The bride's bouquet is one of the most important and most beautiful attributes of the celebration. Its delivery by the groom symbolizes the confirmation of the very proposal of the hand and heart, which was made long before the wedding day. The bride does not let go of flowers throughout the holiday, and then, according to tradition, throws it to her unmarried girlfriends. However, not everyone wants to part with a floral work of art. To do this, you can make a small backup bouquet of satin ribbons, repeating the original or contrasting with it.

Variety of ideas

There are many different materials for making flower arrangements: thin lace, colored paper, polymer clay and many other options. However, satin ribbons have been and remain the most popular material for a long time. This is due to the fact that dense shiny fabric has many advantages.

  • The material is inexpensive, and at the same time it is durable and capable of not losing its appearance for decades.
  • Outwardly, the satin resembles natural silk, but it keeps its shape better, does not wrinkle and does not accumulate dust.
  • It goes well with various decorative elements such as beads, rhinestones and embroidery. In addition, decorative designs such as Arabic or Slavic designs can also be applied to the ribbons themselves. Flowers from such ribbons will look very original.
  • Artificial flowers will not wither by the end of the holiday, even in the most severe frost or heat. They will not stain the snow-white dress of the bride with pollen or juice and will not harm allergy sufferers.

From ribbons many different colors can be made. For example, classic roses or peonies, multi-colored gerberas, fluffy chrysanthemums and asters or laconic hyacinths will be appropriate. There are many different techniques for making ribbon wedding bouquets.

Kanzashi. Today, kanzashi-style bouquets are the most popular option for a wedding. This technique came from the east - in Japan, such flowers were used to decorate the hairstyles of noble women. The petals of these artificial flowers are so neat that you want to touch them and consider every detail of the bouquet separately.

The execution technique itself is not too complicated, and even a beginner can handle it, but this work is long and very painstaking. Each petal is made from a separate piece of ribbon and only after all the petals are ready, one flower can be collected. The edges of the petals can be either sharp and elongated, or rounded and even widening towards the ends.

Flat flowers. Such ribbon roses are perfect for a bouquet of topiary on a long thin stem. They are made of a long one-piece tape, folded in a certain way and sewn onto a small backing made of burlap, soft felt or even cardboard. Such compositions of ribbons in pastel shades look very gentle and touching in the hands of the bride.

Lush flowers. Lush flowers without individual petals can be made with a single ribbon and thread and a needle. To do this, simply fold the satin fabric lengthwise and sew it with long stitches along the edge. After that, you need to gently pull on the free edge of the thread, collecting the ribbon with beautiful flounces and twisting it in a spiral. For greater structure, you can twist the ribbon along the axis - this will give the flower more density and create a unique pattern.

Fused petals. Bouquets of peonies, collected using melted pieces of satin ribbon, look amazing. This can be done either with an ordinary lighter or with a candle flame or gas stove. The finished petals are collected in a tight or open bud and combined into one large composition. With a certain skill, you can collect artificial bouquets that, even from a distance of two steps, cannot be distinguished from real ones. Moreover, such a bouquet can stand in a vase not for two days, but for several years.

Flowers from thin ribbons. From thin ribbons, the width of which does not exceed a centimeter, you can make lush chrysanthemums or asters. To do this, it is enough to wind a long ribbon around the fingers of the palm, tie in the middle with a small thread or string and cut the loops with scissors. A fluffy ball, pressed on the sides by the same neighbors, looks very much like garden flowers growing in dachas and vegetable gardens. With the right color combination with roses or peonies from large ribbons, even such simple bouquets will become a lovely decoration for the celebration.

Color and texture

In order for a bouquet of artificial flowers to better fit into the format of the celebration, it is necessary to choose the right colors and size of the buds. And in order for the bouquet to go well with the bride's dress, it is necessary to take into account its texture. The more airy and lighter the outfit, the more delicate and miniature the flowers of the bouquet should be.

An excellent solution would be to make it in the shade of a dress or decorative elements. If you want to add brightness to a monochrome outfit, then you need to select ribbons of the same color as the design of the entire event. Most often, 2-3 shades are chosen, in which the decor of the hall is performed and the tables are decorated. If the color scheme of the bouquet matches them, then the whole composition will look more complete and thoughtful.

Most often, pastel and gentle colors are used for wedding decoration. Solo, as usual, white and all its shades. Dilutes the composition with blue, pink, lavender and pistachio. However, if you wish, you can add bright accents in the form of red, purple or bright green.Perhaps it is worth giving up only the black color, which is traditionally considered a shade of mourning, so it has no place at such a joyful event.

Some balance should be observed in the jewelry of the girl herself and her accessories. If the bride's dress and hair sparkle with pearls and stones, you shouldn't decorate the bouquet with them either - it will look pretentious and overloaded. On the contrary, the laconic image is well emphasized by flowers with rhinestones and brooches. In addition, wedding stylists are advised to leave the elongated shape of the bouquet for girls, and for ladies of the age to opt for a spherical shape.

Necessary materials

Of course, each technique will require its own set of tools, as they differ in many ways. Nevertheless, there is a certain basic set, which cannot be dispensed with in any case.

  • A foam ball or microphone with a floral sponge, available from your flower shop. You can replace it with plastic, crumpled and glued newspapers, or a thick rope rolled into a ball.
  • Thick cardboard for the handle. You can take a finished cardboard tube that was left from foil or cling film after using it in the kitchen.
  • Satin ribbons of the required colors and patterns. It is best to take them with a margin to practice making buds. The consumption of the atlas for each technique can be very different.
  • A glue gun that can be purchased at any craft store or ordered online.
  • Stapler, pins, needle, scissors.
  • Threads in the color of ribbons and contrasting shades.
  • Various decorative beads and stones.

To make peonies from melted ribbons or Japanese-style flowers, you will have to additionally install a candle or burner on which the pieces of ribbons will melt. Before starting needlework, you should organize a clean free space. It is best to do this at a work table or counter so that you can leave the unfinished bouquet and return to assembling it a little later.

Step by step manufacturing

Before you start making a satin bouquet, you should study several master classes using the technique that was chosen and practice making the flowers themselves. All the rest of the work does not take much time and is carried out in stages according to a small instruction.

Step 1. Making the base

First of all, a base is prepared on which the buds and decor will be attached. If you bought a ready-made ball made of plastic or foam, then it is simply connected to a long cardboard handle. If you need to make the ball yourself, then you can crumple up several newspaper sheets and wrap them tightly with rope. This homemade ball is also attached to a cardboard handle with a glue gun.

To hide the cardboard tube, it is necessary to wrap it with satin ribbon and carefully glue the ends by wrapping them inside the tube. In order to hide the junction and the not very aesthetic bottom of the foam sphere, a lace or satin "skirt" is glued to the junction with the tube. Most often it is made to match the color of the handle of the bouquet.

Step 2. Making flowers

The easiest way to make beautiful flowers is the volumetric bud technique. To do this, take a wide satin ribbon and fold it in half, face up. With a needle and thread, such a tape is stitched along the edge, after which it is tightened with large assemblies and folded into a small bud. To prevent such a bud from disintegrating, the ribbons are sewn at the base with several stitches.

Step 3. Fixing flowers

In order for the satin bouquet to withstand all the active movements of the bride, her photo session, dance and, finally, the flight into the hands of her friends, the flowers must be well fixed on foam or rope. To do this, a small safety pin with a head color that matches the color of the ribbon is stuck into their core. The sharp edge of the pin, coming out from the seamy side of the bud, is firmly and deeply stuck into the base.Additionally, the joint is processed with a glue gun. A well-made bouquet will not fall apart in the hands of the bride and will delight her with the whole celebration.

How to decorate?

To make a bouquet of ribbons more interesting and original, it can be decorated with various additional elements. It can be weaving from beads or separate large beads. Large and small pearls look especially good in a bouquet of delicate shades, which are sewn or glued both to the buds themselves and to the space between them.

A small brooch in the shape of a butterfly, dragonfly or ladybug will look great on such a bouquet. The decoration can also be themed, for example, for a wedding on the beach, a bouquet decor in the form of small seashells and starfish is perfect. In addition, elements of tulle and lace are always relevant in the bride's bouquet - they will make the satin composition more delicate and airy.

Beautiful examples

The most popular form of a wedding bouquet has been and remains a spherical shape. It has a comfortable long handle and can be made in one or several colors.

A cascading bouquet in the form of a drop looks especially impressive using the kanzashi technique. It can be decorated with large stones and beautiful brooches.

Unusual bouquets in the shape of a heart or a large flower will look very fresh and original. They do not need additional decor or too bright colors - by themselves they will become a worthy decoration.
