A bag is not only a beautiful accessory that allows you to stand out from the crowd, but also a necessary part of everyday life. For modern fashionistas, functionality is important, combined with beauty, so that one product can be used in images of several stylistic directions at once. All of these important criteria are successfully combined in a tote bag.

Features of the model

Tote bag or, as it is simply called "tote" ("that") - a large bag with two handles without a fastener on the top and with a single compartment. This is what a classic model looks like, which designers revise from season to season and make it even more comfortable or original. The name was formed thanks to the English verb "to tote", which translates as "transfer".

Literally, this product can be called a "carrying bag".

The very first models, which appeared three hundred years ago, were ordinary canvas bags for going to the market. The name came into use in haute couture only at the beginning of the twentieth century, when the bag took on a classic look - a roomy rectangular shape, short handles. The popularization of the model took place during the heyday of feminism, when women needed not only to go shopping, but also to join the business life.

The most popular is the rectangular shape, as it meets the first important criterion - spaciousness. Other geometric shapes are also possible: a square, a trapezoid and, for the most daring, polygons. Hard and soft bags are equally relevant. It all depends on the purposes for which they are purchased, since models without a clear shape can more easily accommodate large items.

The classic version assumes the absence of pockets and fasteners, which is not entirely practical for most active women and safety in a modern city. Today, totes have small pockets inside, designed to separate important documents and items from the general mass of things. Zippers and magnets act as fasteners.

Usually, tots have short handles, however, more and more models with longer or with additional straps appear.

A tote bag is equally well suited for a business woman who needs to carry tablets and folders with documents, and for a mother who collects a lot of children's accessories for a walk. Also, the model is indispensable for shopping, beach vacations and ordinary everyday affairs, because putting on a tote on your shoulder, you can free your hands and not limit yourself in actions.

Materials (edit)

Like most bags, totes are made mainly of leather - natural and artificial. This material is as practical as possible, easy to clean and looks impressive even in the traditional black matte finish. Leather is often subjected to technological processing, creating all sorts of effects on it - aging, varnish sheen, imitation of scales.

Exotic types of material, such as python and crocodile, are not as popular for a daily bag.

Suede is another common leather option. It has a pleasant soft texture and a velvety sheen appearance. Often, several materials are combined in one model at once, making inserts of suede, nubuck or textiles on a leather product.

Textile models with leather bottom and handles are another common option. A coarse fabric is used, such as cotton, canvas, jute.

Color solutions

The most relevant and practical are the basic colors - black, gray and brown. All their shades - from the lightest to the darkest - look equally appropriate in all looks: from business to evening. White color also belongs to them, which, however, is not so common due to the fact that it gets dirty quickly.

No less popular are dark saturated colors, for example, green, blue, burgundy. Depending on the trends, various solutions appear - bright and neon or, conversely, delicate pastel shades.

A combination of several colors is often found on totes, for example, black and white or red and blue. Originality is given by prints or drawings applied to any details. Among the most common patterns are flowers and geometry, and among the latest fashions are full-fledged art paintings.

What to wear with?

Laconic models of totes in basic colors will fit into a business look, consisting of both a strict three-piece suit and a more democratic set of jacket and trousers. Pencil skirts, fitted dresses, and classic pumps from shoes are also suitable.

For a casual look, any model is applicable, depending on the preferences of the owner. However, for those who like to go shopping, voluminous, roomy models are suitable. As for the combinations, there are no restrictions. Combinations with jeans of various models and long summer sundresses look equally stylish.

From shoes, you can safely choose shoes and sandals, ballet flats, sandals, as well as ankle boots, ankle boots.

Small totes, especially with a shoulder strap or textile, can be part of a sports outfit with jeans, sneakers or sneakers.

These bags also fit into the popular boho style, in which you can combine ethnic long skirts with fluffy blouses.

A product made of brown leather will look harmoniously in a country look with classic blue jeans or a fluffy skirt, shirt and boots. For a glamorous trend, you can use skinny pants and jeans, shiny blouses and tops, jackets, or add rock with leather jackets.
