Today, one of the most demanded fabrics is polysatin, which successfully replaces its sateen predecessor. This material is rather unusual in that all the fibers undergo a special treatment before weaving, so that the fabric becomes perfectly even and smooth.

Description

If you mix coal, oil, water and air, the result is a synthetic additive called polyester. It was this substance that was included in the polysatin composition, thanks to which the fabric acquired strength, exceptional durability, resistance to creases and deformations.

Things made from this canvas are very comfortable, they do not require ironing, they almost do not shrink and look great even on the lightest staining. The second component of the canvas is cotton fiber. As a rule, modern materials contain 35% polyester and 65% cotton.

The material is thin, smooth, the surface is silky. The density of the threads varies from 70 to 100 g / m2. The popularity of the material is due to its extremely high technical and operational characteristics.

  • Durability. The material is resistant to wear, does not fade, does not fade in the sun, is designed for frequent washing and intensive wear.
  • Strength. Double-weave yarns provide tear resistance.
  • Unpretentiousness. Polyester garments are easy to wash, even when heavily soiled. They dry very quickly, without wrinkling, that is, they can be put on immediately after washing and drying (without steaming and smoothing).
  • Convenience in sewing. The material is easy to cut and sew, it does not crumble, the edges do not open or curl.

Many people note the hygro-resistance and breathability of polysatin. However, these qualities are pleasing when you need to sew a canopy, awning or raincoat, but such fabrics are not suitable for everyday clothes: they will not be entirely comfortable in them, the body does not "breathe" at the same time, and this often causes various allergic reactions.

Depending on the raw materials used and the characteristics of use, two types of polyester are distinguished.

Industrial

Made of 100% polyester, it is used for the manufacture of bags, mattresses, furniture upholstery, rugs, awnings and similar products. Throughout the entire period of use, synthetics do not lose their shape, do not change color and do not wear out. Products made of industrial polyester are perfectly washable, although the smooth surface itself hardly absorbs dirt, but rather repels them, which greatly simplifies maintenance.

Some manufacturers sew bedding from this material, but they are not popular with consumers.

Domestic

It is a blended material that is used to make clothes and bedding. In recent years, fabrics with 3D patterns have been at the peak of demand, which are obtained thanks to the special technology of photo-application of bright pictures. The image looks very colorful and realistic and does not lose its colors even after repeated washes.

Comparison with other materials

After appearing on the domestic market, polysatin began to be positioned as a material that replaced such traditional fabrics as satin, microfiber and many other natural fabrics. We will try to answer the question whether this fabric can become an analogue of other canvases.

  • Satin. It is woven from double-twisted fibers that have been pre-processed for an even structure. The result is a dense canvas, but at the same time silky, smooth and thin. This is a completely natural material, and this is its main difference from polysatin, which is either a mixture of synthetics and cotton, or a completely synthetic material. That is why satin is much more expensive than polysatin, although things from it wear out faster and lose their original gloss.
  • Poplin. It is a material made of fibers of different thicknesses, as a result, a dense header is obtained. Poplin can be made from 100% cotton, or it can contain inclusions of silk, wool or artificial fibers. Such material is hypoallergenic and very pleasant to the body to the touch. Like polysatin, poplin does not wrinkle, does not require special care and is worn for quite a long time. Polysatin, especially if it contains a lot of polyester, is less pleasant for the skin, it can become electrified and in rare cases cause irritation. However, it costs much less than poplin, therefore it is in great demand.
  • Calico. The structure of the fabric is the same as that of poplin, but the fibers are coarser. The fabric is completely cotton, therefore it is widely used for the manufacture of bedding sets and other household items. This is a safe and practical fabric, and in these parameters, coarse calico outperforms polyester, but polysatin is softer and softer to the touch, and it is priced a little cheaper.

Summarizing all of the above, we can conclude that polysatin, in the structure of which cotton is present, is almost not inferior to cotton fabrics, but at the same time it costs an order of magnitude cheaper.

If the body does not respond to artificial fibers, then it is quite possible to save a little.

Care

Polysatin is very easy to care for, the only precaution when working with this material is the need to observe the temperature regime when washing and ironing. The fabric easily transfers all cycles and modes of machine and hand wash, while the temperature should be set no higher than 40 degrees. If you wash your laundry at higher temperatures, it will deteriorate pretty quickly.

When choosing detergents, it is better to give preference to formulations without chlorine. This will preserve the brightness of the colors and the clarity of the 3D images. Experts advise using liquid and gel products.

It is advisable to use an air conditioner when working with the canvas: it will preserve the softness of the matter and the saturation of the colors.

Polyester products dry very quickly. It is best to air dry them, they do not lose their properties under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, however, prolonged drying under the open rays of the sun is undesirable. The material can be used immediately after washing and drying, since it does not wrinkle, but experienced housewives advise gently stacking slightly underdried laundry and leaving them on a flat, solid surface for several hours. In this case, the products will look like new, as if they have just "out of the bag".

If, nevertheless, creases have formed on the fabric, then you need to iron the polysatin only on weak heating modes and only from the seamy side. It is imperative to use a cloth lining, although in the vast majority of cases you can simply moisten the cloth with a spray bottle and dry it flat.

Reviews

User opinions about polysatin in most cases are positive. Buyers claim that this is a practical material for household use: it does not wrinkle, is easy to clean and almost does not get dirty. Many people note that they use a bed made of such material for 3-4 years: it does not lose its appearance and operational parameters. Polyester sheets, pillows and duvet cover perfectly absorb moisture, which is essential in hot summer weather.

It is noteworthy that the products have fairly affordable prices, but the appearance is extremely stylish and presentable. It is quite convenient for modern laymen with their fast pace of life to use linen made of this fabric, since taking care of it practically does not take time. However, for children and people prone to allergies, it is better to give preference to completely natural materials.
