The realities of the modern world are such that very often you have to place the living room and the nursery in the same room. The traditional design of the space in this case will not work, since the child's personal area must necessarily be separated from the common area.

Pros and cons of combining

When the living room and the nursery are located in the same room, it is difficult to call this the most successful situation. However, a certain number of advantages of such a combination are still present. Of course, we are talking primarily about the necessary saving of free space.

If you combine the hall and the nursery, then the parents can leave a separate bedroom, which is really important for an adult couple. For some families, it will also be a plus to be able to spend time together more often, for example, when the parents are watching TV and the child is playing with toys nearby. Unusual layouts can be even more interesting than individual rooms, and certainly more functional.

Unfortunately, this combination has enough disadvantages. If you combine the living room and the nursery, then the child will never have his own personal space, the need for which increases every year.

Since the living room is most often used for watching TV, irritants such as light, sounds, and other people will constantly be present in the room, which again will deprive the young inhabitant of comfort.

Zoning methods

To divide one room into two, you must apply one of the zoning methods. At the same time, it is important that the children's area has the most natural lighting, ideally from the window opening, and also there are heating devices. Considering that it is better to place the child away from the door, it is recommended to place his room by the window. It will be possible to make a full-fledged separation only if when the area of the common room allows it.

If the available footage is small, then the adult area will have to be separated from the nursery using light, color and interior items.

Plasterboard or plywood is often used as a partition, forming a doorway of a regular or outlandish shape. If a glass sheet is used for this purpose, then you can be sure that both zones will be well lit. Screens made of plastic, fabric or natural materials are characterized by an affordable price and an interesting appearance. The same applies to fabrics commonly used as curtains. In order for the partition to be multifunctional, it should be chosen from furniture items, for example, shelving or cabinets.

High ceilings allow you to form a second level in the room, where the child's personal space will be.

Visually, one room is divided into two by organizing multi-level ceilings and a podium, using an insulated loggia, or using different textures and colors.

Selection and placement of furniture

In the living area, there must be a sofa with armchairs, a coffee table and some kind of cabinet on which the TV will be placed. In the same room, it is appropriate to place a bookcase, a shelf for dishes or a rack for decorative items. It is better to refuse such elements as poufs or bedside tables, since there is not much space in the living room-nursery.

It looks good when furniture in the living room area is chosen in dark shades, and for the nursery - in light colors. Items placed in the children's area should be compact and as practical as possible.

For a baby, nothing is needed except a crib, a changing table and a wardrobe for storing the necessary things, but the older the child becomes, the more he needs for life. It is better to take a bed for an older child either in the form of a sofa, or a bunk bed, under the berth of which there is a desk and shelves for books. It's good if this element has additional storage space, for example, drawers.

In addition, you cannot do without a desk, a small locker or shelving, as well as a place for games, if we are talking about a small child. The style of the children's area should be at least slightly different from the adult to emphasize the separation.

Decor and textiles

The decor in the combined room, of course, should be present, but in small quantities, so as not to overload the already reduced space. Materials should definitely be chosen environmentally friendly, without any sharp corners or easily breakable elements.

It is recommended to take curtains opaque and rollto ensure your baby gets a good night's sleep. In the daytime, it is good to be present at the window light tulle. It makes sense to cover one of the walls of the children's area slate paint, thereby providing the child with a place to draw.

The crib should be covered with a blanket and a couple of animal or cartoon characters decorative pillows. In the living room area, pillows will also be useful, but of more strict forms and colors that match the overall interior. Both there and there posters can be placed on the walls, but in the child's room with cartoon characters, and in the adult zone - with some kind of abstract paintings or motivating inscriptions. Look good decorative inscriptions made of wood, the words for which are chosen depending on the interests and preferences of the whole family.

Plants should be placed only on surfaces inaccessible to a small child, or they should be located in large floor pots that are difficult to knock over.

Styles

Despite the fact that it is necessary to carry out zoning in the combined children's living room, experts still recommend adhering to a single design. The style of the children's area should either be slightly different from the adult, or be the same, especially if the space is divided only with low furniture.

The style itself can be anything, but to create a harmonious atmosphere, it is customary to give preference to Scandinavian, Provence, country or classic.

Decorating rooms of different sizes

Rooms of different sizes are decorated with some differences. For example, in a one-room apartment, the number of square meters often remains small, and it is necessary to fit into the space not only a living room with a nursery, but also an office with a dressing room. In this case every item should be multifunctionalfor example, the TV is located on the chest of drawers, and not on a regular counter, and bed linen and towels are stored in the sofa of the living area.

The room is 18 sq. m it is better to hang curtains light and light, and choose modular furniture, which can be modified at will, or can be easily added or removed. As a decor for 16 sq. m or 17 sq. m, mirrors and glass elements are used to visually expand the space.

In addition, if the area of the room is less than 19-20 sq. m, it is recommended to do without full-fledged partitions or complex structures, as they will "steal" important square meters.

Beautiful examples

The living room, combined with the children's room, can be decorated stylishly and multifunctionally, despite the complexity of the task at hand. One of the most common ways for zoning space is considered drywall construction, which acts not only as a separator, but also as a place for storing books and any decor. Both wall and floor coverings are uniform throughout the room. The floor is decorated with light parquet, and the walls are painted in a pleasant pale green color. An unusual plasterboard structure is mounted on the ceiling, which also meets the zoning task.

The lighting in the combined room is uniform and consists of spotlights around the perimeter, a designer chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, as well as lighting on a plasterboard structure. In the children's area there is a folding sofa for a schoolchild in a beige shade, a desk with cupboards, a chair on wheels and hanging shelves. For furniture, shades are used that are the same for the entire interior: pale light green, white and beige.

The windows are decorated with canvases of a dark green shade, as well as light tulle. In the living area there is a rather large beige sofa, a small brown rug with bright patterns and a TV. There is also a pillow and a poster on the wall as decor.

If in one room it is necessary to place, in addition to the living area, as many as two children, then you have to be creative. The presence of numerous drywall structures does an excellent job with this task. The nursery itself is located on a podium with pull-out drawers used to store essential items. On the left there is a bunk bed, again with drawers, which is blocked from the living room area by a double-sided cabinet, allowing you to place the necessary things on both sides. The windowsill has been transformed into a large work table, next to which is a pair of brightly colored chairs on wheels.

The window opening itself is hidden by light blinds. A long modular cabinet is placed along the entire left wall. In the children's area, in addition to the usual storage space, there are open shelves, and in the adult area there is a niche for a TV. Spotlights are placed around the entire perimeter, illuminating both the nursery and the living room.In addition, there is an unusual lamp on the work table, and a designer chandelier adorns the living room.

The only furniture in the hall is a leather sofa in a calm beige color, facing the TV. Behind him is an unusual composition of bright pink canvases. A striped rug in soothing shades adds coziness to the space.

In order to provide comfort to all residents of the apartment, zoning can be carried out using light curtains to the floor. The presence of chandeliers with four bulbs in each zone will make it possible to provide good lighting in both parts. In the children's area, the footage allows you to place a bunk bed with a large number of wardrobes, a cozy armchair, a work desk and space for storing textbooks. The living room has a sofa, coffee table, TV stand and a number of hanging cabinets.
