When drawing up a toilet plan, the toilet plays a leading role. A competent choice of plumbing equipment allows you not only to save space inside the room, but also guarantees convenience when carrying out personal hygiene procedures. In the modern sanitary ware market, you can find toilet bowls of various configurations, sizes and installation options.

Standard dimensions of different models

It is necessary to highlight the special standard dimensions of a toilet bowl with a cistern, which are generally accepted and optimal, since almost all this plumbing equipment was designed according to them in the old days. Nowadays, you can even place an order for a special product according to your size, but you need to build on the standard parameters. Such devices are aimed at people with classic characteristics of weight and height. The following standard characteristics can be highlighted:

  • with a one-piece shelf on which a cistern is installed (compact toilet);
  • without shelf, when the tank is mounted to the wall and built into it.

The state standard (GOST) establishes the following standard size of floor-standing compact toilets with a cistern:

  • depth (length) - from 61 to 64.5 cm;
  • width - from 34.5 cm;
  • height - from 37 to 39.5 cm.

Please note that in drawings and diagrams, all parameters are indicated in mm.

Toilet bowls without a shelf have the following parameters:

  • length - from 43.5 to 46 cm;
  • width - from 36 cm;
  • height - 35.5-40 cm.

Foreign standards are somewhat different from domestic products:

  • depth - up to 68.5 cm;
  • width - up to 36.5 cm;
  • height - up to 41 cm.

Among the floor-standing toilets, you can find corner options, which, due to the peculiarities of their design, are also in demand for installation in non-residential and residential premises in order to save space.

The dimensions of a corner toilet directly depend on the dimensions of the corner in which it will be installed. The corner-type toilet can have the following dimensions:

  • width - from 34.5 to 37.5 cm;
  • depth - 72.5-79 cm;
  • height - from 37 to 43 cm.

Placing a plumbing device in the corner makes it possible to mount all communication lines secretly, in other words, it turns out a corner toilet with an installation hidden in the wall, and the plumbing equipment itself is thoroughly mounted to the floor and wall.

If we consider the parameters of the suspended modification of the toilet bowl with installation, then here they are somewhat different from the standard. This model is mounted in such a way that the lines of communication are hidden, and the bowl itself does not touch the floor, as a result of which the height of the hanging toilet bowl from the floor is calculated in a completely different way. Manufacturers indicate the height of the bowl, and at what distance from the floor to put it, the owner can decide personally.

The advantages of the suspended structure are the visual increase in the usable area, harmonious combination with the interior decoration. In addition, the installation of such a toilet makes it possible to significantly facilitate the procedure for cleaning the toilet, since the drain does not interfere with freely wiping the floor under the bowl.

Suspended modifications are capable of withstanding a load of up to 450 kilograms, in other words, despite their grace and external fragility, they are quite strong and reliable. The parameters of the suspended structure, excluding the installation, have the following dimensions:

  • width - from 35.5 cm to 37 cm;
  • depth - from 48 cm to 70 cm;
  • height - from 35 cm to 40 cm.

Plumbing fixtures of the built-in type are also in good demand. Their advantage is that everything unattractive is built into the wall - pipes, hoses, a drain and a tank are hidden behind a false panel. Only a beautiful bowl and a water drain button remain available for review.

The dimensions of the installed equipment of the floor-standing and suspended modifications of the toilet bowl with installation have the following dimensions:

  • width - from 35.5 to 37 cm;
  • depth - from 47 to 58 cm;
  • height - from 39 to 42 cm.

The installation of a toilet bowl installation makes the use of a plumbing device essentially silent, since conditions are created for high-quality sound insulation when water is drawn into the tank and flushed. And the solid fastening guarantees the stability of the entire installation system.

Basically, the dimensions of the installation are 50 cm in width and 110 cm in height.

What are the minimum sizes?

Small toilets are most often installed for children. Nevertheless, small-sized modifications are equally chosen by fans of minimalism in the style of the toilet room, even if its area allows you to install a toilet bowl of a larger size.

Compact or children's toilets have the following characteristics:

  • width - from 29 to 35 cm;
  • depth - from 46 to 59 cm;
  • height - from 26 to 34 cm.

When choosing a toilet for children, you should take into account the height and weight of the child, and, of course, the fact that children grow up quite rapidly, therefore, it is required to select a product with a size margin of 20-25%.

If we are talking about non-standard dimensions, then it is necessary to isolate such plumbing devices, which are distinguished by extremely small parameters, and therefore are comfortable for people of small stature with a fragile physique.

Small, narrow toilets are ideal for small toilets. They look especially impressive in the dressing room, which is created in a minimalist style. They can be approximately 30 cm in width and 50 cm in length, while the height is almost always no more than 30 centimeters. These toilets are tiny and affordable.

The largest toilet bowls

Large-sized sanitary equipment is intended for large people with an impressive physique and solid weight. When choosing a toilet product in this version, it is important that it be able to withstand the increased load. For this reason, modifications of large toilets are ready to withstand a weight of up to 600 kilograms.

Samples of overall toilet bowls can have the following dimensional characteristics:

  • width - up to 40 centimeters;
  • length - up to 70 centimeters;
  • height - up to 65 centimeters.

Large-sized sanitary fittings are significantly different from standard models and can be made to order according to the client's parameters.

Measurement features

The first step is to determine the required length and width of the sanitary device. It is supposed to take measurements after finding out several technical characteristics.

  • Width and length of the restroom... The optimal distance is 30 centimeters from the toilet bowl to the walls or the rest of the plumbing, as well as 60 centimeters from the bowl to the front wall.
  • Sewer outlet width and configuration (vertical, oblique or horizontal pipe outlet).
  • Sewer pipe diameter and length (from the wall to the branch pipe), on which the distance between the toilet bowl and the wall depends.
  • Distance to the water supply.

When a system is being installed that requires an installation (for example, a wall-mounted toilet or with a built-in cistern), then the width, height and other design parameters should be additionally taken into account. In addition, the false wall and its cladding should not be overlooked.

Once the width and length have been determined, you need to set the height of the toilet. Basically, the distance to the floor should be such that the legs on it can stand without tension, and not be in a hanging position. It is best to calculate the height, focusing on the tallest person living in the apartment.

Selection Tips

Toilets differ among themselves not only in the dimensions and configuration of the tank and bowl, but also in other characteristics that are important during installation.

So that the toilet you have purchased can be installed in the toilet without much effort and problems, it is advisable to pay attention to several important aspects.

  • If you have a typical sewage system (which is carried out against the walls, and not in the ceilings between floors), buy a toilet that has an oblique outlet. It is very easy to install, regardless of the location of the drain.
  • Find out the exact distance from the toilet bowl drain (outlet) to the sewer pipe. This is required to purchase a suitable cuff or connecting pipe.
  • It is recommended to make a rigid tube or flexible hose, which mates the inlet of the drain tank with a water outlet, as short as possible. However, do not forget that in this variant there will be some difficulties in connection.

And in conclusion: the toilet bowl in terms of the toilet should be of such a size that any person visiting the toilet would not have any difficulties in moving around this room.
