Pop art style in clothing is a trend that is becoming a classic. Clothes with crazy patterns and flashy colors, actively flashing in commercials, have become a trend among the younger generation. The bright frenzy created by the designers is worn with pleasure by shocking celebrities, for example, Katy Perry, Riana, Miley Cyrus.

History

The direction arose in the 60s thanks to the cult personality of Andy Warhol. It was he who painted the legendary portrait of Marilyn Monroe using the silk-screening technique. Then he created sketches of extraordinary clothes and opened a boutique called Parafenalia. There fashionistas could buy shocking outfits with bright prints. They were decorated with plastic, metal fittings and paper.

In 1965, paintings by Picasso, Matisse, Mondrian and Warhol inspired Yves Saint Laurent. Straight dresses became the canvas on which many of these artists' works were depicted. The new collection was named Mondrian Look.

This trend was further taken up by Versace and Franco Moschino, creating collections from improvised means (caps, corset pins, jewelry nails).

Features and characteristics

Modern pop-art is a great opportunity to stand out from the gray mass, create a positive mood for yourself and those around you.

How can I do this?

  • It is enough to buy a T-shirt or T-shirt with comics, monochrome prints or 3D images and combine it with leggings or jeans, pencil skirts.
  • Original blouses, sweaters, sweatshirts and hoodies look perfect with a solid bottom.
  • The skirt and trousers can also be decorated with a bright print. This also applies to shoes (sneakers, tractor-soled shoes, boots) and handbags.
  • Printed dresses can be complemented with leggings.
  • Glasses and irregularly shaped jewelry in the form of berries and fruits, hearts or lips are welcome.
  • Outerwear is also no exception.Funny faces or original geometry will show you as a boring and self-deprecating person.

Fabric and color

Pop art items are made from a wide variety of fabrics. It does not really matter - it will be viscose, organza, wool, linen or cotton, leather or fur.

The highlight of this trend is precisely the colors and patterns that are intended to shock and make the image shocking. The favorites are blood red, bright blue, acid colors (yellow and green), neon colors (for example, lilac). The colorfulness should reach 100%, and the emotions should go off scale.

As before, pictures of artists on clothes, portraits of world stars, film or cartoon characters, fruits, vegetables, animals attract the attention. Geometry and abstraction are also popular.

Brands

In the collections of fashion houses Chanel, Valentino, Moschino, Lanvin, Max Mara, Armani, Anna Dello Russo, you can often see painted items in the pop art style.

Create an image

Fashion experts recommend remembering some of the nuances when creating an ensemble in an artistic style:

  • Use bright and recognizable pop art details. It can be a bag in the form of scarlet lips and with a protruding tongue. Maybe a denim jacket with a huge inscription "BOOM!" Skirts or sweatshirts with a portrait of famous personalities are fashionable now. Just remember that the street is not a catwalk, which means that a couple of bright details are enough for an everyday look.
  • Balance. This style is ideally combined with denim and sportswear. For example, stylish sneakers, regular college T-shirts, jeans shirt.
  • Remember propriety. Are you going to go to the cinema with your whole family, or go for a walk with friends, or maybe you are going to a fun picnic: not boring printed things will come in handy. But for the office and a romantic date, these clothes are absolutely not suitable. At best, you will be considered an extravagant person.
  • Consider your age. Things with SpongeBob eyes will delight teenagers. Cartoon heroes on T-shirts, sports shoes and caps, pants and skirts will give the children a sea of vivid emotions. Those over 30 can also amuse themselves. Only one extravagant thing should be present in the image. For example, a plain dress will complement a clutch with a portrait of a celebrity. For ladies over 50, a portrait of the president on a T-shirt is suitable, but bunnies and cute dogs are no longer worth thinking about.
