Coupon fabric began to gain popularity in the market not so long ago, but it is already considered a rather popular material. A large number of eminent design houses began to use canvases with ornaments for sewing original items when creating new collections.

What it is?

Coupon fabric is a draped canvas with a pattern or print on the front side. Differs in softness, durability and attractive performance. The pattern is placed on any part of the fabric and in any direction, which makes the material in demand among seamstresses and fashionistas.

The production of coupon fabric is carried out using fibers from:

  • flax;
  • viscose;
  • polyester;
  • wool;
  • cotton.

The latter material is considered optimal for making coupons. The raw materials for the formation of coupon fabric are long thin threads that are run into a machine for subsequent weaving in order to create an elastic fabric. Weaving methods:

  • linen;
  • twill;
  • satin.

Special equipment also allows you to additionally sand the fabric to give it a smoothness and nice shine. The last stage of material formation involves the application of a printed or printed print. Typically, the image is:

  • flowers;
  • landscape;
  • an ornament of geometric shapes;
  • oriental pattern.

Coupon fabrics are created mainly to form an optical illusion, which can be achieved with the help of a pattern or ornament. Designers using this material are able to create real masterpieces, and this has been proven more than once.

The peculiarity of the coupon is that it is not cut by a meter, but as the pattern is located, so that the image becomes completely an element of clothing.

Views

The first coupon fabrics appeared many thousands of years ago - even then people applied certain patterns to canvases. At the same time, in those days it was possible to create an unusual ornament without the help of special technologies - people used exclusively improvised means.

Officially, the coupon was created not so long ago, but there is no exact date of origin of the material. Today, coupon fabric is a full-fledged material that is used for sewing wardrobe items and other things.

The peculiarity of the coupon is, of course, the drawing. Depending on the method of applying the image, the following technologies are distinguished.

  • Laser perforation. In this case, the pattern is stuffed onto the fabric using a powerful laser.
  • Sublimation printing. The peculiarity of the technique is in obtaining colorful images by applying a pattern to natural canvases using dyes that penetrate deep into the fibers.
  • Printed dyeing. The most popular and at the same time the cheapest way of coloring matter is using printing rollers.
  • Batik. Technique for applying exclusive images. Costly, but incredible results. This technique is mainly used for painting white samples.
  • Machine embroidery. The method appeared not so long ago, it is distinguished by its simplicity and convenience, as well as the possibility of applying an ornament to any material.

The fabric also has its own classification. There are several variants of coupon matter.

  • Edge coupon. In this case, the print is on only one side of the fabric.
  • Recurring coupon. The drawing forms a kind of ornament and goes along the entire perimeter of the material.

When cutting such a cloth for sewing both children's and adult clothes, it is necessary to prepare a pattern in advance. It will need to be combined with the print so that the drawing fits completely on the clothes.

Application

Coupon fabric is a popular material for making women's clothing. Often light dresses for the summer season or skirts are sewn from it, which are subsequently decorated with pretty prints. Coupon fabric also flashes in suits, evening dresses, which are decorated with an unusual pattern that complements the image and makes it more attractive.

The main use of coupon material is tailoring or decoration:

  • sundresses;
  • blouses;
  • shirts;
  • skirts;
  • trousers;
  • bed linen;
  • curtains;
  • curtain;
  • scarves;
  • handkerchiefs.

Also, from the coupon, they sew pillowcases for pillows, covers for sofas and fabrics for patchwork. Correctly selected material will help not only create an original wardrobe product, but also brighten up figure flaws and reveal all the possible advantages of the image. It should be noted that a dress is one of the main items of a woman's wardrobe, and very often the preference is given to items made from a coupon. When choosing a dress, special attention should be paid to several factors.

  1. Type of figure. Drawings applied to the fabric can visually increase or decrease the volume of the body. Therefore, fragile girls can opt for a print that emphasizes femininity, and plump girls can opt for designs that visually reduce the silhouette.
  2. Style. Also determined by the type of shape. Today, sewing workshops and fashion design houses offer a large selection of dresses in a variety of designs and attractive prints.
  3. The season. Depending on the weather outside the window, the type of fibers is selected from which the coupon fabric will be sewn. In winter, it is better to wear a viscose dress, and in summer to give preference to linen or cotton.

Additionally, when choosing a dress from a coupon, you should consider the cost and brand.

Care

The main advantages of coupon fabric include:

  • original performance;
  • softness;
  • long service life;
  • the possibility of draping;
  • a large selection of colors, prints and patterns;
  • burnout resistance;
  • unpretentious care.

In order to maintain the quality of the item from the coupon for a long time and not spoil the drawing, you need to take care of the item's care. To begin with, it is worth noting that you can wash things made of such material both by hand and in a washing machine. The mode is determined based on the composition of the fabric, but there is also an optimal program that should be followed:

  • washing with other materials is prohibited;
  • washing clothes of different colors is prohibited;
  • maximum temperature - 40 degrees Celsius;
  • washing duration - 1.5 hours.

Designers do not recommend using chlorine-containing products for washing items from the coupon.

Preference should be given to soft compositions with the function of preserving the shade. The spin mode must be selected for ten minutes (at minimum speed).

Now it is worth moving on to ironing items made of coupon fabric. Before the procedure, it is recommended to turn clothes or other item with the wrong side up. The maximum temperature of the working surface of the iron should be 130-150 degrees.

Store coupon items in a dark and well-ventilated place with optimal humidity. The best solution is to use special garment covers to prevent fading and premature wear of the fabric.
