Experienced housewives know many ways to color eggs for Easter. One of the simplest and most popular is the use of onion skins. This natural dye allows you to get an even and pleasant color at no cost.

Preparation

Before dyeing the eggs in the desired color, they must first be boiled.... Eggs are removed from the refrigerator 20-30 minutes before boiling. This is necessary so that they do not crack due to a sharp temperature drop. Next, the eggs are placed in a container with water and sent to a slow fire. The saucepan in which they are boiled should not be too large. The water in it needs to be slightly salted. In this case, even if the shell is cracked, the protein will not leak out of it. This means that the product will not be spoiled.

Boil eggs for coloring for 8-10 minutes. You shouldn't digest them. This will make the yolk taste unpleasant. Boiling water is poured from a saucepan with eggs. The products are poured with cold water. They are left in this form until they cool completely.

If quail eggs are used for coloring, they are boiled for only 3-5 minutes. This will be enough.

While the eggs are boiling, you need to prepare the husk. Cleanups can be prepared in advance. They are simply collected in a bag and stored in a warm and dry place.

The husk is placed in a saucepan. Next, water is poured into the container. In this form, the husk is left for half an hour. This is necessary in order for all the garbage to settle to the bottom. After that, the husk must be rinsed and filled with water again. Further, the water with purifications must be boiled for 20-40 minutes. The staining time depends on the desired result. The finished broth will be used in the future.

Dyeing methods

Now there are several ways to stain the shell with onion broth.

Classical

Most often, eggshells are dyed according to a standard recipe.

  1. Boiled eggs are placed in an onion broth prepared in advance. They must be completely covered with water.
  2. Boil eggs for 10-15 minutes. From time to time they are carefully turned over. This is necessary in order for the color to be even and beautiful.
  3. After that, the water is decanted. The eggs are cooled and transferred to a napkin.

You can paint the shell with this method in a container with red, blue or gold husks. The color of Easter treats depends on the choice of material for dyeing.

Using threads and elastic bands

Beautiful striped patterns can be obtained using this staining method.... The work usually uses clerical rubber bands or thick threads. They wrap the egg around the entire circumference. Lines can be located either opposite each other, or in any order.

Prepared eggs are sent to a container with onion infusion. They are boiled in it for 20 minutes. After that, the dyes are cooled and dried.

If desired, you can use masking tape, ribbons or lace strips instead of threads. They are much easier to attach to the shell surface.

With gradient

This is one of the most difficult ways to color eggs. For work, you need to pick up a small container. The eggs in it should be located as close to each other as possible. In this case, they will not budge at the most inopportune moment. Having chosen the dishes, you can start coloring the eggs.

  1. A strong broth of onion peel must be poured into a container. It should only cover a third of the eggs.
  2. The container is sent to the stove and boiled for 4-7 minutes.
  3. Next, add some hot water to the pan. This makes the infusion less concentrated.
  4. After boiling the eggs for a few more minutes, pour the same amount of water into the pan. At this stage, the broth should completely cover the dyes.
  5. After 3-4 minutes, the eggs are removed from the pan and put on a napkin to dry.

If done correctly, the results of the work will look impressive.

With marble effect

Easter eggs with a beautiful marble effect also look interesting. Making them at home is very simple.

  1. First you need to chop the onion peel. It is best to keep the pieces small.
  2. Next, each of the eggs cooked in advance must be moistened in warm water and rolled in chopped husks.
  3. After that, the workpiece must be wrapped in gauze or bandages and secured with threads. The material should fit snugly against the skin. Only in this case the pattern will turn out to be clear and beautiful.
  4. The eggs prepared in this way must be placed in a pot of water.
  5. After boiling the liquid, add 1-2 tablespoons of brilliant green to the container. The amount of food depends on the size of the pot.
  6. Boil the eggs for another 6-8 minutes.
  7. After draining the water, the dyes are cooled and the gauze and husk are removed from them.

It is not necessary to wash the eggs for too long. This will cause the color to become less vivid.

With onion scales and hibiscus

Many people also like this option for dyeing eggs. Using a bright natural paint, you can get a nice pattern with red and gold stains.

About 200 grams of onion husks are used to color the eggs. It is best to use flakes from different types of onions. This will make the color brighter and more unusual. In addition to the husk, 100 grams of hibiscus, notebook paper and gauze or unnecessary nylon stockings are used in the work. It is most convenient to paint white chicken eggs with this material.

The process of dyeing the shell in this style consists of several steps.

  1. First you need to prepare the onion peel. It is cut into small pieces with scissors.
  2. The resulting flakes are mixed with white cut paper.
  3. Next, the cheesecloth is cut into even squares. Each of them must be large enough to pack the paint.
  4. Each egg must be washed and degreased with vinegar. Next, you need to roll it in a mixture of husks and shredded paper. These materials should fit snugly against the shell.
  5. The egg must be wrapped in cheesecloth or fixed with threads.
  6. The food prepared in this way is placed in a saucepan.
  7. Next, the remains of the husk, tea and a little salt are sent to the container. All this is poured with warm water.
  8. The resulting broth is brought to a boil. Then the fire is reduced. Krashenki continue to cook for 10 minutes.
  9. Then the fire is turned off. Eggs are not removed from the pan. They are left in a container with a decoction for another 20 minutes.
  10. Then the eggs are taken out of the saucepan and laid out on a plate. When they have cooled down a little, they will need to be carefully peeled from husks and paper. The dried parts are pre-moistened with tea.

The finished dyes are gently wiped again, and then transferred to a basket or dish.

With original pattern

Onion hulls can also be used to create original patterns on the shell. To make a light pattern appear on it, various stencils are applied to its surface before cooking. They are attached to a moist egg base. Then the stencils are carefully fixed with threads or gauze.

You can decorate eggs with patterns using foliage and flowers of various plants, delicate lace, as well as fabrics with beautiful embossed weaving.

To make the pattern bright and attractive, eggs with white shells should be used for staining.

Art painting

This method will delight those who are carried away by the process of coloring the shell itself. It will be interesting to create artistic patterns for both adults and children. At the same time, it should be understood that such a process is rather laborious.

To begin with, the eggs are boiled in a container with an onion peel. It is not necessary to wash them after processing. When the painting is finished, you need to take a needle in your hands. The necessary drawings are scribbled on the shell with it. You can use a variety of ideas as sources of inspiration. As a rule, they prefer to decorate the shell with small flowers, leaves or abstract figures.

When coloring eggs in this way, you should not put too much pressure on the needle. Otherwise, there is a risk of breaking the shell.
