More recently, Italian fashion house Fendi breathed new life into its own invention, re-releasing the legendary Baguette bag. Over the years, the iconic baguette bag has evolved into an accessory classic and has even become one of the most valuable collectibles. And today this fashionable bag looks no less fresh and stylish as it did at the end of the last century.

What it is?

In the fashion industry, this is exactly the case when the author is known. This is Silvia Venturini-Fendi, who is the granddaughter of the creator of TM Fendi, who developed this handbag back in 1997., then she entered the stores.

Why Bagguette-bag? First of all, this name contains a hint of an elongated shape, as well as the fact that it will be convenient to hold it under the arm, as, however, a real French crispy baguette, and it is also a diminutive form from the concept denoting a bag - bag.

By the way, it was originally invented as an alternative to not very comfortable clutches that had to be carried in hands. And it arose in opposition to the clutch, or rather, as its development, continuation and improvement, making the handbag more comfortable to wear, attaching a handle.

One of the heroines of the movie "Sex and the City" by Carrie Bradshaw also worked on the popularity of the baguette bag. With a Fendi baguette on the screen, she appeared many times, thereby involuntarily urging all fans to run to the brand boutique for the same one.

Then the handbag became so popular that almost all the beauties could not imagine themselves without it.

You can even say that the baguette simply owes such popularity to this heroine and Sarah Jessica Parker personally, who also loved the Baguette bag, often appearing with it at such important events as the red carpet, for example.

She even repeated that it was the Fendi baguette that became the style-forming and important detail of her image as an actress and a woman.

It is not surprising that this model has gained immense popularity, and so quickly and to such a level that in the very first year of the millennium TM Fendi was awarded an award from Fashion Group International in the nomination "Design of accessories" for the creation of this model of the bag. So this little detail entered the history of fashion and became one of those items that were the most iconic accessories of the 90s of the last century.

And in 2012, the brand even dedicated an entire colorful edition to the baguette bag. The book contains over 250 beautiful color photographs, which are demonstrated by the most diverse versions of the bag. Among them are luxury models made of crocodile skin, fur, as well as other most valuable materials, among them there are even real works of art - an accessory decorated with precious stones.

There are also design options from renowned artists and designers such as Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.

This once again proves the well-known fact that the baguette bag has long been transformed from a must-have item into a cultural phenomenon.

What is this baguette bag? Here are a few features that distinguish it from other models:

  • elongated shape;
  • not very large;
  • wide, short handle;
  • fixation under the armpit or in the hand;
  • interesting design.

Design

Appearing in the 90s, this women's handbag made a whole revolution. After all, then there was a craze for minimalism, and bright bags decorated with embroidery, original prints, even feathers, a chain, embroidered with beads, rhinestones and beads, mirror pieces, that is, these items, differing in design, other than strict, stood out strongly against the background of the general trend in the fashion of the time.

If you look at it, the bag is already quite old by fashionable standards. And all these 18 years, the rectangular accessory remains a bestseller, and the varieties of the iconic bag are only growing. Today there are over a thousand such variations.

The color of the baguette bag can be absolutely any. But this season, dark green shades, burgundy, deep blue colors are especially popular. And, of course, the wardrobe should be white and black.

By the way, such accessories were quite popular in the 90s, so feel free to go to second-hand for them.

Brands

Fendi presented the updated line of baguette bags in several sizes at once, with a variety of finishes. But there are also classic models in pastel shades of embossed leather. Despite the fact that the proportions have been slightly changed, the baguette bag is still the same popular and recognizable accessory that everyone was in love with in the 1990s.

And today, almost all eminent brands did not stand aside and presented many of their versions of this legendary bag. Italian TM Prada, similarly to Fendi, returned baguettes to their new collections; stylists recommend choosing them not only for the summer and spring seasons, but also for warm autumn days.

By the way, this bag can also be seen in men's collections. So, there are both classic leather monophonic options, and the most daring versions with art prints.

As for the girls, everything is authentic here, many baguette models are decorated, as in the 90s, with beaded fringes and logos.

Other designers followed, so you can find similar handbags at Mango, Chloe, Lieffler Randall, Vendetta and others.

Couturiers have always developed many different designs and shapes of bags, but today rectangular narrow designs on a short strap have become the most popular.

Inspired by colleagues, the Spanish company Loewe created its own version of the baguette. Her version of the accessory has an asymmetrical shape and is made of leather pieces. And just in case, a long shoulder strap has been added here.

What to wear with?

A big plus of the Baguette handbag is its versatility. The accessory fits into a variety of looks: both street and office, sports and even concert and evening. This handbag was invented as a counterbalance to the uncomfortable clutches that had to be carried in the hands. Hence the use in the same situations.

These are classic versions of leather bags, and, for example, fabrics such as nylon. A baguette bag will be an excellent completion of both a sporty look and an evening one.

  • A black baguette bag will go with any look. Looks especially organic in an ensemble with a beige trench coat.
  • Natural colors have always been in vogue. This ensemble can be attributed to both business and smart style. There is nothing provocative here, and the handbag in natural leather shades fits perfectly into a neat and sophisticated image, where there is nothing superfluous.
  • Black and white are classics. And here a black baguette bag with a white dress not only does not contradict it - it adds graphicity to the image. And due to its size it does not make it heavier at all.
  • And here is the sports version of the baguette. Yes, such a soft baguette bag can be worn like that, and it will be comfortable, fashionable and stylish.
  • The baguette does not have to be rectangular. This slightly reshaped chunky handbag fits perfectly into a fall look with a padded coat.

By the way, this baguette-shaped handbag is one of the favorite bags of many stars such as Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hayley Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Culpo.
