Cooking is a pleasure and a lot of positive emotions. But only if all cooking utensils are perfectly clean. This is especially true for baking trays, which not everyone and not always notice, and only after discovering a huge amount of carbon deposits, they begin to look for means of removing it. In order not to spend a lot of time and money on cleaning, you should know in advance which methods will help you quickly and easily cope with both fresh dirt and old burnt fat.

Fundamental rules

The baking trays on which food is cooked in the oven are usually made of aluminum or glass, but the coating can be Teflon or enamel. Before you start cleaning at home, be sure to decide what kind of material your product has. This is very important because what works great for one surface will be totally unacceptable for another.

As a result of the wrong choice, the kitchen attribute will be spoiled, the coating may "creep", and this will entail burning food and an unpleasant smell during cooking.

To prevent such troubles, there are several important rules to take into account.

  • Glass and enamel are washed only with sponges, and with a soft side. Even old fat should not be rubbed with metal brushes or scrapers.
  • In cleaning glass and enamel trays, powder detergents are also not used. Powder particles are no better than hard sponges, they can scratch the coating. Choose liquid or gel formulations.
  • Before washing the aluminum pan, scrape off the fat as much as possible with a wooden spatula.
  • It will be much easier to clean any baking sheets from carbon deposits and old fat if you soak them in warm water with a little liquid dishwashing liquid for several hours.

Folk methods

Folk remedies are good because cleaning components can be found in almost any home.

And even if they are not there, then in most cases the ingredients are mere pennies, in addition, the choice is quite large.

Let's see what you can use to return the baking sheet to its original sparkling look.

Soda and salt

This combination is an excellent solution for aluminum baking trays. Mix a little salt and baking soda, then apply the mixture to particularly dirty areas.

After waiting a few minutes, rub them well with a sponge. It also happens that the method does not help, but there is another option:

  1. mix baking soda and salt, cover the baking sheet in an even layer;
  2. put in an oven heated to 100 degrees and wait half an hour;
  3. let the dishes cool down and rub again with a sponge.

Soda and vinegar

This is another way to clean an aluminum baking sheet properly:

  1. pour a little water into the container, add half a tablespoon of soda and vinegar each;
  2. preheat the oven to 100 degrees and put a baking sheet, but make sure that the water does not splash;
  3. after half an hour, remove the container, wait for cooling and wipe well.

Soda and soap

This technique will allow you to save aluminum sheets from particularly difficult contaminants, for example, burnt baked goods, jam, stuck baking sleeves. However, the process is fraught with certain difficulties:

  1. find a container that will be larger than the baking sheet;
  2. fill the sheet with water, and then add two tablespoons of soda and the same amount of soap solution to it;
  3. simmer for half an hour, over low heat.

Ammonia

This method is quite effective, it is also suitable for aluminum:

  1. a small amount of the product is poured onto the sheet;
  2. with a sponge, which will later have to be thrown away, the layer is made even;
  3. put in a cold oven and close the door well;
  4. after 12 hours stains will be easily removed.

The disadvantage of this technique is in an unpleasant odor, therefore it is important that the oven door is closed as tightly as possible... Besides, it is advisable to close the kitchen door altogether.

Enamel, ceramic and glass cooking containers are a little more difficult to clean, but still possible. One of the most effective ways would be simple soaking. To do this, you only need to fill the sheet with hot water and drip a little dishwashing liquid into it. After a few hours, you can try to remove the carbon deposits.

Traces of burnt oil can be easily cleaned with mustard, this procedure is best done at night. In the evening, sprinkle a baking sheet with dry mustard and cover with boiling water. It will be much easier to clean the dish in the morning. Also, if you don't want to wait that long, use a regular baking powder. A little baking powder is poured onto the bottom, sprayed with water, and left for 30 minutes. Over time, the baking sheet will wash off easily.

Another readily available remedy is soda, such as Cola. You can pour it on the bottom of the container and leave it for a couple of hours, or you can boil it directly on the sheet for 5-10 minutes.

Chemicals

Store-bought products for cleaning deposits and old grease are good alternatives to home remedies. It is recommended to purchase them for those housewives who do not have time to do everything at once, and expect quick results.

But do not forget to read the instructions carefully before using, since different products have different effects.

For example, some apply and immediately start cleaning, others take time to get started. In addition, work is always carried out in rubber gloves, since the funds can injure the skin.

Consider what chemical detergents can help cleanse old grease.

  • Amway. The composition is concentrated, it must be diluted.Helps to clean not only baking trays, but the entire oven as well. In the kit for the tool there is a brush, which is to be applied.
  • Clean Up. Another effective product that should be applied with a spray bottle. After waiting for the time specified by the manufacturer, the composition is washed off. Clean Up does not contain substances harmful to health, gives a high gloss and water-repellent properties of the surface.
  • Eco-Max. A gel-like composition that is applied to dirt and wiped off with a sponge. This tool not only perfectly cleans, but also disinfects the container, due to the presence of extracts of red grapefruit and lactic acid in the composition.
  • "Shine". A thick pasty product, after application you need to wait 20-30 minutes, and then just wash off the mixture with a sponge and water.

How can contamination be prevented?

Cleaning a baking sheet is a matter that, as a rule, is always postponed until later, because completely removing fat is much more difficult than washing even the dirtiest frying pan. However, this approach is fundamentally wrong, and soot can be avoided if you have several rules in your arsenal.

  • It doesn't matter what material your baking sheet or covering is made of, it is better to apply "protection" anyway. For example, bake meat or fish in foil, and lay out baked goods on parchment paper. Of course, this will not completely eliminate food residues, but it will also be much easier to wash such a baking sheet.
  • If you don’t have time or energy to scrub the fat after cooking, fill the container with hot water and add some dishwashing liquid. This will be a much more correct step than trying to scrape off food debris from the surface the next day.
  • Always consider the material of the cookware. For example, aluminum baking sheets lend themselves well to abrasives, they can be rubbed, polished, and powdered products can be used. Teflon, glass and other surfaces will not tolerate such treatment, only liquid formulations can be used here, and in no case should you scrape with a knife, fork or metal spatula in an attempt to remove adhered piece or carbon deposits.

If you have already spoiled the coating, then it will be quite difficult to restore such a baking sheet. A damaged coating can pose a threat to health, and therefore the container will have to be replaced.

    Thus, you can make sure that there are a lot of means for cleaning the baking sheet from different types of dirt, and you can choose what you like. With just a little effort, you will have beautiful, sparkling dishes that are much more enjoyable to cook in than those with traces of old soot. In addition, it is more beneficial for health, since this way you can be sure that bacteria have not accumulated on the baking sheet that can get into food and cause poisoning.
