well as many other factors.

Dark tones always add conservatism and respectability to the bedroom. These are the colors:

  • nut;
  • wenge;
  • Red tree;
  • ebony.

For this palette, it is important to choose the right decor for the room itself.

Light or white furniture colors are considered more natural, suitable for modern interiors. Most popular light shades:

  • Karelian birch;
  • ash;
  • Pine;
  • beech.

    Modern bedrooms suggest the use of a variety of other facades:

    • maple;
    • pear;
    • apple tree;
    • acacia.

    Intermediate monochromatic shades are suitable for creating compositions. For example, cherry is characterized by a rich reddish color, while alder has a deeper reddish tone.

    Oak wood is prized for the beauty of its texture.

    Contemporary bedrooms are dominated by colorful furnishings. In this case, the surface of the facade presupposes the choice of the desired visual composition, which affects the perception of objects. For example, professionals recommend facades with horizontal patterns on the surface for narrow rooms. Modern collections imitate not only expensive wood, but also foundations such as leather or marble.

    Filling options

    The design of the interior of the cabinet is an important step if the product is custom made. It is important to take into account the number and type of clothing that is planned for placement. The filling of standard cabinets does not differ in individuality and usually includes:

    • hangers and crossbars;
    • shelves and drawers;
    • compact storage devices.

    Modern filling options involve both parallel and perpendicular placement of shoulders and crossbars.

    The first option is considered more convenient, so you can see all things at once. With this arrangement, the depth of the cabinet cannot be less than 60 cm (the size of the hanger).

    In the second variant of placement, the structure may be shallower - 40-45 cm, but in this variant only the first item of all placed on the hangers will be visible. For ease of use, specialists today use special sliding structures.

    Shelves and drawers are an important component of any furniture; you cannot do without them in a closet. They are different in depth and height, it all depends on the things that are planned to be laid on them.In the modern version of filling, mesh shelves are often included, on which all things are visible. Mesh drawers are often made to be pull-out, which undoubtedly adds to the convenience.

    Compact storage devices are usually located at the bottom of the closet and involve the placement of shoes. In the shoe rack, the models are stacked obliquely, which gives a good overview.

    Another device is the trouser, which solves the problem of storing trousers. These are special pull-out strips that are usually located at the waist level. Another tool is indispensable if you have a large number of ties and belts. The device is also suitable for storing scarves. Outwardly, it resembles a trouser, only it is smaller.

    How to choose?

    Sliding doors are an important part of the wardrobe. For their installation, wheels, runners or rails are used. Thanks to them, the structure slides easily without cluttering up the space. Sliding door options:

    • suspended;
    • frame;
    • coplanar;
    • with overhead profile.

    The first option is the simplest, most inexpensive and popular. The parts of the main system are suspended from the ceiling, and a rail is mounted at the bottom. Such door structures must be installed on a perfectly level surface. Otherwise, the canvas will bend, get stuck, which will cause inconvenience.

    Frame sliding doors are less susceptible to sagging, as they have an additional vertical profile.

    The deformation of the system is prevented by a special stopper. It negates the consequences of careless use.

    The version with the cover profile has been specially designed to prevent bending. The system really looks more reliable, but its weight increases significantly. The main roller system has been moved down here, but the rollers from the top have not disappeared either. They still have a supporting function. Doors of this design can easily twist due to the smallest obstacle.

    Coplanar doors are a one-piece facade, in which the leaves do not go over each other, but are an integral system. It can be mounted on a monorail, and its appearance can be changed every time you change position. Thanks to special door closers, sliding of such doors is smooth. Modern devices provide soft and easy opening.

    Care Tips

    It is not difficult to take care of a corner wardrobe, the main thing is to take into account several nuances. For example, if chipboard or MDF is used as the main material, the panels cannot be treated with water. The use of suitable chemicals and soft rags is allowed.

    Particular attention should be paid to plain laminated chipboard, as these boards require more careful maintenance and the use of microfiber rags. When leaving, keep in mind that glossy panels are easily scratched. For processing such facades, it is advisable to use special polishes. Special products should also be used for cabinets with mirrors.

    An aluminum profile, often mounted as a frame for facades, is covered with a special film. It can be washed with a damp cloth, and old stains can be easily removed with alcohol.

    but if the profile is varnished, then alcohol will be harmful to such a surface.

    Care of the sliding system consists in thorough cleaning of parts from dust and debris. For these purposes, you can use a vacuum cleaner. We do not recommend washing powders or alkaline solvents for cleaning the facade. With the timely elimination of dirt and careful use of the sliding mechanism, the corner wardrobe will not lose its original appearance for decades.
