In the modern world, the pace of life is frantic, and more and more often people prefer a quick shower over a relaxing bath. Therefore, most users prefer to install a shower cabin in their bathrooms.

Selection rules

Before choosing a shower cabin directly, you need to consider its purpose, and what functions it should perform for you. As there are options that are quite expensive and have many features available.

It is also worth paying attention to the size of the cabin, for this you will need to go inside to make sure that nothing bothers you, and you will not bump your limbs against the walls of the cabin. Do not forget that the size of the product should fit well into the bathroom, so you should immediately decide on the dimensions.

If you have a small bathroom, you should choose models with sliding doors, so you can save space.

The choice of a cabin with transparent or frosted glass will also depend on the quality of the water in the apartment, since hard water will stain the glass.

It is also important to remember that you should not install the shower cabin yourself; it is better to invite specialists for this so that the installation process is performed correctly.

The most common dimensions for enclosed shower enclosures are 80x80 and 90x90. There are also models with sizes 70x70 and 100x100.

Advantages and disadvantages

All products have their own advantages and disadvantages. The pros are as follows:

  • easy installation, which takes a short period of time and does not create a lot of dirt;
  • economical water consumption, in comparison with using a bath;
  • many variations and design solutions;
  • functionality.

The range of this plumbing is simply huge, and you can find a large number of options and combinations on the market. Some designers are ready to create a product according to your taste and according to your parameters.

    Now in shower cabins there are many functions - there is even the possibility of hydromassage, and this is a nice bonus, especially during the morning invigorating shower. This procedure can give you a boost of energy and good mood for the whole day. In some models, instead of a standard tray, there may be a full-fledged bathtub, which allows you not to give up relaxing baths in favor of a shower.

    Disadvantages of the product:

    • rather painstaking care, in comparison with the bathroom;
    • low-quality budget models;
    • high cost of the product;
    • good water pressure is required.

    Popular manufacturers

      One of the oldest shower enclosure companies in Finland is DO Kylpyhuone Oy, it was founded in 1870.

      A younger company that manufactures shower cabins is the brand Deto, which was founded in 2011. Finnish shower cabins are considered one of the best in terms of quality.

      Another manufacturer from Finland is the company IDO, but the price of the products is quite high, so not everyone can afford the products of this company.

      Finland rightfully occupies one of the leading places in the production of this type of sanitary ware, since the quality and functionality of the models are always at their best.

      Models

      One of the most popular models on the market is considered Ido Showerama... This is an open cabin, its feature is that you can choose the size you need. They are available both with transparent glass with a thickness of 6 mm, and with tinted or frosted glass. The cockpit pallet is made of marble, which makes it durable and strong. The model has a rain shower function, as well as a hand shower. The only drawback is the high price and expensive components for the cab.

      Another popular Finnish shower cabin model is Novitek Evelyn. This is a closed box with a hot tub. Its length is 170 cm, which is a full-fledged stationary bath. The volume of water that fits into this box is 240 liters. Such a combined box of a bath and a shower cabin will make it possible not only to take a shower, but also to soak up the foam bath. Also, the model has the ability to hydromassage the back, neck and legs.

      Present rain shower function, which will allow you to cheer up well in the morning. The faucet has 5 positions, and also has a thermostat, which, even with changes in water temperatures, will keep the water comfortable for you. A pleasant addition is the fact that the cockpit has a radio, shelves, two seats and a mirror.

      The dimensions of the cab can easily accommodate two people. The price, of course, is not low for the product, but by purchasing this model you get 2 in 1: both a shower cabin and a full bath.

      Thanks to the Finnish quality, such a box will last a long period of time and will not require replacement after 3 or 4 years, unlike Chinese manufacturers.

      Some Finnish manufacturers may offer options for shower cabins in conjunction with a sauna. However, not everyone can afford to install such a structure in an apartment, since the process of creating and maintaining a high temperature is carried out mainly by infrared heaters, which requires a sufficiently strong power.

      In multi-storey old buildings, the power limit is 5 kW, while the minimum required power for this type of cab is 8 kW. To do this, you will have to think over ways to provide such a product with the necessary energy. Since the increase in power consumption in the apartment belongs to reconstruction works, then to install such a box, special approvals will be required.

      Distinctive features of boxing with a sauna from a shower cabin:

      • the box is divided into two parts, one of which is a standard shower cubicle, the other is a sauna;
      • the high price of the product, and therefore the dimensions of such a box are quite large;
      • the sauna has a flat floor instead of a pallet, and the drain hole is located in the shower room;
      • in a room with a steam room, there is usually a dry or wet stove (it is better to choose products with a wet stove, they do not need to make approvals to increase the power consumption, since it does not require so much energy, but it is worth learning how to monitor the humidity level);
      • in the boxes in the part where the sauna is located, a lounger must be present, otherwise there will simply be no point in buying such a box.

      Many points are described in the instructions for such boxes. It is important to remember that the maximum temperature in the steam room should not exceed 100 degrees Celsius. Before buying, read the instructions and pay attention to the moment, where there will be tips on how to properly maintain such temperature conditions. Pay attention to the presence of a thermostat on the model or hygrometer to be able to track the readings.

      In such boxes, near the sauna compartment, there is good thermal insulation made of glass wool, this is done so that such a high temperature does not heat up all the rooms, but is only maintained in the required compartment. Experts do not recommend choosing models where the thermal insulation is made of polystyrene, polyurethane foam or any polymer insulation materials. After all, these materials can melt at elevated temperatures.

      A distinctive feature of such cabins is their wood finish. It creates the feeling that you are in a real sauna, allows you to relax and enjoy the scent of wood.
