Surely everyone will agree that windows without tulle seem lonely, and the interior looks unfinished. However, if we are used to decorating all windows with curtains, then sometimes we forget to pay due attention to the design of the curtains of the balcony or loggia. The material of this article will tell you about what tulle curtains are and how they can be hung.

Primary requirements

Regardless of what type of canvas is planned to be hung on the balcony windows, the curtains must obey certain rules. For example, they:

  • should not be too dense, significantly reducing the level of luminous flux coming from the street into the room;
  • cannot be unnecessarily long, since this will contradict the safety standards of a person on the balcony;
  • should be predominantly light, since dark ones will instantly reduce the level of natural light in the room;
  • should be practical and, if possible, resistant to ultraviolet radiation, otherwise they will quickly burn out;
  • should not be too pompous, given that the area of the balcony or loggia is limited;
  • should provide for convenient methods of opening and closing, although sometimes they can be stationary.

Varieties

Fashion trends of the new season suggest turning to tulle curtains of a wide variety of cuts. For example, products for decorating a balcony or loggia can be made in the form:

  • Japanese panels (models of a smooth type of meter width without folds);
  • Austrian curtains (curtains with draped scallops at the bottom and a straight panel at the top);
  • French (panels draped along their entire length in the form of lush scalloped draperies);
  • London curtains (models with rare scallops, usually no more than three, which are collected only from the bottom, and even then not too magnificently);
  • Roman models (modern curtains of a short length of lifting type, gathering in folds of the same width and length);
  • roller blind (models with a special transverse shaft, or even a cassette in which the fabric is hidden when the window is opened);
  • pleated (curtains of short length, which can be opened both from top to bottom and from bottom to top, having a transformation mechanism according to the principle of an accordion);
  • stained glass curtains (which are hung from glasses, forming certain curtain compositions);
  • cafe models (differing not too long and with a rectangular base of panels that do not completely cover the window);
  • unforgettable classics (ordinary rectangular canvases of fabric, which can have fastenings in the form of eyelets, loops or curtain tape).

Materials (edit)

Modern tulle is made from different raw materials, fabrics can be completely natural, synthetic or blended. At the same time, the best type of curtains for a balcony are those made of blended fibers. In comparison with natural ones, they are not so brand, they are resistant to creasing, fading under the sun, they are not afraid of shrinkage during washing.

According to the fashion trends of this season in priority materials with an unusual texture. The basis of "unusualness" can be the type of weave: it can combine threads of different thickness, texture and composition. This allows you to create, for example, a unique rain effect, which is considered one of the most fashionable today. Besides, tulle with shimmer is in fashion, for example: pearl, mother-of-pearl, chameleon, changing shade at different viewing angles.

Tulle fabric can be laconic or elegant. Depending on what style of interior will be chosen as the basis for the design of a room with an adjoining balcony (loggia), the choice can be made in favor of simple plain curtains or panels with an ombre effect. In addition, embroidered trim is in fashion (along the bottom of the tulle, over its entire area). Products with beads, as well as sequins, a curly edge at the bottom of the canvas are also fashionable.

Organza is not as popular this season as mesh models, characterized by a sparse weave of threads that creates a flax effect. Textures with knots are coming into fashion: this tulle is considered one of the most spectacular and fresh today. The veil should be elegant today, however, if the style requires strict decisions, you will have to obey by choosing models for a specific type of fastening.

Colors and patterns

To decorate the balcony, you can take tulle of different colors: white, blue, pinkish, beige, milk, cream. Ivory, peach, light apricot, bleached pistachio, cream are also in vogue. If a room with an adjoining balcony is flooded with sunlight, you can buy tulle in a light turquoise, sunny or light purple shade to decorate balcony windows.

Not in fashion only plain curtains - products made from canvases in medium-sized stripes (both longitudinal and transverse), flowers, and a cage are gaining popularity. Some people prefer prints with butterflies, leaves or plant branches. On sale you can find models with ornate openwork, monograms and damask patterns. As for the flowers, today prints of the meadow theme (for example, chamomile) are in fashion.

Nuances of stylistics

Tulle in the interior of any room can indicate a certain stylistic idea. The same rule applies to models for loggias. Considering that both balcony and room windows must be in the same style, the choice must be correct. For example, if minimalism is the basis of style, when buying panels, you need to pay attention to their functionality and the absence of everything superfluous.

In fact, these are simple translucent curtains with hinges or ribbon. The fabric can be matte or with a characteristic satin sheen.

No unnecessary patterns are needed: textiles should be monochromatic, and their shape should be rectangular. No draperies are needed, but longitudinal folds are quite appropriate.

Tulle material for design directions such as country or provence, on the contrary, it should be printed, since it is the drawings on the fabric that are the hallmark of these interior styles. As for the type of cut, the style can be, for example, classic on the eyelets, Roman or London, but not long. The appearance of the tulle should give a certain rustic simplicity. Vegetable motifs, a discreet cell or a medium-sized strip are welcome.

Classic interior trends designs need special elegance. Of course, classic curtains on the windows of a balcony or loggia look better when this part of the architecture is connected to the main room: these are Austrian, French, London models. Often, this tulle is combined with a contrasting one, which allows you to add a special mood to the interior design.

How to choose and place?

When choosing a tulle option for your balcony, you need to take into account a number of nuances. For example, it can be solid or separate for each section. As a rule, the balcony windows will have to be opened in order to ventilate the room, and therefore a solid panel may not seem the most convenient to use.

  • Products are bought taking into account the approximate dimensions, measuring the window frames of the balcony (loggia) before buying.
  • The color of the panels is matched to the general background design of the interior.
  • If frequent folds are conceived, the width of the panel on the window is doubled.
  • If there are a lot of small details in the room, try to take monophonic tulle curtains.
  • If the balcony or loggia is connected to the room, they take styles of such length that it does not interfere with the furniture installed near the windows.
  • If a working corner is organized on the loggia, they try to take products that will not steal too much light.
  • The fabric of the tulle should correspond to the status of the interior of the nearby room. The cheap does not look harmonious against the expensive.

When buying, consider practicality. If there is furniture in the combined room near the windows, it is inappropriate to take tulle with loose interweaving of threads.

You can beautifully hang tulle curtains on the windows of a balcony or loggia in several ways, for example:

  • usually without picking up with grabs;
  • using grips and forming with their help the shape of the top of the hourglass;
  • stained glass (hourglass), connecting in the center with ribbons, bows, garters;
  • collecting a single canvas in tails, and decorating the bottom with scallops, tightening the length of the panel by means of sewn ropes;
  • creating a curtain arched composition with the help of Austrian-type tulle;
  • using models with shafts for each window, decorating them with ribbons at the bottom;
  • alternating monochromatic and colored panels, using stained-glass models or products with lower fastening to the frame;
  • collecting the panel in the center in a semicircle, using this technique on separate curtains for each window.

Using designer hooks for curtain decoration (for example, in the form of stylized figures).
