It takes a lot of time and effort to plan your bathroom and save space. Sometimes even ordinary shower cabins do not fit in some room, and then options with a smaller pallet come to the rescue. But they also have their own subtleties that must be taken into account.

Peculiarities

The most important point about medium-base shower enclosures is that they are unpredictable. The appearance does not allow you to say for sure whether some model will fit into the bathroom, whether its dimensions will fit. There are both very compact and rather large modifications in the "middle" group.

The first ones usually differ in insignificant functionality and are not very convenient for washing an adult. But they allow you to guarantee equip even a small bathroom.

Species overview

The main gradation of shower cabins is carried out according to the shape of their base (the very pallet). The most common are:

  • square;
  • rectangle;
  • rounded pallet.

In some cases, the use of custom-shaped pallets is practiced, but you need to think carefully before making such a choice. A small bathroom may not have enough space for such delights. An equally important role is played by the performance of the booth. So, an open version (aka a shower enclosure):

  • easily assembled with your own hands;
  • is very inexpensive;
  • opens up the broadest design and decoration prospects;
  • can be dismantled without any problems.

But quite often full-wall shower cabins are also used. Thanks to the complete closure of the washing area, splashes on the floor and outside walls are avoided. Preparation for start-up is greatly simplified: after supplying the necessary communications, you can immediately use the booth. At the same time, it is necessary to understand that the structure is going to be assembled immediately for a long time, and this assembly should be approached with all care. Equally important, moving a full-walled shower stall to a new location is much more difficult than using a shower enclosure (although nothing is impossible here).

The full-wall version is as functional as possible. If space permits, you can even choose a combined version, including with a deep tray. This solution combines the advantages of a bathroom with hydromassage options and other useful features. But it can only be used on an area of at least 7-8 square meters. m. The cost of such structures is also quite high.

Dimensions (edit)

Sizing takes place primarily along the walls. The most compact design, which also allows you not to lose convenience, is considered booth 70x70 cm... But constructions are much more popular. size 90x90... They look compact at the same time and allow you to wash without significant inconvenience. A similar size is found in the products of various companies.

The 90x90 cm cab can be equipped with almost the latest technology. Constructions 100x100x200 cm also produced by any modern manufacturer. But the majority of customers prefer to use models 100x80, 100x100, 120x80 cm. The last of these sizes completes the range of medium pallet cabins.

Only the largest (from 100x100 cm) specimens can work in Turkish bath mode.

Materials (edit)

The choice of materials for the main part (walls) is small. It is either tempered glass (with or without a film that provides opacity), or another suitable material. It should be moisture resistant, light enough and not interfere with quick opening as needed.

  • Shower trays are predominantly made of acrylic. This material will not pick up dirt and is quite cheap. It is not difficult to eliminate even rather large defects on such a surface.
  • Steel is attractive in that pallets from it are simply not subject to deformation. However, when a jet of water strikes a steel surface, quite loud sounds are generated. Few people want to conflict with neighbors or household members because of this.
  • Ceramics are convenient, but bad in that they can easily crack from any blow.
  • Cast iron is devoid of these shortcomings, but it is very heavy and expensive.

Taking into account all the features, the choice of most people in favor of acrylic turns out to be quite justified.

How to choose?

In terms of functional and ergonomic characteristics, sliding cabins stand out favorably. They are suitable for anyone who wants to save space in the bathroom and at the same time avoid accidental breakage of the door. However, some cabins are designed in such a way that the sliding mechanism is difficult to mount in them. In this case, it is advisable to choose a swing structure. Or a more aesthetic type - accordion doors with hinges.

Above it was said about the choice of pallet material. But in some cases, you can do without it altogether. Then the shower stall is placed directly on the floor or on the bathtub. An equally important point is the cost of the finished product. In the budgetary part of the assortment, Russian, Chinese manufacturers and some factories of the CIS countries firmly hold the palm.

      The products of such brands as deserve attention:

      • Niagara;
      • Erlit;
      • Grado;
      • Good Door;
      • Triton;
      • Riho;
      • Wasserkraft;
      • Sanplast.
