Knitted fabrics are becoming more popular every year. More and more items in the wardrobe are presented precisely from jersey. Considering nonwovens, which are designed for reliable protection from the cold, it is worth highlighting the three-thread.

Today she is the leader in low-cost sportswear and warm home textiles. In this article, we will take a closer look at what a three-thread is, its main types, how this fabric is used, as well as the nuances of care.

What it is?

Initially, you should pay attention to the very definition of the material. Three-thread fabric is a type of footer that contains bouffant on the seamy side. It is worth emphasizing that the footer is a knitted fabric that is created by weaving three threads. The densest version is called coulir, because a special knitted pattern is formed on the front side. Two more types of footer are presented - they have loops of lower and higher height on the seamy side. Three-thread in the classic version is presented in the form of cotton, although quite often you can find options that combine polyester and cotton.

Besides, three-strand may contain rayon instead of cotton. Usually this option is mixed with polyester. But all of the above solutions necessarily contain lycra (spandex) fibers, so the fabric is characterized by elasticity. On average, the density of a three-thread is in the range of 190-550 g / m². The density of the fabric directly affects the warmth. The higher it is, the warmer the product will be.

The material can be plain or printed, sometimes there are even children's drawings. Calm matte tones usually prevail.

The Turkish three-line has the following advantages:

  • durability, wear resistance and strengthb - the threads retain their original appearance for a long time, they do not roll or stretch; products made of this material perfectly keep their original shape;
  • excellent thermal insulation properties;
  • hygroscopicity - the fabric perfectly absorbs moisture, thereby taking it away from the body;
  • tenderness and softness - this material is characterized by comfort while wearing;
  • fits for people who have tendency to manifestation of allergic reactions;
  • excellent air permeability - the fabric "breathes" because both air and water vapor pass through it.

But the three-thread also has some disadvantages, namely:

  • the material shrinks after a while;
  • the fabric changes color under the sun's rays, that is, it tends to fade.

By type of fleece

If we take into account the type of fleece, then the following varieties can be distinguished:

  • footer with velor fleece;
  • three-thread with fleece fleece;
  • fabric with a fleece "bike".

By fiber length

The length of the fibers is often used to classify the three-strand. In this case, several types of fabric can be distinguished.

  • Three-thread velor. This knitted fabric is of excellent quality, of course, it is not cheap. Velor has a high density, it is characterized by wear resistance and durability. Since this fabric has some resemblance to velor, having the same soft, short and thick pile, that's why it got this name.
  • Open-end... This option is the cheapest among other varieties. For its production, rather short fibers are used, which are formed on the front side of the villi. The disadvantage of fabric is that after a few washes, the pile can completely roll off. It is not recommended to purchase such cheap knitwear, since it includes a lot of synthetics, as well as the addition of low quality dyes.

In addition, the fleece of the fabric is either artificial or glued.

  • Singing... This material has a fiber length of 35 mm or more. This material is characterized by a silky and smooth surface. It is very soft and fluffy. And on the inside there is a long-lasting pile.
  • Ring and card. There are also such variants of three strands. Their main feature is the presence of rather long fibers. Their length starts from 27 mm. If we talk about quality and durability, then it should be noted that these solutions are better than open-end.

Application

Knitwear can be of the following types, depending on the number of threads used:

  • one thread - this material is the thinnest, therefore it is often used in sewing children's clothing;
  • two threads already have a pile on the seamy side, the presence of lycra gives the fabric elasticity and strength;
  • three strands already form a rather thick pile; this fabric is ideal for creating warm clothes; usually this material consists of lycra, wool and polyester.

Three-thread is quite popular and widespread in the modern world. It is perfect for sewing home clothes for every day or tracksuits.... In addition, it is often used for sewing pajamas. Three-thread is perfect for creating children's clothing. It is often used in the manufacture of a variety of clothing for tourism. It makes great sweatshirts. When sewing outerwear, it can be used as a lining. And also this material can be found in the form of lining for sleeping bags.

Clothes made from three strands are ideal for people who prefer simplicity and comfort. They like the soft footer for its softness and the fact that it keeps you warm. It contains 80% natural raw materials and only 20% additives. Among the color variety, you should pay attention to gray melange, since this color will perfectly fit into any wardrobe, regardless of age.Gray soils are ideal for sewing home or sportswear. Green tones, on the other hand, are rare.

Care

To make three-thread products look beautiful and not shrink, it is recommended to adhere to the following rules from specialists:

  • it is advisable to wash it exclusively at low temperatures; on average, the water temperature should be from +30 to +40 degrees; adhering to such a delicate approach, it will be possible to minimize the possibility of shrinkage;
  • it is advisable not to use machine wash, it is better to make it by hand, since then the service life of the product will increase significantly;
  • if it is decided to wash products in a machine, then it is better to choose a daily mode and spin no more than 800 revolutions per minute;
  • during washing it is recommended add conditioner and softener to the water;
  • when squeezing, you should act quite gently; it is undesirable to twist products;
  • it is very important not to turn the garment inside out before washing it by hand, and machine, since the pile may deteriorate, or puffs will appear;
  • to maintain the brightness of the color gamut, only mild detergents must be addedthat do not contain bleaches;
  • it is strictly forbidden to dry things from the three-thread in direct sunlight or on heating devices; it is better to hang clothes in the shade;
  • such clothes do not need ironing; if you still want to iron the product, then you need to select the "Synthetics" mode for a thin pile and "Cotton" for a high one.

If you follow all of the above recommendations, your three-thread items will retain their shape for a long time and will not lose their original attractive appearance. In addition, it should be noted that if the clothes are sewn from cheap three threads, then, most likely, low-quality dyes were used, in some cases, even the pile is glued to the base of knitwear.

As a result, after the first wash, the product will lose its appearance, and if you wash it in the drum of the washing machine with other things, then they will be spoiled. It is very important to do a test wash by hand, you can take a small piece of the product. Thus, it will be possible to find out whether the fabric is shrinking or not. Manufacturers who create excellent quality three-strand use decating.

If this has not been done, then the material must be moistened, placed on a horizontal surface and wait until it dries. This action will protect the fabric from shedding during cutting. It is recommended to sew the fabric with a narrow zigzag, then elasticity is maintained. When sewing with a high pile, it is best to add extra paper backing while stapling. Buyers of the three-thread product are satisfied with their purchases. They note the comfort during wear, they are attracted by the excellent heat-insulating properties of the material. In such clothes, you can feel lightness and comfort, because nothing hinders movement. The only thing that buyers emphasize is an unpresentable appearance, so usually three-thread clothes are bought for home or sports, but not very suitable for everyday life.

The main advantages of the three-thread thread are durability and ease of care and wear.
